CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets will be without point guard LaMelo Ball for at least two weeks because of a strained left calf. Ball felt discomfort in his calf after Wednesday night’s loss to the Miami Heat and did not play against the New York Knicks on Friday. The team said he will be reevaluated on Dec. 11, which is two weeks from the date of the original injury. Ball has been hot for the Hornets, averaging 40.3 points in his last four games. He is averaging a career-best 31.1 points and 4.7 3-pointers per game for the season, which ranks second in the NBA. He also is averaging 5.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 18 starts. Ball has had a history of injury problems, mostly to his ankles, since coming to the league as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The only Hornets player to ever receive a max contract extension, Ball has played in just 202 games with 182 starts in five seasons. The team also said guard Tre Mann’s lower back soreness has been diagnosed as a disk irritation. His absence from the lineup began on Nov. 23 against Milwaukee. He will continue his rehabilitation and be reevaluated in two weeks. “They are competitors and they want to be out there on the court to compete and hoop, but they also want to be out there for their teammates,” Hornets coach Charles Lee said prior to Saturday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks. "I just walked past ’Melo as I was coming in here to do media, and he’s like, ‘I’m going to take care of everything I need to do on this return to play program and I’m going to attack it with the right mindset.’ I have all the confidence in the world in our performance staff and in those guys.” AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBAUCF will attempt to shake off a dreadful offensive performance when it collides with LSU on Sunday afternoon in the third-place game of the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The Knights (4-1) couldn't get anything going against No. 19 Wisconsin on Friday, going 21-for-62 from the field (33.9 percent) and just 2-for-17 from 3-point range (11.8 percent) en route to an 86-70 loss. Jordan Ivy-Curry finished with 13 points while Keyshawn Hall and Dior Johnson added 11 apiece for UCF, which never led and fell behind by as many as 23. Knights coach Johnny Dawkins is hoping that his team's struggles don't carry over into the meeting with the Tigers (4-1). "We have to do better offensively," Dawkins said. "We have to space the floor better. We have to balance our offense between our perimeter and our bigs. Those are things that we didn't do consistently (on Friday)." LSU also needs to clean things up after committing 15 turnovers in a 74-63 setback against Pitt on Friday. Tigers forward Jalen Reed doesn't believe giving the ball away will be a lingering issue. "I feel like a lot of our turnovers were more on us than them," Reed said. "I feel like a lot of the turnovers were careless, but we're a better team than that and I feel like we'll take care of the ball better moving forward." Reed and Vyctorius Miller each posted 14 points in the loss to the Panthers, with Reed also hauling in seven rebounds. Cam Carter chipped in 11 points. Carter is putting up a team-leading 16.4 points per game. Jordan Sears (12.0 points per game), Reed (11.0) and Miller (10.2) also have scoring averages in double figures. Ivy-Curry (16.8 points per game), Hall (16.2) and Darius Johnson (13.0) have been leading the way for UCF. Sunday marks the first-ever meeting between the Knights and Tigers. --Field Level Media

New Delhi : After a video of former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu surfaced in which he described his wife's treatment for her breast cancer as "starving the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar", Tata Memorial Hospital doctors on Saturday warned that diet alone is no cure for the disease, which requires a range of medical interventions. Oncologists at Tata Memorial Trust, in a post shared on X, said: "Diet alone is not a cure for cancer. While it plays a crucial role in supporting treatment and improving outcomes, cancer cure typically requires medical interventions like surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Nutraceuticals and dietary changes can enhance the effectiveness of these treatments by targeting cancer pathways and improving the patient’s overall health. However, claims of curing cancer through diet alone lack scientific validation. Treatment plans should integrate diet as a complementary approach rather than a standalone solution, tailored to the individual’s cancer type and overall condition." Sidhu in a video, widely circulated on social media, had said that his wife starved the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar and consumed haldi (turmeric) and neem which helped cure her "incurable" cancer. He said she ate her first meal of the day at 10 a.m. and the last meal of the day at 6.30 p.m. To this, the Tata Memorial doctors said: "These statements have no high-quality evidence to support them. While research is ongoing for some of these products, there is no clinical data currently to recommend their use as anti-cancer agents. We urge the public to not delay their treatment by following unproven remedies, but rather to consult a doctor, preferably a cancer specialist, if they have any symptoms of cancer. Cancer is curable if detected early and proven cancer treatments include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy." At least 262 oncologists (present and past, from Tata Memorial Hospital) signed the statement. “Make this go viral. We have to keep fighting misinformation,” the Tata Memorial said.

DLF Techpark 1 is home to global technology leaders like IBM, Lexmark and Concentrix. Around 15,000 people work in the IT park KOLKATA: In one of the largest commercial real estate deals in Kolkata in recent years, a consortium of two city-based firms inked an agreement to purchase a 15 lakh sq ft IT park in New Town from a Delhi-based real estate giant. The deal that includes purchase of assets and liabilities is pegged at Rs 638 crore. " RDB Primarc Techno Park has acquired DLF Techpark 1, one of the largest privately-owned tech parks in the city, from DLF Info City Developers . The acquisition includes the cost of the immoveable property and business undertakings like rental, CAM, fit-out, property management and other services being operated from DLF Techpark 1," said Primarc director Siddharth Pansari. DLF rental business vice-chairman and MD Sriram Khattar said the deal was reflective of the value embedded in the company's core assets created over the years with good quality tenant partners and asset management. RDB Primarc Techno Park is an affiliate of Primarc and RDB Group while DLF Info City Developers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DLF Cyber City Developers , the rental arm of DLF. The green building that carries LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council is one of the earliest IT projects in New Town and is a landmark in the satellite township. Situated next to Nazrul Tirtha, it is home to global technology leaders like IBM, Lexmark and Concentrix. Around 15,000 people work in the IT park that comprises multiple blocks. "We have been wanting to expand our commercial portfolio for a while and enter the IT space that is expected to see a good demand from global capability centres. This marque asset provided a good acquisition opportunity. We will benefit immensely from DLF's learnings, systems and processes," Pansari said. The group is also planning to develop greenfield projects, both in the IT space and in retail. "We will construct malls in Kolkata and Bhopal," he added. RDB group promoter Vinod Dugar felt the step would strengthen the commitment to support Bengal's economy through projects that prioritise sustainability and excellence. JLL was the sole transaction adviser to both parties. Fox & Mandal were the legal advisers to RDB & Primarc. Surekha Bihani, senior managing director of JLL India (east & emerging markets), said: "This is not only the largest concluded real estate transaction in Bengal's history but also one of the biggest acquisitions within the state by a Bengal-based company." Debanjan Mandal and Kunal Vajani, managing partners of Fox & Mandal, said: "This is a landmark transaction for West Bengal, and we are glad to have worked on this acquisition."
