CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets will be without point guard LaMelo Ball for at least two weeks because of a strained left calf. Ball felt discomfort in his calf after Wednesday night’s loss to the Miami Heat and did not play against the New York Knicks on Friday. The team said he will be reevaluated on Dec. 11, which is two weeks from the date of the original injury. Ball has been hot for the Hornets, averaging 40.3 points in his last four games. He is averaging a career-best 31.1 points and 4.7 3-pointers per game for the season, which ranks second in the NBA. He also is averaging 5.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 18 starts. Ball has had a history of injury problems, mostly to his ankles, since coming to the league as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The only Hornets player to ever receive a max contract extension, Ball has played in just 202 games with 182 starts in five seasons. The team also said guard Tre Mann’s lower back soreness has been diagnosed as a disk irritation. His absence from the lineup began on Nov. 23 against Milwaukee. New Delhi : After a video of former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu surfaced in which he described his wife's treatment for her breast cancer as "starving the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar", Tata Memorial Hospital doctors on Saturday warned that diet alone is no cure for the disease, which requires a range of medical interventions. Oncologists at Tata Memorial Trust, in a post shared on X, said: "Diet alone is not a cure for cancer. While it plays a crucial role in supporting treatment and improving outcomes, cancer cure typically requires medical interventions like surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Nutraceuticals and dietary changes can enhance the effectiveness of these treatments by targeting cancer pathways and improving the patient’s overall health. However, claims of curing cancer through diet alone lack scientific validation. Treatment plans should integrate diet as a complementary approach rather than a standalone solution, tailored to the individual’s cancer type and overall condition." Sidhu in a video, widely circulated on social media, had said that his wife starved the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar and consumed haldi (turmeric) and neem which helped cure her "incurable" cancer. He said she ate her first meal of the day at 10 a.m. and the last meal of the day at 6.30 p.m. To this, the Tata Memorial doctors said: "These statements have no high-quality evidence to support them. While research is ongoing for some of these products, there is no clinical data currently to recommend their use as anti-cancer agents. We urge the public to not delay their treatment by following unproven remedies, but rather to consult a doctor, preferably a cancer specialist, if they have any symptoms of cancer. Cancer is curable if detected early and proven cancer treatments include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy." Around 15,000 people work in the IT park KOLKATA: In one of the largest commercial real estate deals in Kolkata in recent years, a consortium of two city-based firms inked an agreement to purchase a 15 lakh sq ft IT park in New Town from a Delhi-based real estate giant. The deal that includes purchase of assets and liabilities is pegged at Rs 638 crore. " RDB Primarc Techno Park has acquired DLF Techpark 1, one of the largest privately-owned tech parks in the city, from DLF Info City Developers . The acquisition includes the cost of the immoveable property and business undertakings like rental, CAM, fit-out, property management and other services being operated from DLF Techpark 1," said Primarc director Siddharth Pansari. DLF rental business vice-chairman and MD Sriram Khattar said the deal was reflective of the value embedded in the company's core assets created over the years with good quality tenant partners and asset management. RDB Primarc Techno Park is an affiliate of Primarc and RDB Group while DLF Info City Developers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DLF Cyber City Developers , the rental arm of DLF. The green building that carries LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council is one of the earliest IT projects in New Town and is a landmark in the satellite township.
