Former US president Jimmy Carter dies aged 100

'Democracy and freedom': Jimmy Carter's human rights efforts in Latin AmericaCARIBOU — The Caribou Rotary Club is excited to announce that this year’s Cash Draw will be an “in person” event, held at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Due to the COVID pandemic, the annual draw was held as a remote, live streamed event for the past four years. The return to an in-person event provides the community with a wonderful social gathering in addition to an important fundraiser for the Caribou Rotary Club. “The fundraiser, now in its 30 th year, was originally a snowmobile draw featuring three snowmobiles as the top prizes. It evolved to a snowmobile/ATV draw and eventually to its current format of 30 cash prizes from $100 to the grand prize of $5,000,” noted Cash Draw Cochair Frank McElwain. Funds raised from the draw are used to support a variety of community projects such as the local Wreaths Across America, improvements to the Caribou High School Ski Building, shades for the Cariou Recreation Department’s splash pad, a second gym and larger performing arts space for the new Caribou Community School, new dugouts for the Caribou Little League and bicycle helmets for all third grade students. The highly anticipated Annual Cash Draw event is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. The event will kick off at 6 p.m., with light refreshments and a cash bar available from 6-7 p.m. The excitement builds at 7 p.m. as tickets are drawn and cash prize winners are announced. “We are looking forward to an evening of fun, fellowship, and fundraising for the Caribou Rotary Club,” said Keviin Mcartney, Rotary Club president. “This event is a great way to get into the holiday spirit while supporting important causes right here in our community.” For more information on tickets and event details, contact any Caribou Rotarian. The Caribou Rotary Club is a local chapter of Rotary International, a global humanitarian organization dedicated to advancing peace, health and education worldwide. The club has been an active part of the Caribou community for 100 years, supporting local charities, service projects and youth programs.
