ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Greenway Technologies, Inc. (OTCPINKSHEETS: GWTI), ("Greenway”), is an advanced gas-to-liquids ("GTL”) and gas-to-hydrogen ("GTH”) technology development company. On October 13, 2023, GME Hydro LP ("GME”) and Greenway signed a non-binding letter of intent ("LOI”) under which GME would purchase two patented GWTI H-Reformer TM units ("H-Reformers TM ”). The H-Reformers would be used to convert natural gas (CH 4 ) to hydrogen (H 2 ) for use in electrical power generation. In conjunction with the execution of the agreement, GME committed to make an investment in GWTI via the purchase of restricted stock. Since that time, GME and Greenway (the Parties”) have worked together to develop a definitive agreement to effectuate the terms of the October 13, 2023 LOI. To reaffirm the commitment of the Parties, a new LOI dated December 12, 2024, was executed. Greenway's two H-Reformer TM units will be configured to produce a daily total of up to 20,000 KG of hydrogen that will fuel reciprocating generators, which are components of a larger power generation system, in quantities sufficient to generate 10 MW of electricity. Greenway's H-Reformer TM units are scalable to meet small and large hydrogen production specifications by adjusting the unit output production configuration or by "stacking” multiple units. GME will purchase, install, and operate the two H-Reformer TM units at its Johnstown, PA facility, (or at a site to be determined) where the locations would have access to on-site fossil and renewable natural gas. By combining incoming fossil natural gas with 25% renewable natural gas, the project should be eligible for Federal Clean Air H 2 Credits. GME will fully optimize Greenway's proprietary technology to achieve its goal of a low-cost, on-site clean hydrogen production solution with very low atmospheric carbon, as H-ReformerTM units are compatible with processes that separate carbon from its only hydrogen production bi-product, CO 2 . The valuable liquified carbon will be sold to provide additional revenue and offset operating costs. In a statement, Kevin Jones, President of GWTI, said, "Greenway Technologies has been working diligently on Research and Development over the last ten years to develop and patent processes and procedures to perfect innovative and clean gas-to-hydrogen solutions. Hydrogen shows great promise as a fuel but has been prevented from widespread use due to the prohibitively high price of transportation, whether it be by truck, rail, or an extremely limited pipeline infrastructure. Because natural gas is abundantly available at numerous locations, the winning hydrogen solution was always going to be one that could perform the hydrogen creation at the final site where it is used without carbon generation into the atmosphere. Additionally, other hydrogen-creation processes are either non-scalable, carbon-generating, or too expensive to be practical. The world can truly see the first step in widespread hydrogen production and use, whether it be for power generation, automobile, truck or train fueling stations, or other applications in a small, clean, and previously unimagined price at virtually anywhere there is a natural gas supply. Jones went on to say "Since the time of the original LOI, GME Hydro and GWTI have been investigating the use of additional GWTI technology for a variety of purposes. Research has begun on converting methane produced by municipal waste dumps into hydrogen to fuel additional electrical generation equipment. In addition, GME Hydro and GWTI have been investigating the use of GWTI's other technology, the G-Reformer TM . By using this technology in conjunction with their projects, the G-Reformer TM units can be configured to create synthetic diesel blend stock and associated liquid chemicals. Finally, GME Hydro and GWTI are investigating using the G-Reformer TM to create methanol, a liquid fuel, in those areas where removal of the created offtake is more easily accomplished as a single liquid”. Methanol is emerging as a clean burning hydrocarbon fuel which has substantial value if created in a low-carbon emitting process. Methanol created using renewable methane is in large demand at premium prices due to worldwide interest in lower carbon standards.” About Greenway Technologies, Inc. Based in Arlington, Texas, the Company, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Greenway Innovative Energy, Inc., is engaged in the research and development of proprietary GTL and GTH syngas conversion systems that can be scaled to meet oil and gas field production requirements, or the requirements of various processes where natural gas is produced or available. The Company's patented technology has been integrated into its recently completed first-generation commercial G-Reformer TM unit, a unique component used to convert natural gas into synthesis gas (a mixture of Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide). In the case of hydrogen creation, an additional new technology, the H-Reformer TM , has been created which creates synthesis gas consisting of Hydrogen gas and CO 2 . When combined with an FT reactor and catalyst, G-Reformer TM units can be deployed to process a variety of natural gas streams, including pipeline gas, associated gas, flared gas, vented gas, coal-bed methane, and biomass to produce fuels including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and methanol as well as valuable chemical outputs. When derived from natural gas, these fuels are incrementally cleaner than conventionally produced oil-based fuels. Morgan Rogers’ fourth goal of the season, an Ollie Watkins penalty and Matty Cash’s finish put Villa 3-0 up after 34 minutes. Mikkel Damsgaard pulled one back for Brentford in the second half but the damage had been done as Villa ended their eight-match winless run in all competitions. Emery was relieved to end the unwanted streak but quickly turned his attention to the next fixture against Southampton on Saturday. “We broke a spell of bad results we were having,” the Villa boss said. “We started the first five or 10 minutes not in control of the game but then progressively we controlled. “Today we achieved those three points and it has given us confidence again but even like that it’s not enough. We have to keep going and think about the next match against Southampton on Saturday. “The message was try to focus on each match, try to forget the table. How we can recover confidence and feel comfortable at home. Today was a fantastic match.” Tyrone Mings returned to the starting line-up in the Premier League for the first time since August 2023. Emery admitted it has been a long road back for the 31-year-old and is pleased to have him back. He added: “Mings played in the Champions league but it’s the first time in the league for a year and three months. “I think he played fantastic – he might be tired tomorrow but will be ready for Saturday again. “It was very, very long, the injury he had. His comeback is fantastic for him and everybody, for the doctor and physio and now he’s training everyday.” Brentford fell to a sixth away defeat from seven games and have picked up only a solitary point on the road this season. They have the best home record in the league, with 19 points from seven matches, but they have the joint worst away record. Bees boss Thomas Frank is confident form will improve on the road. He said: “On numbers we can’t argue we are better at home than away, but on numbers it’s a coincidence. I think two of the seven away games have been bad. “The other games we performed well in big spells. I’m confident at the end of the season we will have some wins away from home.” Frank felt Villa should not have been given a penalty when Ethan Pinnock brought Watkins down. He added: “I want to argue the penalty. I don’t think it is (one). I think Ollie kicked back and hit Ethan, yes there is an arm on the shoulder but threshold and all that – but that’s not the reason we lost.”
LG USA ANNOUNCES CREATION OF 2025 SUMMER INTERNSHIPS EXCLUSIVELY FOR RUTGERS STUDENT-ATHLETESFor two years, Colorado fans have been entertained with some of the best players to come through Boulder. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, and many others with the 20th-ranked Buffaloes (9-3, 7-2 Big 12), will wrap up their collegiate careers with a bowl game later this month and turn their focus to the NFL. Head coach Deion Sanders, his staff and Buff Nation, however, are already peeking ahead to 2025. On Wednesday, Coach Prime and his staff signed 14 high school players as the early, three-day signing period began. In the ever-changing world of college football, this is the earliest the signing period has ever been, more than two weeks earlier than last year (Dec. 20). It’s the first step in reshaping a CU roster without Shedeur at quarterback and Hunter at cornerback and receiver. According to 247Sports, the Buffs’ class, as of Wednesday, ranks 37th nationally and fourth in the Big 12 Conference. Class size plays a role in those rankings and Coach Prime has never been one to build up a large class of prep recruits. In terms of average player rating (or the quality of the recruits), the Buffs lead the Big 12 and rank 21st nationally. The headliner of the class is Shedeur’s potential replacement, five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis from Carrollton (Ga.) High School. With a .9831 rating on 247Sports.com, Lewis is the highest-rated high school quarterback to ever sign with the Buffs. Lewis was verbally committed to USC for 15 months before flipping to CU last month. Prior to Wednesday, Coach Prime could not talk about specific recruits. On Nov. 21, however, the day Lewis committed, Coach Prime had his coaches’ show and spoke about the newest commit, without mentioning his name. “It’s a great thing for the program,” he said. “We know that’s been in the working for quite some time. Great kid, great talent. I like the qualities and the home structure. I like all of that and I can’t wait to be a part of his life and coach him.” In recent years, Lewis has been close with former CU great quarterback Kordell Stewart, who is also a friend of Coach Prime. While securing one of the top quarterbacks in the country, the Buffs also put an emphasis on protecting him. Of the 14 players in the class, three are offensive linemen and two are tight ends. Two four-star linemen – Chauncey Gooden (Nashville, Tenn.) and Carde Smith (Mobile, Ala.) – lead the way up front. Combined, they had 73 scholarship offers. Smith, like Lewis, was committed to USC until recently, while Gooden was projected by some to go Clemson before committing to CU last summer. Three-star Jay Gardenhire is also joining the class as a 6-foot-8, 330-pound tackle from West Bloomfield, Mich. The Buffs also landed three receivers, all from Texas high schools: four-star prospects Quanell Farrakhan Jr. and Adrian Wilson and three-star Quentin Gibson. Defensively, the Buffs have added two linemen, an edge rusher, a linebacker and a safety. The group is headlined by four-star edge London Merritt, who was committed to Ohio State before flipping to CU last week. As a new crop of Buffs prepares to come to Boulder, the outgoing seniors have expressed confidence that even with them gone, success will continue. “We definitely laid the foundation for the younger guys to come up and keep their foot on the gas pedal, keep going, keep playing, and just believe in coaching,” Hunter said recently. Senior safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig said that when he comes back to Boulder in a few years, he expects to see more trophies on display. “We’re gonna have 2025 trophies, 2026, 2027 trophies,” he said. “That’s the standard, to win, at the end of the day.” Shedeur, projected as a top-five selection in the 2025 draft, even said he’ll do his part by donating money to the NIL collective to ensure the Buffs’ success will continue. “My main thing is surround them and give them everything that I wish I could have had,” he said after the win against Oklahoma State. “So it’s basically set them up for success, and everything in my power, I personally could do, I’m gonna do. I’m gonna donate to the collective for sure. “I’ll make sure you have a super team next year. I’m just happy for the new guys coming in and that we paved away for them. They just got to take control. They just got to take over. We’re gonna make sure everything is good, how they need it.” Notable CU did lose one commit on Wednesday, as four-star safety Alex Graham from Detroit flipped and signed with USC. He had been committed to CU since April. ... CU signed one in-state recruit, tight end Zayne DeSouza from Loveland High School. He’s just the second in-state recruit signed by Coach Prime in three recruiting cycles, with the other being current sophomore center Hank Zilinskas from the 2023 class. ... For decades, California was a recruiting hotbed for CU, but the Buffs haven’t signed any players from the Golden State in the last two classes.

TEHRAN - Iran’s transit corridor which is a regional hub can play a significant role in transporting Japanese products in the region, Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh said in a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Iran Tamaki Tsukada. "The deep relations between Iran and Japan on environmental issues, especially water, are a good basis for expanding relations between the two countries,” Nouri said. Japanese Ambassador, for his part, referred to his trip to the northwestern provinces of Iran and Lake Urmia, saying that key topics were discussed regarding agriculture, water management, and the restoration of Lake Urmia in the presence of the head of the Iran-Japan parliamentary group. In October 2023, former Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhber proposed a comprehensive transit to link all the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states through Iran. In his speech, he expressed Iran's readiness to provide transit opportunities to SCO member states for the North-South and East-West corridors. "Iran is ready to create a comprehensive transit corridor to connect the member countries of SCO. In line with that goal, it has already taken important steps in the form of the North-South Corridor, which, with its full realization, the commercial and economic access from South and East Asia to the countries of Central Asia, Caucasus, Russia, Black Sea and Europe will be facilitated." "Iran is a territory of transit and logistics opportunities. In this regard, we are ready to create a transit corridor for the accession of SCO member countries," Mokhber also said. In early November, the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) hosted a meeting with Japan’s Ambassador to Tehran Tamaki Tsukada in which the two sides explored avenues for economic cooperation. As the TCCIMA portal reported, in this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on creating a platform for the development of economic relations between the private sectors of the two countries and discussed ways of improving trade relations between Iran and Japan. In an interview recently conducted by Tasnim news agency, the Japanese envoy has said that the Japanese companies are interested in cooperating with Iran in the energy sector, especially in the hydrogen and ammoniac fields. “Japanese companies are interested in participation in Iran’s energy sector like overhaul of factories and energy equipment,” Tsukada stated. Mentioning the long-lasting history of cooperation between the two countries and the negative impacts that the U.S. sanctions have had on the level of economic exchanges between the two countries, the ambassador said: “If the international conditions improve, I am sure that oil and energy companies in Japan will again show their interest in participating in the Iranian market.” The envoy estimated the current value of trade between the two countries at about $100 million, noting that this figure is significantly low considering the two sides' capacities and potential for expanding economic ties. Also, in a meeting between Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Farzaneh Sadegh and Japan’s ambassador to Tehran in late October, the two sides stressed cooperation in transportation, infrastructure, and technology development. Speaking in the meeting, Sadegh underlined Iran’s geopolitical position as the link between East and West and said: “Japan can reach countries in the region, including Central Asia and the Caucasus, through Iran.” She further noted that the two countries can expand their cooperation in areas such as intelligent transportation systems, safety, transportation infrastructure technologies, and smart and earthquake-resistant urban construction technologies. The minister invited Japanese officials to visit Iran to get familiar with the capabilities and capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the country’s unique bridges and tunnels, and to discuss the areas for cooperation. Another important issue discussed in this meeting was the need to establish direct flights between Iran and Japan, which was emphasized by both parties. Sadegh also suggested that a meeting be held between the port officials of the two countries in order to examine the areas of cooperation in the field of maritime transportation. The Japanese ambassador also pointed to the long-standing and historical relations between Iran and Japan and said: “The thousand-year history of the relationship between the two countries has provided a good basis for deepening joint cooperation in the field of human settlement, exchange of knowledge, technology and holding training courses.” He expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in this field and called for further development of such cooperation. SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil’s former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro was fully aware of and actively participated in a coup plot to remain in office after his defeat in the 2022 election , according to a Federal Police report unsealed Tuesday. Federal Police last Thursday formally accused Bolsonaro and 36 other people of attempting a coup. They sent their 884-page report to the Supreme Court, which lifted the seal. The unsealed document provides a first glimpse of several testimonies that describe the former president as one of the key leaders of the plot, and not a mere observer. “The evidence collected throughout the investigation shows unequivocally that then-President Jair Messias Bolsonaro planned, acted and was directly and effectively aware of the actions of the criminal organization aiming to launch a coup d’etat and eliminate the democratic rule of law, which did not take place due to reasons unrelated to his desire,” the document said. At another point, it says: “Bolsonaro had full awareness and active participation.” Bolsonaro, who had repeatedly alleged without evidence that the country's electronic voting system was prone to fraud, called a meeting in December 2022, during which he presented a draft decree to the commanders of the three divisions of the armed forces, according to the police report, signed by four investigators. The decree would have launched an investigation into suspicions of fraud and crimes related to the October 2022 vote, and suspended the powers of the nation's electoral court. The navy’s commander stood ready to comply, but those from the army and air force objected to any plan that prevented Lula’s inauguration, the report said. Those refusals are why the plan did not go ahead, according to witnesses who spoke to investigators. Bolsonaro never signed the decree to set the final stage of the alleged plan into action. Bolsonaro has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or awareness of any plot to keep him in power or oust his leftist rival and successor, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. “No one is going to do a coup with a reserve general and half a dozen other officers. What is being said is absurd. For my part, there has never been any discussion of a coup,” Bolsonaro told journalists in Brazil’s capital Brasilia on Monday. “If someone came to discuss a coup with me, I’d say, that’s fine, but the day after, how does the world view us?” he added. “The word ‘coup’ has never been in my dictionary.” The top court has passed the report on to Prosecutor-General Paulo Gonet. He will decide whether to formally charge Bolsonaro and put him on trial, or toss the investigation. The former president was formally accused of three crimes: violent elimination of the rule of law, staging a coup d'etat and forming a criminal organization. Rodrigo Rios, a law professor at the PUC university in the city of Curitiba, said Bolsonaro could face up to a minimum of 11 years in prison if convicted on all charges. “A woman involved in the Jan. 8 attack on the Supreme Court received a 17-year prison sentence,” Rios told The Associated Press, noting that the former president is more likely to receive 15 years or more if convicted. “Bolsonaro’s future looks dark.” Ahead of the 2022 election, Bolsonaro repeatedly alleged that the election system, which does not use paper ballots, could be tampered with. The top electoral court later ruled that he had abused his power to cast unfounded doubt on the voting system, and ruled him ineligible for office until 2030 . Still, he has maintained that he will stand as a candidate in the 2026 race. Since Bolsonaro left office, he has been targeted by several investigations, all of which he has chalked up to political persecution. Federal Police have accused him of smuggling diamond jewelry into Brazil without properly declaring them and directing a subordinate to falsify his and others’ COVID-19 vaccination statuses . Authorities are also investigating whether he incited the Jan. 8, 2022 riot in which his followers ransacked the Supreme Court and presidential palace in Brasilia, seeking to prompt intervention by the army that would oust Lula from power. Bolsonaro had left for the United States days before Lula’s inauguration on Jan. 1, 2023 and stayed there three months, keeping a low profile. The police report unsealed Tuesday alleges he was seeking to avoid possible imprisonment related to the coup plot, and also await the uprising that took place a week later. Two men, including a dual Iranian American citizen, have been arrested on charges that they exported sensitive technology to Iran that was used in a drone attack in Jordan that killed three American troops early this year and injured dozens of other service members, the Justice Department said Monday. The pair were arrested after FBI specialists who analyzed the drone traced the navigation system to an Iranian company operated by one of the defendants, who relied on technology funneled from the U.S. by his alleged co-conspirator, officials said. “We often cite hypothetical risk when we talk about the dangers of American technology getting into dangerous hands,” said U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy, the top federal prosecutor in Massachusetts . “Unfortunately, in this situation, we are not speculating.” The defendants were identified as Mahdi Mohammad Sadeghi, who prosecutors say works at a Massachusetts-based semiconductor company, and Mohammad Abedininajafabadi, who was arrested Monday in Italy as the Justice Department seeks his extradition to Massachusetts. Prosecutors allege that Abedininajafabadi, who also uses the surname Adedini and operates an Iranian company that manufactures navigation systems for drones, has connections to Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. They allege that he conspired with Sadeghi to circumvent American export control laws, including through a front company in Switzerland, and procure sensitive technology into Iran. Both men are charged with export control violations, and Abedini separately faces charges of conspiring to provide material support to Iran. A lawyer for Sadeghi, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was arrested Monday in Massachusetts, did not immediately return an email seeking comment. U.S. officials blamed the January attack on the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias that includes Kataib Hezbollah. Three Georgia soldiers — Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton, Sgt. Breonna Moffett of Savannah and Sgt. Kennedy Sanders of Waycross — were killed in the Jan. 28 drone attack on a U.S. outpost in northeastern Jordan called Tower 22. In the attack, the one-way attack drone may have been mistaken for a U.S. drone that was expected to return back to the logistics base about the same time and was not shot down. Instead, it crashed into living quarters, killing the three soldiers and injuring more than 40. Tower 22 held about 350 U.S. military personnel at the time. It is strategically located between Jordan and Syria, only 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the Iraqi border, and in the months just after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and Israel’s blistering response in Gaza, Iranian-backed militias intensified their attacks on U.S. military locations in the region. Following the attack, the U.S. launched a huge counterstrike against 85 sites in Iraq and Syria used by Iran's Revolutionary Guard and Iranian-backed militia and bolstered Tower 22’s defenses. ____ Tucker and Copp reported from Washington.: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Monday observed that the Centre’s decision rejecting the remission of P.V.B. Ganesh was without application of mind. Ganesh was associated with the Maoist party during the murder of Magunta Subbarama Reddy, then MP from Ongole. The judge was dealing with a petition challenging the rejection of remission of Ganesh by the Centre stating severity of offences committed and influence of same on pending trial against other accused. In an earlier round of litigation, a division bench granted the interim bail and directed the Centre to consider his case for remission based on his reformation. It is stated that Ganesh, after being convicted, was in Cherlapally Central Prison for about 28 years and obtained three graduation degrees. The judge ruled that such a reasoning by the Centre would enunciate non application of mind by the authorities. Deputy Solicitor General, Gadi Praveen Kumar opposed to granting any relief stating that the convict is involved in serious offences and further sought three weeks to file counter. The judge after perusing the records extended the interim bail granted by the division bench for three weeks and directed the Centre to file a counter affidavit within such time. Justice Juvvadi Sridevi of the Telangana High Court took on a plea filed seeking to quash a criminal case against the organisers of the ‘Cinephiles Organisation’ before the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Malkajgiri Court. The petitioners contended that the organisation screens thoughtful movies at places like Lamakaan to promote pro-people cinema movement on a global scale. It is the case of the petitioner that they were implicated in a criminal case in January 2024 while they were screening the award-winning documentary Ram Ke Naam (in the name of God). Counsel for the petitioner contended that police had registered a false case for screening a CBFC-certified documentary which won National Award and many international accolades. It was argued that the complaint and chargesheet are baseless and ambiguous without any material evidence. The judge, after hearing the counsel ordered notices to the de facto complainant and dispensed with the presence of the organisers before the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Malkajgiri Court. The court, however, said that their presence was not necessary before the trial court unless the trial court deems necessary. The case will now be heard on February 4. The Telangana High Court will hear a writ plea challenging the failure of the State Social Welfare Department and other authorities in not releasing tuition fees under the government’s Reimbursement of Tuition Fee scheme. Justice T. Vinod Kumar admitted a writ plea filed by Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Yamnapet, Ghatkesar, contending that the state is not releasing the tuition fee amounts owed to students belonging to SC/ST, EBC, BC, and minority communities for the academic years 2018–19 to 2024–25. The petitioner argued that this delay is arbitrary, illegal, and a violation of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution. The petitioner further claimed that the state’s actions are in contravention of key government orders. Citing the GOs, the petitioner is seeking the immediate release of the outstanding tuition fee amounts along with interest at 18% per annum. The Government Pleader sought additional time to file a response. Accordingly, the judge posted the matter for further adjudication. Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya of the Telangana High Court ordered notice to IDFC First Bank and others in a writ plea alleging illegal freezing of a bank account. The issue revolves around the complaint of an individual who lost funds while using the Telegram app. It is alleged that the funds were routed to the account of the petitioner. The judge is hearing a writ plea filed by Ishan Amit Mehta, a freelance consultant alleging that the respondent bank illegally froze his bank account and is holding a lien on excess of the disputed transaction amount. It is alleged that the same is being done without any prior information/intimation to the petitioner and is highhanded and unconstitutional. The petitioner would also allege that the state police authorities are issuing notices for personal appearance of the petitioner and repeatedly asking him to physically appear. After hearing the counsel for the petitioner, the judge ordered notice and posted the matter for further adjudication.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Luke Altmyer found Pat Bryant for a catch-and-run, 40-yard touchdown pass with 4 seconds left, sending No. 24 Illinois to a wild 38-31 victory over Rutgers on Saturday. Illinois (8-3, 5-3 Big Ten) was down 31-30 when it sent long kicker Ethan Moczulski out for a desperation 58-yard field goal with 14 seconds to go. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano then called for a timeout right before Moczulski’s attempt was wide left and about 15 yards short. After the missed field goal was waved off by the timeout, Illinois coach Bret Bielema sent his offense back on the field. Altmyer hit Bryant on an in cut on the left side at the 22, and he continued across the field and scored untouched in a game that featured three lead changes in the final 3:07. Rutgers (6-5, 3-5) gave up a safety on the final kickoff return, throwing a ball out of bounds in the end zone as players passed it around hoping for a miracle touchdown. Altmyer was 12-of-26 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Bryant finished with seven receptions for 197 yards. Altmeyer put Illinois in front with a 30-yard TD run with 3:07 to go. He passed to Josh McCray on the 2-point conversion, making it 30-24. Rutgers responded with a 10-play, 65-yard drive. Athan Kaliakmanis had a 15-yard run on fourth down. He passed to running back Kyle Manangai for a 13-yard TD with 1:08 remaining. Illinois then drove 75 yards in eight plays for the unexpected win. Kaliakmanis was 18 for 36 for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 13 carries for 84 yards and two TDs. Monangai had a career-high 28 carries for 122 yards. Kaliakmanis found Ian Strong for a 2-yard touchdown in the final seconds of the first half, and he scored on a 1-yard run to lift Rutgers to a 24-15 lead early in the fourth quarter. Illinois responded with Aidan Laughery’s 8-yard TD run, setting up the roller-coaster finish. The start of the second half was delayed because of a scrum between the teams. There were no punches thrown and the officials called penalties on both schools. Monangai’s day Monangai become the third player in Rutgers history to rush for 3,000 yards when he picked up 4 on a third-and-1 carry early in the second quarter. The defending conference rushing champion joins Ray Rice and Terrell Willis in hitting the mark. The takeaway Illinois: The great finish keeps the Illini in line for its first nine-win season since 2007 and a prestigious bowl game this season. Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights were seconds away from their first in-conference three-game win streak since joining the Big Ten in 2014. Up next Illinois: At Northwestern next Saturday. Rutgers: At Michigan State next Saturday. ___ AP college football: https://apnews.com/hub/college-football and https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll Copyright 2024 The Associated Press .
