No. 11 Tennessee crushes UTEP to enhance CFP chancesIan Schieffelin came within two assists of a triple-double and Clemson handed Penn State its first loss with a 75-67 decision for the championship of the Sunshine Slam tournament Tuesday in Daytona Beach, Fla. Schieffelin finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for the Tigers (6-1), leading four players in double figures. Chase Hunter added 17 points, while Chauncey Wiggins scored 14 and reserve Del Jones chipped in 10 points. Clemson sank 9 of 19 3-pointers, converted 16 of 20 free throws and was able to limit the impact of the Nittany Lions' full-court pressure. The Tigers committed just 13 turnovers, helping them hold Penn State (6-1) to less than 85 points for the first time this year. Ace Baldwin starred in defeat with game highs of 20 points and 11 assists, while center Yanic Konan Niederhauser added 14 points. Nick Kern came off the bench to score 11 but Penn State was outscored 15-2 on the fast break and made just 4 of 18 attempts from 3-point range. Schieffelin came up big down the stretch, assisting on a 3-pointer by Jaeden Zackery with 6:04 left that made it 65-61. Then he made two foul shots and tossed in a jump hook from the lane to up the margin to 71-66 with 1:03 left. The big storyline going into this game was which team would be able to control the pace. Penn State came in averaging 96 ppg, while Clemson demonstrated its ability to enforce a slower tempo in March, advancing to a regional final in the NCAA Tournament. In the first 10 minutes of the game, the Tigers made the Nittany Lions play at a crawl, opening up a 17-10 advantage when Schieffelin converted a short hook in the lane. But Penn State answered with an 18-4 run over nearly six minutes, establishing a 28-21 lead when Kern shook free for a layup. Clemson rallied with nine straight points but the Nittany Lions had the last say as Baldwin converted a layup with 24 seconds left, cutting the Tigers' edge to 38-36 at halftime. --Field Level MediaIan Schieffelin came within two assists of a triple-double and Clemson handed Penn State its first loss with a 75-67 decision for the championship of the Sunshine Slam tournament Tuesday in Daytona Beach, Fla. AP Sports SummaryBrief at 6:49 p.m. ESTBUFFALO, N.Y. — With another round of lake effect snow on the way for Western New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul is urging people to be cautious if they do need to leave the house. Up to 2 feet of snow or more is possible for some areas. Winds of 30 to 45 mph could also produce whiteout conditions. "As this significant winter storm approaches, I urge all New Yorkers to be alert and take the necessary precautions to stay safe," Hochul said in a statement Tuesday night. "Our state agencies are monitoring conditions and working to ensure resources are in place ready to respond where they are needed most. Please continue to monitor your local forecast and prioritize your safety and that of your loved ones." Statewide, Hochul said crews will use 1,626 large plow trucks, 338 large loaders, 151 medium duty plows, 52 tow plows, 35 snow blowers, and 20 graders to try and keep New Yorkers safe. The Thruway Authority has 330 large and medium duty plow trucks, 10 tow plows, 63 loaders, and more than 117,000 tons of salt, Hochul said. The state is asking people to avoid unnecessary travel. If you must travel, be sure you have what you need in the car, in case something unexpected happens. "Make sure your car is stocked with survival gear like blankets, a shovel, flashlight and extra batteries, extra warm clothing, set of tire chains, battery booster cables, quick energy foods and brightly colored cloth to use as a distress flag," the state said. Also, if you endure a power outage, here's where you can report it:

Manchester City plunged deeper into trouble in the Champions League by losing 2-0 at Juventus on Wednesday, the latest setback in a scarcely believable run of poor results for the ailing English champions. City dropped to 22nd place in the 36-team standings, with only the top 24 advancing. Progressing to the next round of the new-look format looked a certainty before the season for a team that was European champion in 2023 and has won the last four Premier League titles. But not anymore as City manager Pep Guardiola battles injuries and an apparent loss of belief among his players. City has won just one of its last 10 matches in all competitions, with goals by Dušan Vlahović and Weston McKennie inflicting the latest defeat and igniting Juventus' qualification hopes. City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan described the team's problem as a “mental issue.” Opponents “are able to break our rhythm with the smallest of things,” Gundogan said. "They don’t even need to do much and it has such a big effect on us right now.” Barcelona jumped into second place in the league standings, behind Liverpool, and is guaranteed to advance after a 3-2 win at Borussia Dortmund. Raphinha and Ferran Torres, with two goals, scored for Barca. Arsenal beat Monaco 3-0 mainly thanks to two goals by Bukayo Saka to move into third place and be the highest of six teams on 13 points. The top eight qualify directly for the last 16 and the teams placed No. 9-24 go into a two-legged playoff. City has two games to save its faltering Champions League campaign and the first is against Paris Saint-Germain, another giant in trouble in 25th place — one spot out of the qualifying positions. Vlahović put Juventus ahead in the 53rd when he powered a header goalward straight at City goalkeeper Ederson, who could only parry the ball over his own line. Two American substitutes sealed the win for Juve, with McKennie volleying home from Timothy Weah's cross. Juventus moved into 14th place. Ferran Torres came off the bench to inspire Barcelona to a fifth win in six games and push Dortmund, last season's runner-up, out of the top eight. Torres came on in the 71st to replace Robert Lewandowski, who had a quiet game against his former club. Just four minutes later, Torres scored a goal on the rebound from Dani Olmo’s shot. Serhou Guirassy’s second goal of the game leveled the score at 2-2 but Torres scored again in the 85th off Lamine Yamal’s pass on the counter. Raphinha gave Barcelona the lead before Guirassy equalized from the penalty spot. Raphinha and Guirassy are tied for second place in the scoring chart on six goals, behind Lewandowski's competition-high seven. Arsenal secured a third straight home win without conceding in the league stage, with Saka scoring in the 34th and 78th minutes and sending in a shot that was turned into the net by substitute Kai Havertz in the 88th. Arsenal is ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Inter Milan, Brest and Lille on goal difference. Lille won 3-2 at home to Sturm Graz on Wednesday. Man City could sure do with Julian Alvarez at the moment. With a brilliant curling finish to open the scoring, the Argentina striker helped Atletico Madrid beat Slovan Bratislava 3-1 and provide a timely reminder of what City is missing after selling him for more than $100 million in August. Alvarez has 12 goals for the season, with four coming in the Champions League. Antoine Griezmann scored Atletico’s other two goals at Metropolitano stadium as the Spanish team climbed to 11th place after a 10th straight win in all competitions. When Lukasz Lakomy gave Young Boys the lead against Stuttgart, he ran toward the sideline and held up teammate Meschack Elia’s jersey as others gathered around him. The gesture was a tribute after Elia’s son died unexpectedly this week after a short illness. Elia wasn’t playing as he was on his way to his native Congo, where his son died, to be with his family. Both teams wore black armbands and there was a moment of silence before the game, which was won 5-1 by Stuttgart. Tammy Abraham scored an 87th-minute winner as AC Milan beat Red Star Belgrade 2-1 to move one point off the top eight. Milan lost Alvaro Morata and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to muscle injuries in the first half. Benfica’s five-match winning streak ended with a 0-0 home draw against Bologna, and Feyenoord had a 4-2 win over Sparta Prague. By KAREEM CHEHAYEB BEIRUT (AP) — In 2006, after a bruising monthlong war between Israel and Lebanon’s powerful Hezbollah militant group, the United Nations Security Council unanimously voted for a resolution to end the conflict and pave the way for lasting security along the border. But while there was relative calm for nearly two decades, Resolution 1701’s terms were never fully enforced. Now, figuring out how to finally enforce it is key to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal approved by Israel on Tuesday. In late September, after nearly a year of low-level clashes , the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah spiraled into all-out war and an Israeli ground invasion . As Israeli jets pound deep inside Lebanon and Hezbollah fires rockets deeper into northern Israel, U.N. and diplomatic officials again turned to the 2006 resolution in a bid to end the conflict. Years of deeply divided politics and regionwide geopolitical hostilities have halted substantial progress on its implementation, yet the international community believes Resolution 1701 is still the brightest prospect for long-term stability between Israel and Lebanon. Almost two decades after the last war between Israel and Hezbollah, the United States led shuttle diplomacy efforts between Lebanon and Israel to agree on a ceasefire proposal that renewed commitment to the resolution, this time with an implementation plan to try to bring the document back to life. What is UNSC Resolution 1701? In 2000, Israel withdrew its forces from most of southern Lebanon along a U.N.-demarcated “Blue Line” that separated the two countries and the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, which most of the world considers occupied Syrian territory. U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL , increased their presence along the line of withdrawal. Resolution 1701 was supposed to complete Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon and ensure Hezbollah would move north of the Litani River, keeping the area exclusively under the Lebanese military and U.N. peacekeepers. Up to 15,000 U.N. peacekeepers would help to maintain calm, return displaced Lebanese and secure the area alongside the Lebanese military. The goal was long-term security, with land borders eventually demarcated to resolve territorial disputes. The resolution also reaffirmed previous ones that call for the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon — Hezbollah among them. “It was made for a certain situation and context,” Elias Hanna, a retired Lebanese army general, told The Associated Press. “But as time goes on, the essence of the resolution begins to hollow.” Has Resolution 1701 been implemented? For years, Lebanon and Israel blamed each other for countless violations along the tense frontier. Israel said Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and growing arsenal remained, and accused the group of using a local environmental organization to spy on troops. Lebanon complained about Israeli military jets and naval ships entering Lebanese territory even when there was no active conflict. “You had a role of the UNIFIL that slowly eroded like any other peacekeeping with time that has no clear mandate,” said Joseph Bahout, the director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy at the American University of Beirut. “They don’t have permission to inspect the area without coordinating with the Lebanese army.” UNIFIL for years has urged Israel to withdraw from some territory north of the frontier, but to no avail. In the ongoing war, the peacekeeping mission has accused Israel, as well as Hezbollah , of obstructing and harming its forces and infrastructure. Hezbollah’s power, meanwhile, has grown, both in its arsenal and as a political influence in the Lebanese state. The Iran-backed group was essential in keeping Syrian President Bashar Assad in power when armed opposition groups tried to topple him, and it supports Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Yemen. It has an estimated 150,000 rockets and missiles, including precision-guided missiles pointed at Israel, and has introduced drones into its arsenal . Hanna says Hezbollah “is something never seen before as a non-state actor” with political and military influence. How do mediators hope to implement 1701 almost two decades later? Israel’s security Cabinet approved the ceasefire agreement late Tuesday, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. The ceasefire is set to take hold at 4 a.m. local time Wednesday. Efforts led by the U.S. and France for the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah underscored that they still view the resolution as key. For almost a year, Washington has promoted various versions of a deal that would gradually lead to its full implementation. International mediators hope that by boosting financial support for the Lebanese army — which was not a party in the Israel-Hezbollah war — Lebanon can deploy some 6,000 additional troops south of the Litani River to help enforce the resolution. Under the deal, an international monitoring committee headed by the United States would oversee implementation to ensure that Hezbollah and Israel’s withdrawals take place. It is not entirely clear how the committee would work or how potential violations would be reported and dealt with. The circumstances now are far more complicated than in 2006. Some are still skeptical of the resolution’s viability given that the political realities and balance of power both regionally and within Lebanon have dramatically changed since then. “You’re tying 1701 with a hundred things,” Bahout said. “A resolution is the reflection of a balance of power and political context.” Now with the ceasefire in place, the hope is that Israel and Lebanon can begin negotiations to demarcate their land border and settle disputes over several points along the Blue Line for long-term security after decades of conflict and tension.
‘Maharashtra has broken all records’: PM Modi hails BJP-led Mahayuti's thumping victory, says lies, deceit badly lostPlanning your evening meals just got a whole lot easier. We're all familiar with the struggle of dreaming up varied and mouth-watering options every night - it can be quite the mission, particularly when time is tight, and you need something swift. If you're weary of the same old dishes constantly gracing your dinner table, fret not; we've unearthed a smashing chicken that's not only quick to prepare in about 30 minutes but will inject some excitement into your daily diet. And what's more, this adaptable dish goes splendidly with a wide array of sides - whether it's a dollop of indulgent mashed potatoes or nestled on a bed of light, fluffy rice. The real charm here is that by varying your side dishes, you can offer the same crowd-pleaser multiple times without falling into a dining rut. The meal causing a stir is a delectable creamy Tuscan chicken delight that's achieved viral status on social media for its ease of preparation and robust taste. Kyra, a food and lifestyle guru on TikTok, brought this recipe to prominence, hailing the dish as "easy" and "healthy". Considering it involves just six key ingredients and a mere half-hour to make, it appears she's struck culinary gold. Although the video caption did not outline a specific cooking method, Kyra began by placing two chicken breasts onto a chopping board and cutting them in half to create four thinner portions. The video shows her then sprinkling the chicken with a liberal amount of paprika and seasoning, making sure to cover both sides. She then fried the chicken breasts in a pan coated with oil, occasionally turning them over until they were seared and browned on both sides. Once they were cooked, she took the chicken out of the pan and instantly added butter and chopped garlic, stirring continuously until the aroma was released. Next, Kyra added quartered tomatoes, chicken stock, and soft cheese to the pan, stirring constantly until the cheese melted into a creamy sauce. After that, she put the chicken back into the pan, added some spinach on top, and let it simmer until the spinach had wilted and the chicken was fully cooked. To complete the meal, Kyra served the chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, although viewers were free to serve it however they pleased. The recipe seemed to be a hit, with many expressing their eagerness to give it a try, describing the final product as "absolutely mouthwatering". The video received plenty of positive comments, with one user saying: "I see this all the time! I think it's my sign to make it." Meanwhile, another satisfied foodie shared their experience: "I made this tonight, step by step, except I just air-fried baby potatoes. Overall, the chicken came out so good!"Oti Mabuse recently competed in the 2024 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! , making it to the final but ultimately finishing in fourth place. Oti is best known as a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing . Just one week after leaving the Australian outback, Oti appears to have already set her sights on her next venture. This weekend, Oti will try her luck on the celebrity edition of Stephen Mulhern's Deal or No Deal, selecting boxes and hoping all the nasty surprises were left behind in the Aussie jungle. Oti will appear on the show alongside her sister, Motsi Mabuse , who is also a renowned professional dancer. Joining the lineup are Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, Dancing On Ice legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, ice skater Sylvain Longchambon, and Bad Education actor Layton Williams . This celebrity installment is part of four special episodes in the second season of the revamped game show, airing Sunday at 7 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX. The mum-of-one lit up as she stepped out of her taxi to a crowd of supporters . Love Island star Maura Higgins was the first to embrace her, followed by a swarm of past contestants who showered her with affection. Radio host Dean McCullough leaned in to whisper a warm greeting, while boxer Barry McGuigan gave a playful bow to welcome her into the group. As applause filled the hotel lobby, podcaster GK Barry and Loose Women ’s Jane Moore also greeted her with enthusiasm. Coronation Street star Alan Halsall rounded out the warm reception, sharing a heartfelt hug with the dancer. But it was Radio 1 DJ Melvin Odoom who had the most emotional reunion with Oti. The pair energetically embraced after bonding in the jungle, and other friends and family watched on as the small group of celebrities cheered. Oti then began to cry and was seen wiping the tears away from her eyes. The pair had described each other as being 'like family' in the show, with Oti coming to Melvin's aid when he felt ready to quit. Maura began chanting Oti's name, and the clapping and cheering did not stop until a show executive intervened to drag the dancer away from the crowd. As Oti left the entrance, Maura appeared to wipe away tears as the group went back to chatting among themselves. Noticeably absent was N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos who has reportedly returned to the UK after being left overwhelmed by her time in the jungle. Oti had several deep and meaningful chats with her campmates during the show . During one episode, she opened up on the personal hardships she has faced, especially recently, after giving birth to her one-year-old daughter, who was born premature at just 28 weeks in November 2023. Speaking about the traumatic birth - and people recognising her in the hospital because she is famous - Oti confessed: "I was having to still be my usual, bubbly self. But I wasn't feeling bubbly inside. I just remember going to the shower and I was crying. I was just devastated, but nothing was wrong. I had a new baby, the midwives were amazing, my husband was there. It was like nothing was wrong, but everything was wrong."
