Clarion went on a long drive capped off by a 10-yard run from QB Jase Ferguson. With 6:27 remaining in the game, Troy stuck with what worked for them; running the football. Led by running back Brendan Gillilland, who had three scores up until this point, the Trojans methodically marched down the field taking precious minutes off the clock. Down at the Clarion 16-yard line with under two minutes remaining in the game, head coach Jim Smith dialed up what should’ve been a pitch pass. Clarion sniffed it out which led to Mason Smith taking matters into his own hands, becoming a Troy legend in the process.
