In an interview on Fox News Live former CIA operations officer Laura Ballman offered her theory as to what the mysterious drone sightings could be and how the federal government isn't being "transparent" with the American people. Sightings of these drones in the northeastern night sky hav sky rocked in recent weeks with reports from several states most notably in New Jersey where the first sightings were reported. The state now seen over 1,000 reports of these unknown SUV-sized drones, terrifying residents and prompting demands from state and local officials that the federal government in step and definitively answer what these strange flying objects are. Federal officials have continuously downplayed the risk of these drones saying they are not a national security threat or the result of a foreign actor. Aliens 'trying to send us a message about nuclear weapons' says ex-US army official Pentagon insider accuses government of concealing UFO evidence: 'We are not alone' In a call with reporters Saturday that was organized by the White House, senior officials from the FBI, Pentagon, FAA and other agencies sought to assure people that the drones are not a national security or public safety threat or the handywork of a malicious foreign actor. But Ballman offered her own theory during her appearance on Fox News, saying that the federal government needs to be "more transparent" with the American people, implying that there is some information about these sightings that the federal government is not revealing. Ballman suggested that this may be a classified exercise by the U.S Military to test detection evasion systems. “Now in terms of who is behind this, deducing the statements that have been made by John Kirby, who has said that these objects are not operating illegally coupled with the several op-eds that have been out the last 24 hours about the need to look at our detection systems, makes me think, perhaps, this is actually a classified exercise to test either evasion technology or detection technology in urban areas,” Ballman told Fox News. “In terms of why the federal government would not be more forthcoming, I’ve actually been troubled by that. If I were in a position to advise on this, I would say it’s time to become more transparent," she added. Ballman is not the only one calling for the federal government to do more to assure the American people of what exactly these drones are. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wrote to President Joe Biden asking for answers. New Jersey’s new senator, Andy Kim, spent Thursday night on a drone hunt in rural northern New Jersey and posted about it on X. Murphy and law enforcement officials have stressed that the drones don’t appear to be a threat to public safety, but many state and municipal lawmakers have nonetheless called for stricter rules about who can fly the unmanned aircraft. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Saturday joined Murphy in his appeals to the Biden administration, calling on Congress to pass the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act, a bill that would give more oversight of drone policy to state and local governments. “Until those powers are granted to state and local officials, the Biden Administration must step in by directing additional federal law enforcement to New York and the surrounding region to ensure the safety of our critical infrastructure and our people,” Hochul said in a statement posted to X. The FBI is among several agencies investigating and has asked residents to share videos, photos and other information they may have about the drones. If you're a traveling golfer, it's important you get your body moving right when you arrive. Courtesy / Getty Images At GOLF.com, we stumble across all sorts of goodies. Here, we unveil some of our favorites from the past year. Why this piece of equipment is a must for golf travel Anyone who travels knows that when you arrive at your destination, your body doesn’t feel quite right. After hours in the car or cramped in an airline seat, it takes a little while for your body to move the way you’re used to. This can pose some problems if you’re going straight from the airport to the first tee. And I know when I go on a buddies trip, I make it a point to play as much golf as possible, which often means teeing it up promptly upon arrival. After a long day in transit, though, my body rarely cooperates. Without the benefit of some serious stretching and massaging, my swing speed is down, my feel around the greens is off and my game is sloppy. It’s not exactly a great recipe for success. So where to turn for answers? No one knows how to travel and play good golf better than the pros. With a a physio on the traveling team, though, that’s not a surprise. These are professional athletes, after all. But there’s another secret to their recovery process — and it comes in the form of a variety of devices from Hyperice, the official recovery system of the PGA Tour. Hyperice offers a variety of products for optimal recovery, but to me the most useful is the Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2. This mini massage gun is small enough to travel with me anywhere I go and helps me get loose once I’m there. Like most recovery guns, the Hypervolt Go 2 gives a percussive massage for relief on-the-go — and it’s so easy to use even the most technologically deficient among us can figure it out. All you’ve got to do is keep it charged up and push the button to start it up. Easy peasy. My recovery after a long day of travel has never been better since I started using the Hypervolt Go 2 — and my scores early in my trips have never been lower. The only downside is now I don’t have any good excuses for bogeys early on in my rounds. Now, I’ve got no one to blame but myself. It’s a small price to pay for the relief I feel when I use the Hypervolt Go 2. Aces will be wild for the Nittany Lions (8-1, 1-0 Big Ten) and the Scarlet Knights (5-4, 0-1) as Penn State's Ace Baldwin Jr. will square off against Ace Bailey of Rutgers. Baldwin is the Nittany Lions' leading scorer at 15.1 points per game and dishes out 8.1 assists -- fourth in the nation entering Monday's action. He registered 17 points and six assists Thursday in an 81-70 victory over then-No. 8 Purdue in a game where Penn State led by as many as 27. Freddie Dilione V chipped in 14 points for the Nittany Lions, who had not defeated a Top 10 team since 2019. "A win like that's a statement win," Dilione said. "I just think it's going to put everybody on notice. We're just a walkover team. We're always going be the underdogs, and that's our mentality. We've just got to come in every game and just punch everybody in the mouth." Penn State must be careful not to suffer a letdown against a talented Rutgers squad led by freshmen Dylan Harper (23.1 points per game) and Bailey (17.9). The duo combined for 30 points in the Scarlet Knights' last game -- an 80-66 setback at Ohio State. The defeat was the fourth in the last five games for Rutgers, which plays seven of its next eight in New Jersey. "We've got to get better," Scarlet Knights coach Steve Pikiell said. "We got to get some more consistency out of a lot of things, especially our defense. Can't give up 80 points on the road and expect to win in this league." In last season's meeting with Penn State, it was offense that was Rutgers' biggest issue. The Scarlet Knights shot just 1-of-17 from 3-point range and 34 percent overall in a 61-46 home defeat. "(It's about) finding ways of how to bounce back as a team and staying together," Harper said. "Even though we lose, we're still going to find a way." --Field Level Media
Foldable phones are no longer reserved for those with deep pockets, and Tecno is proving that with its latest offering—the Phantom V Fold 2. At ₹ 79,999, it’s almost half the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or less than 40% of the cost of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and is possibly the most impressive generation leap in its category. Let me explain. In my review of the first-generation PHANTOM V Fold, I said the phone has its shortcomings — software that needs optimising, hardware that needed to shave off several tens of grams, and a physical footprint that can be uncomfortable. Well, TECNO has fixed all that and some, all the while dropping the asking price by about ₹10,000. The PHANTOM V Fold 2 is slimmer, lighter (down from 299 grams to a hair under 250 grams), beautifully designed and gives users without deep pockets a chance at using a foldable smartphone without spending an arm and a leg. From large, vibrant displays to stylus support and impressive battery life, this phone has a lot going for it. But, of course, no phone is perfect. So, does the PHANTOM V Fold 2 deliver where it counts? Let’s dive in. Big, Bold, and Lighter Than Before The Phantom V Fold 2 makes an impression right out of the box. TECNO partnered with Spanish luxury brand Loewe to refine the design, giving it a premium feel that’s unexpected for its price. The circular camera module from its predecessor has been replaced with a sleek rectangular setup housing three 50MP cameras. But the real game-changer? The weight. At 249 grams, it’s 50 grams lighter than the first Phantom Fold. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239 grams, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes in at 258g. Despite being lighter, the Phantom V Fold 2 feels solid and premium in hand, with curved sides that make it easier to hold and unfold. It’s also rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, which is a nice touch. That said, it’s still a big phone. The cover screen is a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Unfold it, and you’re greeted with a massive 7.85-inch AMOLED display, also with 120Hz support. Both screens are sharp, bright, and colourful, though the folding display isn’t as bright as the cover screen. Still, it’s perfectly usable even in sunlight. The bezels on the inner display are slightly larger than those of its competitors, but they’re not distracting. Plus, the phone supports the new Phantom V Pen for precise input and note-taking, though TECNO didn’t include the stylus with the review unit. A Crease-Free Experience and a Sturdy Hinge One of the standout features of the PHANTOM V Fold 2 is its almost invisible crease. You’ll only notice it if you actively look for it, which is a big win for a foldable in this price range. The hinge, made of “aerospace-grade high-strength” material, is rated for 400,000 folds. While it’s not as robust as the Galaxy Z Fold6’s hinge and doesn’t prop up easily at all angles, it gets the job done. There is, however, a slight creaking noise when folding and unfolding the phone — could have been just my unit, though. TECNO also includes a good-quality case with a built-in kickstand in the box, which lets you prop up the phone when it’s fully unfolded—a thoughtful addition. Packed With Features and a Battery That Lasts Under the hood, the PHANTOM V Fold 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. That’s double the base storage of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6. It runs on Android 14-based HiOS 14.5, which is loaded with features. While the interface could use some polish, you’ll keep discovering new tools as you explore the device. Multitasking is where this phone shines. Running two apps side by side is seamless, and a simple swipe down the middle splits the screen. Whether you’re juggling work apps like Slack and Teams or scrolling through Instagram and WhatsApp, the PHANTOM V Fold 2 handles it all effortlessly. Battery life is another highlight. The phone packs a massive 5,750mAh battery—the largest in a book-style foldable. It easily lasts a full day, even with heavy multitasking. And when you do need to charge, the 70W fast charging gets you up and running quickly. It also supports 15W wireless charging, a feature missing on some pricier competitors like the OnePlus Open. AI-Powered Tools and Capable Cameras TECNO has gone all-in on AI features. From the AI Cam mode in the camera app to tools like object removal and sticker creation in the gallery, almost everything feels AI-driven. There’s even a ChatGPT-powered assistant called Ella, along with sketch-to-image tools and quick text summaries. As for the cameras, the Phantom V Fold 2 sports three 50MP sensors: a primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a portrait camera with 2x optical zoom, and an ultrawide-angle lens. On the front, there are 32MP selfie cameras on both the cover and folding displays. The cameras perform well in daylight, delivering vibrant photos with decent dynamic range. Low-light performance, however, is a mixed bag, with details often getting smoothed out. Still, for the price, the camera setup holds its own against more expensive foldables. What Could Be Better? Look, the story here isn't whether or not the PHANTOM V Fold 2 is the best foldable out there. The story is the fact that it is a foldable priced at ₹80,000, which is still less than you'd have to fork out for any other foldable selling at a deep discount during the festive season — for the uninitiated, this was the one-year-old OnePlus Open, which launched at ₹1.40 lakh and dropped to ₹99,999 this festive season. The PHANTOM V Fold 2 gets a lot right, but there are a few areas where it falls short. For one, it’s running on a 2022 processor and a 2023 OS. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset is capable for now, but it may struggle to keep up in the long run. Then there’s the software update policy. TECNO promises only two Android updates and three years of security patches. Considering the phone already runs Android 14, you’ll only get updates until Android 16, which limits its longevity. If the hinge is rated for 400,000 folds, shouldn’t the software support last just as long? The Verdict: A Foldable Worth Considering At ₹ 79,999, the TECNO PHANTOM V Fold 2 is THE most affordable book-style foldable in the Indian market—and it delivers a lot for the price. From its big, vibrant displays and excellent multitasking capabilities to its lightweight design and impressive battery life, it’s a solid choice for productivity-focused users. Now, whether you'd want to spend that much on this device or choose a safer smartphone is entirely between you and your wallet. Should you, however, want to dip your toes into the wonderfully weird world of foldable smartphones, the PHANTOM V Fold 2 is an excellent choice. It is the perfect gateway device, proving that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a capable, feature-rich foldable phone. As the season progresses, Peyton and his teammates are committed to maintaining their defensive intensity and effectiveness, as they strive to make a deep playoff run and compete for a championship title.
