There aren’t many things more difficult in life than losing a parent. Even when you’ve grown into an adult with children and a family of your own, parents are still everpresent in our lives, and their passing will always come as a massive emotional blow. That’s what Denver Broncos QB Zach Wilson’s mother, Lisa Neeleman Wilson, has been dealing with recently. About three months ago, Zach lost his grandpa, but Lisa lost her father, Gary Neeleman, who was 90 at the time of his passing. Recently, Lisa was reminiscing about Gary, and decided to post a compilation video of her cherished moments with her father as well as a few photos taken of the family at his funeral. She also included a heartfelt message about her dearly departed dad. Sharing her journey through the grief of losing a loved one has helped Lisa deal with such a crushing loss. She also informed everyone that Gary’s final day was a beautiful one during which he was surrounded by family, which must have, if only slightly, eased his passing for the family. While we may know Gary as Zach Wilson’s grandpa, he was much more than that. He was a journalist all over the Western Hemisphere, from Brazil to the Caribbean to Los Angeles. Gary was also as tough as they come. He lost his eyesight after a jogging accident, dealt with a botched surgery at age 70, a stroke at 80, and a car accident at 88, and kept on chugging along. Zach Wilson’s mom shares her eulogy online As part of her post, Zach Wilson’s mother decided that, rather than come up with new words to communicate her relationship with her father on social media, she’d simply use the words she spoke at the funeral for her father’s eulogy. She also discussed their mutual love of eggs and disdain for swimming. Lisa then outlined some of the things he taught her, including a love for her country and her Dutch heritage. She even included a funny quip about their shared “resistance to mosquito bites.” Zach Wilson can be seen in many of the photos in Lisa’s Instagram slideshow. No doubt, his grandpa was a large influence on his life, and he was similarly affected by his passing. Wilson is currently QB3 for the Denver Broncos , sitting behind rookie Bo Nix and veteran journeyman Jarrett Stidham. The Broncos take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.Stock market today: Wall Street rises with Nvidia as bitcoin bursts above $99,000Professional Development Market in the US to Grow by USD 4.82 Billion (2023-2028), Driven by AI-Powered Market Evolution and Key Segment Insights - Technavio
In an indirect warning to Keir Starmer, Tony Blair warned that taking more money out of people's pockets would make them feel disillusioned with politics. According to the former prime minister, poor public services, along with raised levels of taxation, public debt, and spending, are adding to public frustration not just in Britain but in every developed nation. Writing in the Daily Mail , Sir Tony said we live in an era of disruption, including in politics, and Britain faces the same dilemma. He added: "Our taxes are high; our spending and levels of public debt are high; and our service outcomes are poor." The former PM continued: "That is why politics is being disrupted. Any politician today, who is promising management of the status quo and not fundamental change of it, will lose." Blair's suggestion that high taxes alienate voters and disrupt politics is particularly significant in the UK, as it comes after Chancellor Rachel Reeves introduced £40 billion worth of taxes in her first budget . It amounts to the biggest tax rise in 30 years, but companies will bear much of the burden, leading some to complain they won't be able to invest in boosting productivity to help generate the economic growth the Government is dreaming of. The Chancellor's biggest revenue raiser is an increase in employer tax , which is expected to raise £25bn per year. The move has prompted consternation within businesses and warnings of lower wages and job cuts. In her Budget speech, Ms Reeves argued that she is asking businesses to contribute more, telling Parliament that successful businesses depend on successful schools, healthy firms need a healthy NHS, and a strong economy is dependent on strong public finances. Mr Blair, who was Labour prime minister from 1997 to 2007, warned the UK's present dilemma led to a splintering of the vote at the general election in July when MPs were elected from the Greens, Reform UK and independents. Sir Tony argues in his op-ed that lower taxes , reduced spending and better public service outcomes often appear to be "the Holy Grail of governing", but modern technology "puts it within reach". He went on to champion digital ID as "a good place to start", despite the Government having ruled out ID cards. Sir Tony said crime rates could be cut thanks to facial recognition, data and DNA while interactive app could provide pupils with personal tutoring. The former PM said the financial and energy crises, changes to the global economy, the COVID-19 pandemic, Britain's Brexit vote, and frequent changes in the UK's leadership have taken their toll. He argued that the challenges of governing today are "infinitely harder", but a technology revolution has the potential to be transformative. Sir Tony went on to outline the benefits in health, welfare, and immigration that could accrue from a "once-in-a-generation" shake-up of the system.

The 2-0 defeat by Juventus means that City will at best probably face a two-legged play-off at best, and yet more demanding fixtures, although they are in danger of crashing out of European competition completely. Asked about City’s apparent lack of confidence, with just one win in that sequence of games, Gundogan said that teams did not have to “do that much” to score against them. The midfielder added that a lack of confidence “is a big part of it” and added: “Obviously that’s a mental issue as well. You can see that. We sometimes, one action we miss the ball, lose a duel and you see that we drop immediately, lose the rhythm, they are able to break our rhythm with the easiest of things. They don’t even need to do much. “You have to do the simple things as good as possible. Work hard again, this is how you get confidence back, even in the game if you miss something, by doing small and simple things you get confidence back. At the moment we are always doing the wrong things. “I feel like we know exactly what’s going wrong. If you look at the most part of games, even today, we actually didn’t play bad, created chances, just missed to score, in these kind of games if you give away once chance it’s not easy to bounce back. “We know what’s going wrong, it’s just finding the switch to turn things around because even though we are not getting results, it doesn’t feel like we are far off. “As long as we don’t find that click, it’s going to be tough. Every single player needs to question themselves, to do better, how the player can individually sacrifice more to contribute to the team so we can get collectively back on our way.” Once again City, who have conceded 23 times in their last 10 matches, appear to give away goals cheaply with simple mistakes. “At the moment it feels like every attack we concede is just so dangerous,” Gundogan said. “I don’t know, I have a feeling sometimes we are a bit careless with duels, instead of playing simpl,e we overcomplicate things, and we missed the right timing to release the ball. Just lose the ball and give them counter-attacks. “We are built for possession, keep the ball, be strong, if you can’t do anything don’t lose it. At the moment it’s not working out for us.” Pep Guardiola disputed Gundogan’s analysis. “I am not agreeing with Ilkay, of course it is tough, except one or two games in this period that were not good, the rest we played good,” the City manager said. He added that he questions himself. “Of course. I have my thoughts,” he said. “We play really good. You say what happened in the results. What happened today we played good. Of course I question myself. I’m stable in good moments, bad moments. “I’m incredibly honest, if we play good we play good. Always the game will save us. We can do it, today we concede few chances.” Guardiola rejected the idea that he was facing the biggest challenge of his career with City’s current crisis. “My biggest challenge is to get results to continue to work in the first seasons. It’s life, it happens, sometimes you have a bad period. I’m going to insist until we’re there,” he said, adding that the aim now was to qualify for the play-offs. “It’s the target, we need one point, three points. Go to Paris [to face PSG in January] to try to do it and the last game at home [against Club Brugge].” Rio Ferdinand claimed no one is scared of City anymore and no great team had lost the ability to inspire “fear” in their opponents as quickly as they have. Former Manchester United captain Ferdinand also said he had not seen any Guardiola side “ever be this bad” after watching them crash to their latest defeat. Ferdinand’s fellow TNT Sports pundit Joleon Lescott claimed City’s opponents had lost the “fear factor” when playing the defending Premier League champions. Former City defender Lescott said: “We all talk about the confidence of City, but they’re also losing the fear factor from the opposition, and that’s a big thing. When Rio played for United, you went there and you were in fear. If they went in front, you were in fear. But then, all of a sudden, when that goes, it just breeds confidence to the opposition.” Ferdinand added: “You’ve never seen it go out of a team so quick. The dominant teams, like the Chelseas and the Arsenals or even the teams that I played in or before me, I don’t think the dominance was kind of zapped out of the team and that fear factor was taken out immediately like this. This is like in a seven or eight-game spell. “A team that’s been so dominant, it’s so surprising to see that change so quickly.” Ferdinand had earlier said: “We just haven’t seen a Pep Guardiola side – forget Man City – a Pep Guardiola side in general ever be this bad. And he’s got to find a way of galvanising this team and reinstalling some form and confidence. “And I think it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, this is a stark reminder to any young footballer or any players that play football, anyone can lose confidence and it really, really hurt performance, and it really hurt form, and really hurt outcomes in terms of games and winning games.” He added: “For City, there’s a lot of work to be done behind the scenes now. They’ve never been here and you’re going to find out about a lot of the players here. Because it’s a nice ride to be on, it’s a nice journey to be on, when you’re winning. When it’s not going well, who is going to help you get back on the straight and narrow, back to normality? Pep will learn a lot about his players in this period.” Juventus became the latest team to ruthlessly punish City when winning possession. Ferdinand said: “Turnovers are killing them massively. As soon as they turn the ball over, they look vulnerable. Teams are slicing through them, running off players. There are big holes and big, big spaces on the pitch for teams to exploit. And they’re getting punished. And that’s a big key as well.” Lescott added: “City need to find an alternative to scoring the perfect goal and it looking slick and it being a great pass and a great touch and a great finish. Maybe just create some uncertainty in the opposition that leads to a tap-in.” City’s defeat puts them in real danger of being dumped out of the Champions League before the knockout phase, amid their worst run of results for almost two decades. It comes after they became the first club to be crowned champions of England in four successive seasons. Ferdinand said of their fans: “They’ve been able to gloat and they’ve been able to take the mickey out of people. They’re going to be the butt of a few jokes now and they’re going to have to take it on the chin.”Dejan Kulusevski cannot wait for the opportunity to play against Manchester City again after Tottenham ran riot at the Etihad Stadium. The Sweden midfielder hailed Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing of the champions as the best game of his career. The 24-year-old delivered an outstanding performance as Spurs shattered the champions’ 52-game unbeaten home run, helping start the rout with a superb cross for James Maddison’s opening goal. Kulusevski said: “I believed (we would win) this because in the past years, we’ve come here and played really well. “So this is the game I look forward to most in the year and, once again, it happened – glory to God. “I’d say it’s the best result ever in my career. It’s a big night for the whole club, for the coach, for the players. “Because City have a lot of the ball sometimes, we can rest when we defend. There’s also so much space up there, we play one against one and then it’s always dangerous because we have a lot of quality. “It’s always great to play great teams because they always want to play football. When you play lower teams, sometimes it’s not. There’s not much football played because they are a lot of fouls, a lot of injuries and it’s slow going.” Maddison stole the show with two goals in quick succession in the first half while Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson later got on the scoresheet. Kulu-chef-ski cooked 👨🍳 📊 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) Yet Kulusevski’s performance was also eye-catching and the player himself believes there is plenty more to come from him. Asked if his form made him feel “unstoppable”, Kulusevski said: “I feel like that. I feel very good and I’m trying to keep this way. I’m very happy, I’m trying to improve. “I started the season good but there is over half of the season left and I hope I can do much better. “I think I have something that no other player has. With my engine, with my heart – I don’t get tired – I feel like I can do a lot still in my career.” Spurs have won more matches against Pep Guardiola's Man City than any other side 👀 — Premier League (@premierleague) Tottenham’s scintillating performance marked a spectacular return to form after their dismal loss to Ipswich in their previous Premier League outing. Kulusevski said: “We have to be much more consistent. It’s not a turning point. We just have to be better in other games. “This game suited us perfectly but we have a lot of improvement to make in the other games.”

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks tiptoed to more records amid a mixed Tuesday of trading, tacking a touch more onto what’s already been a stellar year so far. The S&P 500 edged up by 2 points, or less than 0.1%, to set an all-time high for the 55th time this year. It’s climbed in 10 of the last 11 days and is on track for one of its best years since the turn of the millennium. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 76 points, or 0.2%, while the Nasdaq composite added 0.4% to its own record set a day earlier. AT&T rose 4.6% after it boosted its profit forecast for the year. It also announced a $10 billion plan to send cash to its investors by buying back its own stock, while saying it expects to authorize another $10 billion of repurchases in 2027. On the losing end of Wall Street was U.S. Steel, which fell 8%. President-elect reiterated on social media that he would not let Japan’s Nippon Steel take over the iconic Pennsylvania steelmaker. announced plans last December to buy the Pittsburgh-based steel producer for $14.1 billion in cash, raising concerns about what the transaction could mean for unionized workers, supply chains and U.S. national security. In the bond market, Treasury yields held relatively steady after a report showed U.S. at the end of October than a month earlier. Continued strength there would raise optimism that the economy could remain out of a recession that many investors had earlier worried was inevitable. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 4.23% from 4.20% from late Monday. Yields have seesawed since Election Day amid worries that Trump’s preferences for and could spur along with economic growth. But traders are still confident the will at its next meeting in two weeks. The key report this week that could guide the Fed’s next move will arrive on Friday. It’s the , which will show how many workers U.S. employers hired and fired during November. In financial markets abroad, the value of South Korea’s currency fell 1.1% against the U.S. dollar following a frenetic night where and then later said he’d lift it after lawmakers voted to reject military rule. No. 2 Ohio State answered the call against the No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers. Despite the buzz surrounding Indiana's surprise 10-0 start under first-year head coach Curt Cignetti, the Buckeyes shut down any hopes of an upset early. Ohio State entered halftime with a one-touchdown lead and outscored Indiana by 17 points in the second half to cruise to a 38-15 victory. Unsurprisingly, there was some trolling from Ohio State directed at Indiana during and after the big win. From Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard's touchdown celebration to OSU head coach Ryan Day tacking on an extra score late in the game, the Buckeyes had some words for the Hoosiers. NCAAF HQ: Live NCAAF scores | Updated NCAAF standings | Full NCAAF schedule Did Ryan Day run up the score? You be the judge here. Indiana found the end zone for the second time Saturday with 1:53 remaining in the game. The Buckeyes were expected to just run the ball for a first down and either run out the clock or kneel down to ice the win at Ohio Stadium. But Buckeyes running back TreVeon Henderson ran 38 yards and went down right at the Indiana 1-yard line with 1:10 left on the clock. Instead of kneeling down, Day decided to add insult to injury and punch the ball into the end zone. His quarterback Will Howard scored on a one-yard run to give Ohio State a 23-point lead. After the game, Day told reporters that he wanted to put an exclamation point on the game. Will Howard trolls Curt Cignetti: 'Google that!' First, a brief backstory: During one of Cignetti's first Indiana press conferences last December, the new head coach was asked about how he planned to sell his visions to recruits. His response went viral , as he said: "It's pretty simple, I win — Google me." Indiana Coach Curt Cignetti: I win. Google me. He clarified that he was just having fun, and that he has plenty of respect for Indiana and for Cignetti. “I was just having some fun with it. I got a lot of respect for those guys, man. Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the meeting of the deputy foreign ministers of Iran, France, Germany and the United Kingdom would take place on Friday, without specifying a venue. "A range of regional and international issues and topics, including the issues of Palestine and Lebanon, as well as the nuclear issue, will be discussed," the spokesman said in a foreign ministry statement. Baghaei described the upcoming meeting as a continuation of talks held with the countries in September on the sidelines of the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On Thursday, the 35-nation board of governors of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution denouncing Iran for what it called a lack of cooperation. The move came as tensions ran high over Iran's atomic programme, which critics fear is aimed at developing a nuclear weapon -- something Tehran has repeatedly denied. In response to the resolution, Iran announced it was launching a "series of new and advanced centrifuges". Centrifuges enrich uranium transformed into gas by rotating it at very high speed, increasing the proportion of fissile isotope material (U-235). "We will substantially increase the enrichment capacity with the utilisation of different types of advanced machines," Behrouz Kamalvandi, Iran's atomic energy organisation spokesman, told state TV. The country, however, also said it planned to continue its "technical and safeguards cooperation with the IAEA". During a recent visit to Tehran by IAEA head Rafael Grossi, Iran agreed to the agency's demand to cap its sensitive stock of near weapons-grade uranium enriched up to 60 percent purity. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in power since July and a supporter of dialogue with Western countries, has said he wants to remove "doubts and ambiguities" about his country's nuclear programme. In 2015, Iran and world powers reached an agreement that saw the easing of international sanctions on Tehran in exchange for curbs on its nuclear programme. But the United States unilaterally withdrew from the accord in 2018 under then-president Donald Trump and reimposed biting economic sanctions, which prompted Iran to begin rolling back on its own commitments. On Sunday afternoon, the United Kingdom confirmed the upcoming meeting between Iran and the three European countries. "We remain committed to taking every diplomatic step to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, including through snapback if necessary," London's Foreign Office said. The 2015 deal contains a "snapback" mechanism that can be triggered in case of "significant non-performance" of commitments by Iran, allowing many sanctions to be reimposed. Ali Vaez, an Iran expert with the International Crisis Group think tank, told AFP that Friday's meeting was set to happen earlier, but "those plans were derailed as a result of Iran-Israel tensions" over the Gaza war. Though the parties will be meeting "without knowing what the incoming Trump administration wants to do", Vaez said that "after a lose-lose cycle of mutual escalation, now both sides are back to realising that engagement might be the least costly option." Tehran has since 2021 decreased its cooperation with the IAEA by deactivating surveillance devices monitoring the nuclear programme and barring UN inspectors. At the same time, it has increased its stockpiles of enriched uranium and the level of enrichment to 60 percent. That level is close, according to the IAEA, to the 90 percent-plus threshold required for a nuclear warhead, and substantially higher than the 3.67 percent limit it agreed to in 2015. pdm/smw/amiNEW YORK , Dec. 11, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Report on how AI is driving market transformation - The global cruise tourism market size is estimated to grow by USD 24.88 billion from 2024-2028, according to Technavio.
