LONDON — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit Norway on Monday where he is expected to tout a "green industrial partnership" on renewable energy and carbon capture to tackle climate change. Bondi's relationship with Romney dates back to at least 2012 when she endorsed his presidential campaign. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said linebacker De'Vondre Campbell won't be part of the 49ers moving forward after he refused to enter a game after losing his starting job. Shanahan said the team is still working through the options of how to deal with Campbell, who walked to the locker room in the middle of a 12-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night when he refused to enter the game. “His actions from the game are not something you can do to your team or teammates and still expect to be a part of our team,” Shanahan said Friday. “We're working through the semantics right now, but we'll handle the situation appropriately." Shanahan said Campbell won't be part of the team for the final three weeks. Teams have the ability to suspend players up to four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team, according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Niners also could just waive Campbell outright, which would allow him potentially to be claimed or signed by another team. Campbell signed a $5 million, one-year contract with San Francisco in March. Campbell had started 12 of the first 13 games of the season and played 90% of defensive snaps for the 49ers but was benched Thursday night after Dre Greenlaw came back for his first game since tearing his left Achilles tendon in last season’s Super Bowl. When the 49ers wanted to put Campbell in the game in the third quarter because Greenlaw was sidelined with soreness in his Achilles tendon, Campbell refused, something Shanahan said has never happened to him in his time as a head coach or an assistant in the NFL. Shanahan said Friday that he has not gotten any explanation from Campbell on why he didn't play. Campbell then walked off the field with a towel draped over his head and went into the locker room before the end of the game with the Rams that almost ended the 49ers' playoff hopes. Shanahan said he didn't send Campbell to the locker room and didn't know why he left the field. “Once I found out he wasn't playing, I moved on to people we could count on,” he said. Campbell's decision left his teammates angered and bewildered. "He’s a professional,” cornerback Charvarius Ward said after the game. “He’s been playing for a long time. If he didn’t want to play, he shouldn’t have dressed out. He could have told them before the game. So I feel like that was selfish. It definitely hurt the team. Dre went down and we needed a linebacker. ... For him to do that, that’s sucker (stuff) in my opinion. He’s probably going to get cut soon.” Ward is one of several 49ers who has played through injury or personal tragedy during a trying season for San Francisco. Ward’s 1-year-old daughter died on Oct. 28 but he has returned and played the last three games for San Francisco. Tight end George Kittle called Campbell's actions “stupid” and “immature.” “It’s one person making a selfish decision,” Kittle said. “I’ve never been around anybody that’s ever done that and I hope I’m never around anybody who does that again.” The 31-year-old Campbell signed in the offseason with San Francisco after being cut by Green Bay in March. He had been an All-Pro in 2021 for the Packers but his play fell off the last two seasons in Green Bay. That led to Campbell complaining on social media that he was misused by Green Bay. He expressed excitement about being with a new team but he never got back to his All-Pro level. Coach Bob Marlin’s Ragin’ Cajuns lost three games in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the fell to Nicholls 76-75 on Saturday in the Cajundome. The Cajuns are 1-7 for the season for the worst start since opening 1-8 and 2-11 in Marlin’s first season at UL in 2010-11. UL’s next chance to end its six-game losing streak will actually be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday against Louisiana Tech at home. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, but moved to not conflict with football’s 6:30 p.m. Sun Belt championship game against Marshall. Believe it or not, though, there were a few positive signs in the boxscores. Leading the way is 6-foot-8 redshirt sophomore Kyran Ratliff, who has enjoyed career highs in each of his last three games. The best one came Saturday when the New Orleans native poured in 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds and two steals. “He’s really stepped up and done a nice job,” Marlin said of Ratliff. “He played better in the Virgin Islands and showed from fight against the all-conference MVP from UAB. “He’s been shooting the 3-point shot well, something he can do. He’s shooting free throws better. He’s rebounding the ball, and that’s the main thing we’re encouraged about.” Moreover, Ratliff is the only Cajun player who make more than one 3-pointer at 3-for-5 shooting behind the arc. “We certainly need it,” Marlin said. “We have trouble scoring at times. He’s a guy who can shoot the ball.” The other aspect of the losing that doesn’t add up is how few times UL had turned it over. The only game the Cajuns had more than 11 turnovers was 14 in their one win of the season. UL turned it over eight times twice, 10 and 11 in the last four losses. “We’ve really valued the basketball, taking good care of it,” Marlin said. “I saw improvement during the three games in the Virgin Islands and also saw a lot of improvement this past week.” Illness and injuries haven’t helped either. Jeremiah Evans could return for Sunday’s game after missing the Nicholls loss with a concussion. Marlin said Louisville transfer Koron Davis is currently “unavailable” and his status for future games are uncertain for a non-basketball issue. “Right now, he’s unavailable,” Marlin said of Davis. “I’m going to meet with him (Tuesday) and we’re going to make a decision on what we’re going to do moving forward. “But nothing happened in Virgin Islands, no. He played good. He played really well and had some good games. In limited minutes, he scored some points for us and that’s something he can do.” Although UL outrebounded Nicholls 35-30, it’s been difficult to find much encouragement in the rebounding or defensive areas. “The biggest issue is guarding the ball and rebounding,” Marlin said. “We’ve got to guard the ball. We did better the other day I thought.” Nicholls was only 2-fo-12 shooting from 3-point land in the first half, but drilled bombs eight times in 11 attempts in the second half. “We’ve got to get out on people and still keep them from driving to the paint and scoring,” Marlin added. In Monday’s 98-86 loss to UAB, the Blazers had 20 offensive rebounds. “They were just playing volleyball up there on the glass,” Marlin said. “Eventually, they’re going to get one in. “We’ve got to come together defensively. I think once we start making shots, I think our defense will get better and vice versa.”

Officials are warning San Francisco residents of dangerous flooding as a powerful atmospheric river propelled by a churning bomb cyclone moves through the region. An emergency phone alert went out to residents in San Francisco County, warning the public of life-threatening flash flooding. The warning was issued by the National Weather Service just before 1 p.m. Friday and is in effect until 3:45 p.m. The weather service said heavy rain is causing the flooding, and the region can expect an additional 1 to 3 inches. During the warning, residents should avoid walking or driving through flooded areas and move to higher ground. A portion of northbound Interstate 280 is closed near John Daly Boulevard because of the flooding, the California Highway Patrol said. The weather service also warned drivers to look for pools of standing water or debris on the roadway. "We get it that a lot of folks will choose to go out in these conditions," Brayden Murdock, a meterologist for the NWS told SFGATE. "But remember that doesn't just affect you that affects the people that have to come get you if something happens." Flash Flood Warning for: San Francisco County Until 345 PM PST. It was issued because narrow band of rain moved through the area, increasing rainfall rates, he said. The last flood warning in the county was issued on February 20. "We're still in the atmospheric river and what happened over the last hour or two hours or so, is we actually saw the forward momentum of the system," Murdock said. The flash flood means there is quick, moving water, Murdock said, and warnings like this one can feel like it "comes out of nowhere." "We take in consideration how much rainfall San Francisco can handle when it comes to drainage itself, the rate of the rainfall, coupled with the fact that there's some steep slopes in the city and driving these conditions is very dangerous when you couple all those things together," he said. The California storm brought near-record-breaking rain to the North Bay in recent days and is expected to stay in the Bay Area through the weekend. After the narrow cold front moves out, San Francisco is forecasted to have more off-and-on showers for several hours. "We're still settling in for a good amount of rain through this afternoon, going into the evening, and finally, tonight, we'll watch it drop off," Murdock said.
