($RIVN) surged nearly 14% on Monday, driven by two key developments. Tesla ($TSLA) reached a “conditional” settlement in its lawsuit against Rivian, which had accused the electric vehicle maker of poaching employees and stealing trade secrets. The Elon Musk-owned electric vehicle maker did not disclose specifics of the settlement but expects to seek dismissal of the case by Dec. 24, according to Bloomberg. Secondly, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced plans to propose a new version of the state’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP) if President-elect Donald Trump moves forward with eliminating federal EV tax credits. Newsom’s proposal aims to replace federal incentives with state-level rebates, which could be funded by California’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, according to the statement from the governor’s office. It cited that the original CVRP, phased out in 2023, had funded 594,000 electric vehicles and saved 456 million gallons of fuel. California is touted as a national leader in clean vehicle adoption with over 2 million zero-emission vehicles sold. However, Tesla may face hurdles under the new proposal, as market-share caps in the draft plan could exclude its best-selling models, the governor’s office told Bloomberg. Despite Tesla's stock hitting a two-year high earlier in the day after UBS raised its price target to $226 from $197 while maintaining a ‘Sell’ rating, shares dipped over 1% by midday. Retail sentiment around the stock was in the ‘bullish’ territory (65/100) with users suggesting the downtick is temporary. Meanwhile, Newsom’s proposal not only lifted Rivian’s stock, but also boosted shares of other EV makers, including Lucid ($LCID), which rose 5%, and VinFast Auto Ltd. ($VFS), which gained 1%. Retail sentiment around Rivian turned ‘bullish’ (69/100) from ‘neutral’ a day ago but users are divided over what’s driving its most recent stock surge. However, users on Stocktwits are divided over the stock's recent rally, with many attributing the surge not to tax credits or Tesla’s lawsuit settlement but to optimism surrounding Rivian’s anticipated fourth-quarter earnings in February. Rivian’s stock has lost 46% of its value this year, while Tesla has gained 40% year to date. Tonight, Dean McCullough had the prospect of a sixth trial of the series so far, much to a few people's annoyance, but it was Jane Moore who got people talking. Last night, Barry and Danny decided on the new chores each campmate would be doing from now on, Loose Women's Jane Moore accused Barry of being "sexist" and "ageist". Barry explained: "We were looking at you for possible water duty and I thought 'well, you're 62 years old, you're a year younger than me'." As Jane shook her head, she exclaimed: "Ageist and sexist!" Tonight, Jane Moore was slammed on social media. On X, one fan posted: "Jane comes across a bit of a martyr. She isn't the only one on dishes duty. Why is she acting like it is her sole responsibility #imaceleb". Another simply said: "We need to vote for Jane to do a trial next". Someone else commented: "GK said it, vote Jane (more important because she had a strop at Danny and Barry and ruined their night!)". Last night on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here On Sunday (24 November), Coleen Rooney and Dean McCullough faced a gruesome Bushtucker Trial, winning nine stars for the camp. However, McCullough was again voted to face Monday’s trial “Jack the Screamstalk,” much to the frustrations of Ant and Dec (and the public). Elsewhere, Jane Moore and Barry McGuigan argued over chores. McGuigan and Danny Jones were voted by the public to become the new camp leaders. The pair set about upsetting the jungle apple cart by selecting Moore and Tulisa to wash up, and Coleen Rooney and Maura Higgins to act out the duties of camp maintenance. Despite Jones’s initial worry that women were being asked to do less physical tasks and that it could be taken negatively, McGuigan brushed it off. Moore accused McGuigan of “misogyny” and later “ageism” when he used her age as a justification for his and Jones’s decisions.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police brass is facing intense scrutiny over its inability to curb rising crimes in the city. The latest incident, which happened hours after Union home minister Amit Shah pulled up the police commissioner and his deputies and asked them to crack down on criminals, raises disturbing questions about the crumbling law and order in Delhi . With constable Kiranpal's tragic death, the force has lost two cops in a span of two months, indicating how fear of law has waned amongst criminals and gangsters. "The sheer audacity of the criminals these days is shocking to say the least. There is complete lawlessness and Delhi can't afford to have such a law and order situation," said a retired police commissioner. Attack on cops is not the only problem. Just last month, a woman researcher was abducted right in ITO, gangraped there by three within 50 metres of a Delhi Metro station and then dumped elsewhere. In the past, heads would have rolled if an incident of this scale happened. The sense of security that cops are supposed to provide seems missing, retired cops agreed. Organised as well as street crimes have spun out of control and the corruption in the force has skyrocketed with CBI raids on police personnel becoming routine. "The business community has been living in fear as henchmen of gangsters based abroad have become trigger-happy like never before and shoot at will. An unprecedented situation seems to be unfolding where the city's streets have turned into a playground for men with weapons. Many victims have applied for security or personal security officers, but our resources are limited," said a joint commissioner of police. Organised gangs have been making extortion calls like never before. A few months ago, henchmen of gangster Himanshu Bhau fired over 40 rounds at the office of a builder in Dwarka. The shooting was preceded and followed by a number of shootings at the city's businessmen, builders, liquor sellers and others. Last month, two men opened fire at a property dealer's office in Dwarka and left an extortion slip demanding Rs 10 lakh. A week before this incident, seven people were injured after two men rained bullets at a car showroom in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar. Every month, 2-3 incidents of this nature are taking place in which a gangster from abroad demands "protection money" and his henchmen then fire shots at his premises to underline the threat. The shooters are then dramatically "arrested" in 2-3 days and the case is then shown as "solved". The condition of specialised police units is particularly worrying. Of late, they have been marred with internal politics and functioning inconsistently as the gangsters have taken the front seat. Retired police officers felt that the rise in these incidents showed that the cops were unable to implement even traditional measures like street surveillance, area domination, night patrolling and beat policing. Former top cops agree that an intimidate course correction was the need of the hour and that Delhi Police needed a complete overhaul in its top echelons to make the city safer.
