The United States Postal Service might have found a way to unite a nation bitterly divided after this month's election: It will release a Betty White stamp. The beloved actor known for roles in "The Golden Girls," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Boston Legal" and others will be on a 2025 Forever stamp, USPS announced this past week. White died in late December 2021 , less than three weeks before her 100th birthday. The Postal Service hasn't announced a release date for the stamp. Betty White speaks Sept. 17, 2018, at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. “An icon of American television, Betty White (1922–2021) shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades,” the Postal Service said in announcing the stamp, which depicts a smiling White based on a 2010 photograph by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston . “The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals.” Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos created the digital illustration from Alston's photo. "I'd love to send a letter back to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him that everything is going to be OK," Stephanos posted on Facebook . Regardless of personal politics, self-proclaimed supporters of Republican President-elect Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris reacted with delight on social media. "Betty White was my hero, all of my life! I actually had a doll when I was a little girl I named Betty White," one Trump supporter posted on X , formerly Twitter. “Something to make this awful week a little better: We’re getting a Betty White stamp,” a pro-Harris X account posted. White combined a wholesome image with a flare for bawdy jokes . Her television career began in the early 1950s and exploded as she aged. “The only SNL host I ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party," Seth Meyers posted on Twitter after her death. "A party at which she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed til the bitter end.” Allen Ludden and his wife Betty White, who love to play games, continue a two year gin rummy battle in which she's ahead by a cumulative 6,000 points in Westchester, N.Y. on April 29, 1965. NoneDaily Post Nigeria Vivajets sponsors Africa Financial Summit 2024, underscores private aviation’s role in business connectivity Home News Politics Metro Entertainment Sport Sponsored Vivajets sponsors Africa Financial Summit 2024, underscores private aviation’s role in business connectivity Published on December 7, 2024 By Daily Post Staff Business Aviation firm, Vivajets has announced its sponsorship of the Africa Financial Summit (AFIS) 2024, scheduled to take place from December 9 to 10 in Casablanca, Morocco. The summit brings together policymakers, regulators, and financial industry leaders to explore strategies for building an efficient, inclusive, and sustainable financial sector in Africa. With its sponsorship, Vivajets aims to underscores the transformative power of business aviation in fostering connectivity, driving innovation, and overcoming barriers to collaboration across Africa. “Business aviation is not just a service; it’s a critical enabler for progress. It connects leaders, ideas, and opportunities, helping to shape a brighter future for Africa,” said Chukwuerika Achum, CEO of Vivajets. Vivajets has seen rapid growth and is expanding its global footprint, building a reputation for luxury, exclusivity, and excellence in private aviation. Services range from aircraft charter and management to fractional ownership opportunities and aircraft sales, underpinned by its innovative platforms, Charterxe and FlyPJX. Showcasing African Heritage and Luxury in Aviation At AFIS 2024, Vivajets will exhibit its innovative offerings and engage in networking to connect with key stakeholders. This follows recent milestones, including its prominent role at the Lagos Fashion Week 2024, where the company showcased its newly designed cabin crew uniforms. Created by Ivorian designer Loza Maléombho, known for her work in Beyoncé’s Black is King, the collection celebrates African heritage through contemporary fashion. “Inspired by the African Kinkeliba tree, the uniforms reflect a seamless blend of elegance, luxury, and cultural pride,” said Maléombho. Speaking on this collaboration, Achum remarked, “Our partnership with Loza Maléombho aligns with our values of creativity and sophistication. Through initiatives like these, we’re redefining the image of African aviation on the global stage.” Driving African Integration through Aviation At the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda earlier this year, Achum emphasized the role of business aviation in promoting regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). “Aviation bypasses the geographical and logistical barriers that have hindered Africa’s development, enabling hassle-free collaboration for leaders and businesses across the continent,” he stated. Echoing this sentiment, Tejumade Salami, COO of Vivajets, added, “We are democratising private aviation, ensuring more leaders and organisations can harness its benefits to drive growth and transformation in Africa.” Vivajets at AFIS 2024: A Vision for Africa’s Future By supporting AFIS, Vivajets reinforces its mission to contribute to Africa’s development. The summit, founded by Jeune Afrique Media Group and the Africa CEO Forum, focuses on fostering dialogue to transform Africa’s financial sector and support sustainable growth. “Vivajets believes in the power of connectivity, not just in aviation but also in ideas and innovation,” Salami noted. “We’re excited to collaborate with financial leaders at AFIS to explore how we can collectively unlock Africa’s potential.” As Africa’s financial industry goes through transformation, Vivajets continues to position itself as a trusted partner for leaders and organizations seeking to understand the continent’s evolving industry. Vivajets, a brand under Falcon Aerospace Limited, provides premier aviation services with a focus on innovation and inclusivity. Through its platforms, Charterxe and FlyPJX, the company is making private aviation more accessible while maintaining its commitment to luxury and excellence. Stock market today: Wall Street edges back from its records as bitcoin briefly pops above $100,000Baker Mayfield has put together a strong sophomore season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after breaking onto the scene last year with a Pro Bowl season. Why's Baker - and the Buccaneers under his leadership - been so successful in Tampa? A five-second span during the Bucs' 30-7 win over the New York Giants was a microcosm of that reason. With the Bucs leading 30-7 in the fourth quarter and the game obviously well out of hand, Mayfield handed off to Bucky Irving, who broke free and took off in a footrace towards the end zone. Out of nowhere, Mayfield comes flying onto the screen and throws a lead block about 40 yards from the line of scrimmage. Watch Baker on the lead block How can you not love Baker Mayfield?! : #TBvsNYG on CBS/Paramount+ : https://t.co/waVpO8ZBqG pic.twitter.com/wuCgzLl5kn . @BakerMayfield as the lead blocker for @BuckyIrving : #TBvsNYG on CBS pic.twitter.com/xiglUhxeFV Mayfield's block downfield wasn't ceremonial either. He managed to dislodge a Giants defender from Irving's back and get his running back another 15 yards or so down the field. That's exactly why Mayfield has been so successful and so well liked in Tampa. His effort. His passion. His intensity. There's no doubt that the locker room is bought in on #6 as the unquestioned leader on the roster. Mayfield has also been smart about using his legs and athleticism as a tool in his bag this season, particularly on Sunday. He took off several times on the run to help move the sticks with his legs. He also completed 24/30 attempts passing for 294 yards on the day. Now, at 5-6 and just a game behind the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the NFC South, the Bucs are trending the right way coming out of the bye with the second-lowest winning percentage in the league for their remaining opponents coming into Sunday. And if today's showing was any indication, the Bucs are going to go down swinging - one way or another - with #6 leading the charge as they try to claim their fourth straight division crown and fifth playoff spot in a row. Sebastian Gorka worked in Trump’s first administration as an advisor on counterterrorism. has touted Gorka, born in the UK to Hungarian parents, as “a legal immigrant to the United States, with more than 30 years of National Security experience.” Gorka is known as a pro-war hawk. What has he said about the ? “When the West is weak and there isn't robust leadership from the White House for example, then bad guys do this kind of thing. They make hay when the sun shines,” Gorka said when the Ukraine conflict . He added: “We need to bolster NATO nations, we need to arm Ukraine [...] to give them as much lethal force that they need to fight for themselves, and make sure that Russia understands that there is a tripwire, and that tripwire is any NATO nation.” “Sending unaccountable pallets of cash to any country is dumb. I don’t care whether it’s Afghanistan, the Ukraine, or whether it’s Iraq. A, it’s not good geopolitics, and B, it smacks of corruption,” Gorka . He speculated that the US must bear part of the moral burden for developments in Ukraine, noting that “We, the Americans, convinced post-communist Ukraine to give up all its nuclear weapons. To give them to who? To Moscow.” 14 November, 13:57 GMT "If you think Ukraine doesn't matter, I've got a wake-up call for you, they're coming after the rest of the former Soviet Union, and we will not be able to say ‘Sorry, that doesn't matter to us,’" Gorka said in February 2023. He emphasized that sending blank unaccountable checks to Kiev is insanity. “[Ukraine needs] ammunition, artillery shells, the US intelligence target packet [...] to make the Russians bleed.” Donald Trump will bring Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky to the negotiating table, earlier in November. “He will tell Zelensky that certain things have to be sacrificed, getting Crimea back is probably off the table right now, and he is going to tell Putin ‘Look, if you think that the last few years were bad, the aid given to Kiev will look like a picnic if you don’t stop the fighting,’” Gorka said. 04:52 GMTPNC Financial Services Group Inc. AMHERST – The UMass men’s soccer team took care of business during its NCAA tournament first-round game against Evansville on Thursday. The Minutemen notched a 2-1 victory on a rain-soaked Rudd Field. Alec Hughes and Andrew Ortiz netted goals for UMass (11-3-5) while goalkeeper Alex Geczy turned aside two of the Aces’ three shots on goal. The Minutemen led 2-0 with about 30 minutes left to play, but Evansville cut their lead in half with a strike at 70:52. UMass fought off the Aces’ late attack, which included a corner-kick with a minute to go, to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The club will travel to play at No. 6 Penn on Sunday at 5 p.m. for a spot in the Sweet 16. “I'm happy and relieved,” Minutemen head coach Fran O’Leary said. “We played a very good team, a really well-coached team. All credit to Evansville. We followed them, they came back against really good teams and we talked about it at halftime that they're a resilient, well-coached group and they were going to come back at us.” Evansville won the Missouri Valley Conference title to reach the NCAA Tournament. The Aces beat Bowling Green, 3-2 in overtime in the MVC championship. The Minutemen scored first in Thursday’s game on a perfectly-placed shot from Hughes on a free kick at 20:17. Oliver Akintade drew the chance on an aggressive rush to the Evansville net, but was taken down just outside the box on the left side, about 10 yards from the end line. Article continues after... Cross|Word Flipart Typeshift SpellTower Really Bad Chess Hughes proceeded to bend the ball into the top right corner on a rocket shot Aces goalie Michal Mroz had no chance on. Hughes’ tally counted as the graduate student’s 15th of the season. “Alec will always score goals, but what impressed me today was his attitude from the beginning,” O’Leary said. “His work ethic, his mentality was superb. You could see he wanted to carry the team today and that's an attitude we'll need to take into the next game. Alec will always score goals, but today the level of physicality and commitment he played with was second to none.” The Minutemen poured the pressure on the rest of the half and could have added a couple more goals if not for Mroz’s stellar play (nine total saves) in the Aces net. The hosts finished the 45-minute frame with a 11-3 edge in shots. Evansville came out desperate in the second half, yet it was UMass that scored the eventual game-winner on Ortiz’s fifth tally of the season at 59:19. Akintade was involved once again, this time setting up Ortiz with a cross pass after maneuvering around a handful of Aces defenders. "He's a very good player. He's a very, very good player,” O’Leary said of Akintade. “We were fortunate to get him from a Division 3 program, there's a lot of very good players playing Division 3 college soccer. He was superb today. He won the free-kick for the first goal and then he obviously got an assist on the second so big contributions from him today.” Akintade starred for Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich. for four years before transferring to UMass this fall. With time ticking away in their season, the Aces controlled the play the remainder of the game, which translated into Samuel Awusu’s goal to make it 2-1. Awusu’s shot changed direction off a Minuteman defender and spun sideways off the far-post and into the net. Evansville followed with five of the contest’s final eight shots, but couldn’t convert as UMass picked up its first win in the NCAA tournament since 2007. “[Hughes’] goal was a terrific individual effort and [Akintade] carved through them and Ortiz made a late run for a cutback and two terrific goals,” O’Leary said. “We held on at the end and credit to them, they kept coming at us. The teams in the NCAA [tourney] are good teams and they proved it today, but I'd like to think that we proved we're a good team too."Cincinnati (4-8) at Dallas (5-7) Monday, 8:15 p.m. EST, ESPN BetMGM NFL Odds: Bengals by 5 1/2. Joe Burrow is one of five QBs in NFL history with at least 30 touchdown passes and no more than five interceptions through 12 games. Aaron Rodgers has done it three times, with one each for Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees and Tom Brady. The worst record among the six previous instances was 9-3, while Burrow sits at a hard-to-imagine 4-8. Two of those teams started 12-0: Green Bay with Rodgers in 2011 and Tom Brady with New England in 2007. Burrow leads the NFL in passing yards (3,337), completions (302) and touchdowns (30) entering Week 14. LB DeMarvion Overshown had a coming-out moment with his spectacular 23-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Giants. The second-year player, who missed his rookie season with a knee injury, tipped a pass from Drew Lock, ran down the deflection and scored untouched to put Dallas ahead for good. There's talk of him forming quite a tandem with two-time All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons. It's a little early for that, but the “Monday Night Football” audience will be looking for an encore. WR Ja'Marr Chase vs. the Dallas secondary. The question is whether 2021 All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs will be among the defenders battling his former Southeastern Conference rival (Chase played for LSU; Diggs for Alabama). Diggs has missed two games with groin and knee issues. There was some trash talk involved in Dallas' 20-17 win two years ago when the Bengals were defending AFC champs. Chase finished with 54 yards as Cincinnati was held to 254 yards and one touchdown. If Diggs can't go, 2023 All-Pro DaRon Bland figures to see plenty of Chase. Bland is set for his third game after missing the first 10 following surgery for a stress fracture in his foot. Chase leads the league in receiving yards (1,142) and touchdowns (13) entering Week 14. Rookie LT Tyler Guyton has been battling a shoulder injury and added an ankle sprain last week. He's likely to sit this week in favor of veteran Chuma Edoga, who made his season debut against the Giants after injuring a toe in training camp. The Cowboys have beaten the Bengals five times in a row and are 7-1 at home against them. The loss was at old Texas Stadium in 1988. The most recent victory for Cincinnati was 26-3 in 2004. The Bengals are on their second three-game losing streak of the season and still looking for their first victory over a team with a winning record. The Cowboys have won two in a row coming off a five-game losing streak and just ended a six-game skid at home. ... Burrow is one of six QBs with at least three consecutive games of 300-plus yards passing and at least three TDs. Steve Young set the record with five for San Francisco in 1998.
