Meta Purges Over 2M Accounts Tied to 'Pig-Butchering Scams' Found in Its Social Media
WASHINGTON: US President-elect Donald Trump is set to be named Time magazine's "Person of the Year" on Thursday, coinciding with his scheduled appearance to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, according to sources familiar with the developments. A spokesperson for Time declined to comment on the selection. The Republican president-elect built his fortune as a New York real estate investor before turning to politics. During his first term as president, he measured his success in part by the strength of the stock market, which has so far welcomed his re-election. The ringing of the bell signifies the start or closing of the trading day at the world’s largest stock exchange, and is considered an honour. The act has historically been reserved for company executives celebrating an initial public offering or other major corporate milestones, but celebrities and politicians like Ronald Reagan, Nelson Mandela and Arnold Schwarzenegger have also rung it. Politico first reported the news of Trump's selection and plans. Time bestowed the "Person of the Year" title to Trump once before, in 2016. It named Democratic President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris "Person of the Year" in 2020, after they defeated Trump. Pop star Taylor Swift received the title last year.Donald Trump To Be Named TIME Person Of The Year, Beating Out Harris, Musk, Middleton, Netanyahu: ReportNEW YORK , Dec. 4, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovative technology and media company zuMedia Inc. announced today the launch of the official fatSu website at www.fatSu.com . fatSu is the purple TikTok sensation who has danced her way into the hearts of millions throughout the world, spreading her message of joy through acceptance. The Golden State Warriors are spiraling, having lost five games in a row. Only a short time ago they were the very best team in the Western Conference, and now they sit 12-8 and in the Play-In Tournament picture for the second straight season. To kick off the season, Steve Kerr used a 12 or 13-man rotation, and the Warriors’ depth looked like the best weapon in the NBA, but the recent slump has players questioning that, including Stephen Curry. Curry aired his frustrations after a recent loss to the Phoenix Suns, saying that his teammates are all professionals and can be counted on to play a lesser role if needed. “Coach’s job is to make those tough decisions," Curry said on Sunday, as transcribed by Athlon’s Lance Roberson. "It’s our job to help him. If you’re not playing, don’t pout; don’t bring the locker room down. It doesn’t help anybody. Including yourself." In an effort to bring in more star power and have big-name players to rely on, the Warriors are expected to trade away some of their depth for an All-Star. However, if they chose to save on draft picks, they could instead flip expiring contracts to a rebuilding team, giving up flexibility in exchange for a win-now player. “The Warriors are expected to be active as buyers on the trade market utilizing $30+ million in expiring contracts,” wrote Forbes’ Evan Sidery on Twitter. “Many are wondering whether Golden State will put Jonathan Kuminga on the table in a potential deal for an All-Star level player after unsuccessful extension talks.” With Kuminga’s unrestricted free agency signing rights as trade bait, the Warriors could send him, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II to the Utah Jazz for John Collins. Collins is owed $26.5 million over each of the next two seasons, whereas the three outgoing players will all be free agents this summer. In an ideal world for the Jazz, they would take on picks in exchange for Collins, who is averaging 17.8 points on 40% shooting from deep this season to go with 8.7 rebounds. However, Kuminga is a promising young player that Utah can build around, and the mock trade would give them a ton of financial flexibility in the upcoming free agency. The Warriors lack size, and adding the 6-9 Collins while retaining Kevon Looney and all of their draft picks would be a massive win for the Warriors, giving Curry a viable second option in the frontcourt. Bland ISD names basketball tournament for Bryan ClarkTechnology group Wärtsilä’s focus on supporting the marine industry’s efforts to decarbonise operations continues to drive concrete steps forward. The latest order is to supply a complete propulsion package for a 38,000 DWT methanol-ready cement carrier vessel. When built, this will be the world’s largest vessel of its type, and the first with a methanol-ready notation. The order has been placed by NovaAlgoma, a joint venture between the Italian Swiss-based, Nova Marine Group and the Canadian Algoma Central Corporation. The ship is being built at the Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd, and is expected to be launched in late 2026. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in Q4 2024. “This highly valuable new entry demonstrates the Group’s fleet development strategy and aims to address the significant increase in cement demand,” says Vincenzo Romeo, CEO of Nova Marine Group. “This will be the largest and most eco-friendly cement carrier ever built and is a tangible sign of our strong efforts towards a green fleet. Having Wärtsilä as the technology and solution provider supports our fleet’s effective transition towards decarbonisation.” The Wärtsilä scope of supply includes two Wärtsilä 32 engines, one Wärtsilä 25 auxiliary engine, two gearboxes, two controllable pitch propellers, one tunnel thruster, three selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust after-treatment systems, the propulsion control system, two shaft generators (PTO/PTI) and engine accessory items. The equipment is scheduled for delivery commencing in November 2025. Wärtsilä will supply a complete propulsion package for a 38,000 DWT methanol-ready cement carrier vessel owned by NovaAlgoma © Wärtsilä Corporation “Nova and Wärtsilä share a joint commitment to decarbonise shipping operations within the maritime industry,” comments Roger Holm, President of Wärtsilä Marine & Executive Vice President at Wärtsilä Corporation. “With this integrated package we are taking a holistic approach to the operation of this innovative vessel. This will allow us to support Nova with its sustainability goals around minimising emissions and ensuring the most efficient energy utilisation during operations.” The Wärtsilä 32 engine is the result of the company’s long-established expertise. It is designed for efficient and easy maintenance in combination with long maintenance-free operating periods. It’s excellent fuel flexibility means it can easily be upgraded to operate with methanol. The Wärtsilä 25 engine’s modularity then offers maximised flexibility, while the engine’s efficiency and fuel economy deliver minimised emissions. In addition, Wärtsilä’s propulsion solutions deliver high efficiency, helping vessels to achieve their compliance targets. This is achieved in combination with a gearbox that reduces propeller speed meaning that a larger propeller diameter is utilised to maximise propulsive efficiency. Source: Wärtsilä
