Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin took to the podium Tuesday to answer questions from local media and ended up defending his team from some criticisms. Although the loss to the Cleveland Browns came last Thursday, some reporters had more questions about George Pickens’ play, and his antics. The wide receiver and Browns cornerback Greg Newsome came into conflict both during and after the Hail Mary on the final play of the game when Pickens tossed Newsome by his facemask towards the stands. In the process, Pickens was taken out of the play. Tomlin avoided directly answering questions about the scuffle, sticking to football by reiterating that Pickens’ job was to high point the ball. When a reporter asked him if Pickens was in position to do his job, Tomlin replied, “I think [Cleveland’s] actions had something to do with him not being in position to do that,” according to Chris Adamski of TribLive.com . That is a reference to the actions of Newsome, who pushed Pickens out the back of the end zone while the ball was in mid-air, a move which Tomlin and Pickens both clearly think should have been pass interference. George Pickens and Greg Newsome on the final play of Steelers vs Browns pic.twitter.com/8N4vvU4wYj It appears the Steelers’ head coach has no problem with, or at least will not speak publicly on, the extracurricular activities of his star wideout this week in the mini-brawl with Newsome against he back wall behind the end zone. Tomlin went on to defend his team again in discussing a controversial third-down play call where Justin Fields came into the game. Fields has been primarily used as a runner lately, but threw a pass on Thursday for the first time since Russell Wilson took over the starting job. On that key third-down failure that prevented Pittsburgh from running out the clock, Fields took a three-step drop and delivered a decent impression of Wilson's now-famous "moonball" in the direction of Pickens, who was one-on-one on the outside. The pass ultimately fell incomplete and drew criticism considering the situation. The Steelers only needed four yards, so a deep ball wasn't an ideal play-call there. Furthermore, not having a superior passer in Wilson throw the ball was more reason to be frustrated over the play. George Pickens almost had a part 2 and look at this dime by Fields pic.twitter.com/YU14mKjSMJ Yet Mike Tomlin does not regret the play call or the personnel grouping. “We felt good about it, to be quite honest with you. It was a weighty moment. It was third-and-medium," Tomlin said, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor . "They had 11 guys within five yards of the line of scrimmage. We had GP matched up on a corner not named Denzel Ward. That feels like more than a 50-50 ball to me, and so we were comfortable with that decision.” Much of the Steelers’ biggest plays this season have come by hitting Pickens deep on go routes, especially with Russell Wilson at quarterback. As a result, teams are double-covering him more than ever. Arthur Smith drew up a play that got GP into the one-on-one situation that an elite jump-ball receiver lives for, and Fields delivered a great throw. The result of the play does not automatically condemn it as being a bad call, or even bad execution necessarily. Still, there are plenty of negatives to take away from a Thursday night upset where the first place Steelers lost to the last place team in the AFC North. Tomlin and Pittsburgh will have to right the ship as they travel to the opposite side of Ohio to play Cincinnati this coming Sunday at 1:00 pm EST. The United States Postal Service might have found a way to unite a nation bitterly divided after this month's election: It will release a Betty White stamp. The beloved actor known for roles in "The Golden Girls," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Boston Legal" and others will be on a 2025 Forever stamp, USPS announced this past week. White died in late December 2021 , less than three weeks before her 100th birthday. The Postal Service hasn't announced a release date for the stamp. Betty White speaks Sept. 17, 2018, at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Phil McCarten, Invision “An icon of American television, Betty White (1922–2021) shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades,” the Postal Service said in announcing the stamp, which depicts a smiling White based on a 2010 photograph by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston . “The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals.” Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos created the digital illustration from Alston's photo. Listen now and subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | RSS Feed | SoundStack "I'd love to send a letter back to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him that everything is going to be OK," Stephanos posted on Facebook . Regardless of personal politics, self-proclaimed supporters of Republican President-elect Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris reacted with delight on social media. "Betty White was my hero, all of my life! I actually had a doll when I was a little girl I named Betty White," one Trump supporter posted on X , formerly Twitter. “Something to make this awful week a little better: We’re getting a Betty White stamp,” a pro-Harris X account posted. White combined a wholesome image with a flare for bawdy jokes . Her television career began in the early 1950s and exploded as she aged. “The only SNL host I ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party," Seth Meyers posted on Twitter after her death. "A party at which she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed til the bitter end.” Allen Ludden and his wife Betty White, who love to play games, continue a two year gin rummy battle in which she's ahead by a cumulative 6,000 points in Westchester, N.Y. on April 29, 1965. UAlbany football stages wild comeback to beat Hampton in season finale
Two Super Bowl finalists squaring off in their annual battle where both teams have storied histories? You bet. Foxboro (8-3) and Mansfield (8-3) collide in Mansfield at 10 a.m. for the 93rd annual meeting between the two foes, with the Warriors holding bragging rights following a 30-17 win last year as they again play for Davenport Division rights in the Hockomock League. Both sides aren’t going to let up and play it safe for the Super Bowl next week, that’s for sure. Foxboro will go with its patented running game on Ben Angelini’s legs, while mixing in Mike Marcucella’s passing ability. The Hornets will do the same with Sean McCoy running the ball and Tommy Vallett passing. Both sides are similar in their offensive styles and their desire to be balanced while being explosive on the ground. Both defenses know exactly what they’re in for when it comes to who is on the other side of the field. Mansfield dominated the run last week, and Foxboro walked it off to earn the Warriors’ Super Bowl bid, so energy and confidence for both is the highest it has been all season. There won’t be many surprises in this good, old-fashioned rivalry with some edge to it. This will be a fun one.Klutz-Proof Kospet Smartwatches Encourage Better Health
Home sellers in a string of popular sea- and tree-change towns are discounting pandemic boom-time price expectations to get a deal done, new data reveals. Buyers can expect to pay about 4 to 6 per cent less than the original listing price as fewer city dwellers move to the regions and homes listed for sale pile up. Byron Bay tops the list in NSW with a median discount of 6.7 per cent in the year to October, according to the latest CoreLogic Regional Market Update. It is followed by Kempsey and Ulladulla, which both had a median discount of 5.8 per cent in the same period. In Victoria, Gisborne had the highest median discount of 5.8 per cent in the same period, followed by Portland, which had a median discount of 5.5 per cent. It comes as most of these areas recorded a notable increase in homes listed for sale and their days on market blowout. CoreLogic Australia economist and report author Kaytlin Ezzy said vendor discounting pointed to a market in favour of buyers. “It means there’s more supply. That means there’s more choice out there for buyers,” Ezzy said. “They don’t have to compete with other buyers for that property, and instead it’s the vendor who is competing for that buyer and therefore has to be willing to negotiate.” She said most of these towns have stronger discounting than during lockdowns due to fewer buyers in regional areas. “Generally not as many people are moving to the regions. So as homes are listed they’re not being as easily absorbed by the market,” Ezzy said. “That means stock has been able to accumulate and puts downward pressure on values and vendors have to compete more and be negotiable. “Byron Bay has about 17 per cent more listings in October than what we usually see this time of year and Gisborne is about 45 per cent above what we usually see.” KPMG regional economist Terry Rawnsley said not only were there fewer buyers, but those remaining had reduced purchasing power, which was putting downward pressure on prices. “Byron Bay is probably a good case study. During COVID lockdowns, people shifted to Byron – they were happy to pay a premium to secure a property,” Rawnsley said. “Then in the last two years, the return to the office and higher interest rates have hampered buyers. It’s reduced the pool of people looking to move to a regional location. Vendors have to offer a bit of a discount to meet the market.” He said many of the Victorian regional towns at lower price points were discounting because they were first home buyers’ markets, feeling the pinch from higher interest rates the most. “[Gisborne’s] probably a dual market. It’s acreage living in that part of the world and there’s also people searching for affordable housing. It’s got both ends of that market feeling the pinch,” Rawnsley said. Ray White Byron Bay’s Damien Smith said sellers in his region had unrealistic boom-time expectations of the lockdown years. “If anyone bought in the past three years, they’re trying to get that ‘let’s get our money back’ price rather than market price,” Smith said. “They’ve all got in their head what they’ve paid for it, and it’s a lot more than what it’s worth.” “There are fewer buyers. If you’re borrowing money, especially entry-level, it’s a lot of money. “The ratio [of capital city and local buyers] is still similar, but the volume is not there. The buyer pool has thinned out. It’s definitely reduced.” Connect Real Estate’s Helen Sankey said it was very much a buyer’s market in the Gisborne area. “We’re the first regional town out of metropolitan Melbourne. So post-COVID obviously that demand backed off, and then it was exacerbated by the increase in interest rates,” Sankey said. “It’s very much a buyer’s market and since April 2022, it’s had a huge adjustment.” Sankey said there were more homes than buyers, which was hurting sellers with strong expectations. “If it’s priced right, the houses will move quickly. If it is deemed high, then it sits on the market – the days on market is extended out,” she said. She said while there was not a lot of distressed selling among owner occupiers, it was investors who were most affected by the weaker conditions in the market. “But investors, with the increase in land tax, are the people who are most distressed. The disparity between rental income and mortgage repayments plus the increased land tax there is no cream off the top left.”Betty White Forever: New stamp will honor the much-beloved 'Golden Girls' actor

Nov. 25—OPINION AND COMMENTARY — Editorials and other Opinion content offer perspectives on issues important to our community and are independent from the work of our newsroom reporters. The Wichita City Council often leaves you shaking your head, but this week, you're lucky if you don't need a neck brace. The council and staff spent four hours Tuesday night pleading poverty as they debated how (not whether) to implement widespread paid parking in now-free lots and streets downtown. Then, a few minutes later, they spent another hour deciding to spend more than half a million dollars on two high tech outhouses for Naftzger and A. Price Woodard parks. And since the meeting, council member Dalton Glasscock, who opposed the potty project, has announced plans to tear a page from Donald Trump's playbook and appoint his own personal DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), which is a spectacularly bad idea for reasons I'll get to in a minute. But first, let's talk downtown parking. City staff wants to charge for it, desperately. So do some downtown development interests, who have their eye on land that's now used for parking lots that they want to buy on the cheap for new projects, which would require their own set of city subsidies including (but not limited to) more city-funded parking garages. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of Wichitans who go downtown are opposed to paying for what they now get for free. They're also not happy with the idea of the city hiring a private company from Idaho to write more tickets. Also unsurprisingly, they've been pushed aside. While the council can't agree on a plan, there's apparently unanimous agreement that we're going through with a massive exercise in extracting money from people with cars. Only the details are to be worked out — to be continued on Dec. 10. If you're angry about this, you have every right to be. Squishy numbers What I'm most angry about is that the numbers used to justify paid parking keep changing. The city's mantra has been for months that the fund for parking operation and maintenance has been losing money since 2018. Then, an annoying local newspaper columnist did some addition and subtraction and pointed out that if you take away the two COVID-19 years of 2020 and 2021, when business shutdowns brought downtown parking virtually to a halt, the city actually made a little money on the parking fund. City staff now says the numbers they've been showing in public meetings for months are wrong and that a $53,000 profit last year was really a loss, because of unspecified bills that were paid late, or something. And then there's the issue of "deferred maintenance" of city-owned garages, some of which serve the general public and others that are technically kind of open, but essentially serve as private parking for nearby businesses, including the Drury Hotel, River Vista Apartments and King of Freight. In September, Assistant City Manager Troy Anderson, City Hall's point man for paid parking, said there's $8.3 million in deferred maintenance needed on the garages. In two months, that figure has blossomed to $18 million. The list of projects needing to be done? There isn't one, although Mayor Lily Wu has requested that one be prepared. I can't wait for that list to come out so I can walk the garages and see what really needs work, what are the "wouldn't it be nice?" items and what's just make-believe. Wu has expressed her displeasure that the council may have to divert other money in its capital improvement plan to backstop deferred maintenance on the garages. I would gently suggest that the city scrap another plan of questionable popularity and utility, the ongoing "road diet." This consists of turning one-way streets downtown back into the two-way streets they originally were, while reducing car lanes and adding bike paths that hardly anyone's going to use. That's about $8 million right there. Toilets of steel Speaking of boondoggles, let's return to the case of the pricey privies. City staff recommended and the council approved the purchase and installation of two "Portland Loo" compact outdoor restrooms at a cost of $531,878. They're made of specially coated stainless steel, so it's relatively easy to remove paint or Sharpie graffiti (or replace a panel if someone scratches graffiti in it). And they have blue LED lighting, which makes it harder for intravenous drug users to find a vein. But the signature feature of the Portland Loo is that it has louvers at ground level so interested bystanders can count the number of feet in the stall, to detect possible conduct of a sexual nature taking place inside. In addition to being expensive to buy and install, most cities that have them report cleaning and repair costs of about $11,000 to $20,000 per unit per year — although Wichita City Hall is saying they know a guy who can do it for $5,000. If it were up to me, I'd just put out a couple of regular porta-potties and see how it goes. Paint the inside with a graffiti-resistant coating to deter vandalism and let some local art students decorate the outside and call it public art. Quite honestly, if someone's desperate enough to shoot up or have sex in an outdoor toilet, I'd categorize that as none of my business, and I really don't even want to know. No to local DOGE Glasscock, once a fairly midstream Republican, is the business guy for national right-wing commentator/radio host/podcaster/influencer Todd Starnes, so he has to ride the Trump train to wherever it may lead. And mimicking Trump's example, Glasscock is proposing to set up a DOGE, a quasi-governmental group to comb through the city's books and tell him where to cut spending and who to fire. While on the surface it sounds like a worthy endeavor, such groups almost always consist of "concerned citizens" who are mainly concerned with how they can make bank off inside information and influencing government decisions. We're already seeing it in Washington's version of DOGE, headed up by billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, with support from Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, America's Worst Congressperson (tm). Since the election, stock in Musk's Tesla car company has gone up from $242.84 a share to $353.92 at this writing. Tesla buyers have been getting $7,500 tax credits to buy Musk's cars for years, but now that his company dominates the electric vehicle market, he wants to eliminate the tax credits to keep the competition from catching up, Autoweek reports. Even the name DOGE was calculated to put more money in Musk's pocket. The acronym's a free plug for Dogecoin cryptocurrency. Musk has said he owns "a bunch" of Dogecoin — and it's doubled in value since Election Day. So I agree with Glasscock that the Toilet of Steel is a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere. But on the upside, a Portland Loo would be the perfect place to stick Glasscock's plan for a DOGE of his own. (c)2024 The Wichita Eagle (Wichita, Kan.) Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a weekend of good DFS fortune! WEEK 13 FANTASY FOOTBALL ROSTER MANAGEMENT ADVICE Stock Watch | Sleepers | Busts | Start 'Em, Sit 'Em | Usage Report Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 13: Quarterback Russell Wilson, Steelers at Bengals (DK: $5,700 | FD: $7,500 | SD: 1.3x) After averaging 19.6 DK points per game in his first three contests with the Steelers, Russ has come back to Earth a bit with just 11.05 PPG in the two games since. This should be a get-right game, however, as long as DangeRuss can stay away from sack-monster Trey Hendrickson. That one name aside, Cincinnati has been awful defensively. Only three teams have surrendered more fantasy points per game to QBs this season (DK and FD), and both Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson went OFF the last time they faced the Bengals (Herbs had 297 and 2 TDs, LJax had 290 and 4 TDs). Fire Russ up, and let's hope for a Pittsburgh-related catchphrase soon! WEEK 13 FANTASY FOOTBALL RANKINGS QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kickers Justin Herbert, Chargers at Falcons (DK: $5,600 | FD: $7,900 | SD: 1.3x) Every Turkey Day weekend needs some Herbs and seasoning, and we're loving the flavor Herbert has provided since the Bolts became relevant again. He's the QB6 since Week 7, averaging over 20 PPG during that span. Now he faces a Falcons D that has allowed the 6th-most QB PPG and just got destroyed by Bo Nix last week. Other QBs whose Week 13 values exceed their price tags: Drake Maye, Patriots vs. Colts (DK: $5,600 | FD: $6,800 | SD: 1.3x) Anthony Richardson, Colts at Patriots (DK: $5,500 | FD: $7,800 | SD: 1.3x) Will Levis, Titans at Commanders (DK: $5,000 | FD: $7,100 | SD: 1.4x) WEEK 13 WAIVER WIRE ADVICE Full waiver wire list | FAAB guide | Top players to target Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 13: Running back Bucky Irving, Buccaneers at Panthers (DK: $5,800 | FD: $ | SD: 1.45x) It's a glorious time of year, and an even more glorious time to be a Bucky Irving fantasy manager or investor. The rookie exploded for 151 all-purpose yards and a TD last week against the Giants, good for 27.1 points. Now he faces the Panthers, an even more abysmal run D that has yielded the most DK and FD points in the NFL to RBs this season. It's time to get Buck-wild. Other strong Week 13 RB values (bold prices indicate volatilty) : Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots vs. Colts (DK: $5,900 | FD: $6,400 | SD: 1.35x) Tony Pollard, Titans at Commanders (DK: $6,300 | FD: $7,000 | SD: 1.3x) Chase Brown, Bengals vs. Steelers (DK: $6,200 | FD: $7,300 | SD: 1.3x) Jeremy McNichols, Commanders vs. Titans (DK: $5,400 | FD: $6,700 | SD: 1.5x) MORE: Learn about the SuperDraft Jackpot | How to play DFS Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 13: Wide receiver Ladd McConkey, Chargers at Falcons (DK: $6,100 | FD: $6,300 | SD: 1.25x) McConkey has been a revelation for the Bolts, who have been otherwise plagued by underwhelming downfield playmakers most weeks. Quentin Johnston had multiple awful drops against the Ravens in the MNF Harbaugh Bowl, while tight end Will Dissly is good but one-dimensional. It's time for the rookie Ladd to heat up the hot sauce and unleash his inner beast in Atlanta. We just saw Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton go HAM on the Dirty Birds — here's hoping Herbs and McConkey are the next QB/WR duo to feast on their below-average defense. Other strong Week 13 DFS values at WR: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks at Jets (DK: $6,300 | FD: $7,700 | SD: 1.25x) Marvin Harrison Jr., Cardinals at Vikings (DK: $6,000 | FD: $6,900 | SD: 1.25x) Tank Dell, Texans at Jaguars (DK: $5,900 | FD: $6,400 | SD: 1.25x) Michael Pittman Jr., Colts at Patriots (DK: $5,200 | FD: $6,600 | SD: 1.35x) Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 13: Tight end Pat Freiermuth, Steelers at Bengals (DK: $3,500 | FD: $5,100 | SD: 1.55x) The 'Muth has been pretty solid over the past month, but he's long overdue for a big "Muth on the loose" game. He has caught 100 percent of his targets since Week 8, and he just logged a 59-yard game against the division-rival Browns. Now he draws the Bengals, who have surrendered the 3rd-most fantasy PPG to tight ends this season. Stuff your lineups with 'Muth this weekend. More Week 13 TEs worth a look : Will Dissly, Chargers at Falcons (DK: $4,000 | FD: $5,200 | SD: 1.45x) Hunter Henry, Patriots vs. Colts (DK: $4,200 | FD: $5,100 | SD: 1.35x) Dallas Goedert, Eagles at Ravens (DK: $4,300 | FD: $6,000 | SD: 1.35x) Best NFL DFS sleepers for Week 13: D/ST Los Angeles Rams at Saints (DK: $2,700 | FD: $5,100) The Broncos should be among the top-3 most expensive D/STs this week, yet they're just the 7th-most expensive. Denver just blasted a good Falcons team by a score of 38-6, racking up 13 DK points via an interception, four sacks, and the six points allowed. Las Vegas has yielded the 2nd-most D/ST points on the season. This is a no-brainer, like honey glaze on your holiday ham. Other decent D/ST plays for Week 13 : New England Patriots vs. Colts (DK: $2,500 | FD: $3,600) New York Jets vs. Seahawks (DK: $2,500 | FD: $3,700) If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation. Learn more >NEW YORK (AP) — In an angry outburst in a New York courtroom, accused a judge Tuesday of making wrong assumptions about him as he tries to comply with an order requiring him to turn over most of his assets to two election poll workers who won a libel case against him. U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman responded by saying he’s not going to let the former New York City mayor and onetime presidential candidate blurt things out anymore in court unless he’s a sworn witness. The interruption to an otherwise routine pretrial hearing in Manhattan came as the judge questioned Giuliani’s lawyer about why Giuliani has not yet provided the title to a car he has relinquished in his effort to satisfy won by two former Georgia election workers. “Your client was the U.S. attorney for this district,” the judge said, referring to Giuliani’s years in the 1980s as the head of the federal prosecutor’s office in the Southern District of New York, as he suggested it was hard to believe that Giuliani was incapable of getting a duplicate title to the car. Related Articles Giuliani learned forward and began speaking into a microphone, telling the judge he had applied for a duplicate copy of the car’s title but that it had not yet arrived. “The implication I’ve been not diligent about it is totally incorrect,” Giuliani said in a scolding tone. “The implication you make is against me and every implication against me is wrong.” Giuliani went on: “I’m not impoverished. Everything I have is tied up. I don’t have a car. I don’t have a credit card. I don’t have cash. I can’t get to bank accounts that truly would be mine because they have put ... stop orders on, for example, my Social Security account, which they have no right to do.” Liman responded by warning defense lawyers that the next time Giuliani interrupts a hearing, “he’s not going to be permitted to speak and the court will take action.” The judge said Giuliani could either choose to represent himself or let lawyers do so, but “you can’t have hybrid representation.” If Giuliani wants to speak in court again, he can be put on the witness stand and be sworn as a witness, Liman added. The exchange came at a hearing in which the judge refused to delay a Jan. 16 trial over the disposition of Giuliani’s Florida residence and World Series rings. Those are two sets of assets that Giuliani is trying to shield from confiscation as part of to turn over many prized possessions to the poll workers. Earlier in the proceeding, defense attorney Joseph M. Cammarata asked Liman to delay the trial, which will be heard without a jury, for a month because of Giuliani’s “involvement” in inauguration planning for President-elect Donald Trump. “My client regularly consults and deals directly with President-elect Trump on issues that are taking place as the incoming administration is afoot as well as (the) inauguration,” Cammarata said. “My client wants to exercise his political right to be there.” The judge turned down the request, saying Giuliani’s “social calendar” was not a reason to postpone the trial. Giuliani, who once served as Trump’s personal attorney, was found liable last year for defaming two Georgia poll workers by falsely accusing them of tampering with ballots during the 2020 presidential election. The women said after Giuliani falsely claimed they sneaked in ballots in suitcases, counted ballots multiple times and tampered with voting machines.

Beijing banned its entertainers from joining Golden Horse -- dubbed the Chinese-language "Oscars" -- in 2019 after a Taiwanese director voiced support for the island's independence in an acceptance speech in 2018. INFORMATION NIGERIA reports that the development is coming, amid serval calls to reduce cost of governance. Some lawmakers from the lower chamber, suggested that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration can limit over funding of the Federal government if expenses are reduced by the Ministers. The legislation Titled: “A Bill for an Act to Amend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Streamline the Number of Ministers to be Appointed to the Federal Executive Council”, has now been presented before the constitution review committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu. Sponsored by the members representing Darazo/Ganjuwa and Kaga/Gubio/Magumeri Federal Constituencies of Bauchi and Borno states respectively, the bill seeks to amend Section 147 (1) of the Constitution to read, “There shall be such offices of Ministers of the Government of the Federation, not exceeding 37, as may be established by the President”. READ MORE: House of Reps Postpones Special Session On Tax Reform Bill Speaking with PUNCH on Sunday, the Bauchi lawmaker, Mansur Soro, highlighted the gap the proposed legislation sought to address. He said: “The bill seeks to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to specify the maximum number of ministers to be appointed to the Federal Executive Council to address duplication of duties, minimise the cost of governance, and enhance efficiency to service at the federal level. “We need to reduce the cost of governance, to address inequality in the number of ministers to be appointed from each state and cases of overlapping mandate of ministers. In my opinion, a minister per state is enough while also considering the Federal Capital Territory.”
