Buffalo (10-2) at Los Angeles Rams (6-6) Sunday, 4:25 p.m. EST, FOX BetMGM NFL odds: Bills by 3 1/2. Against the spread: Bills 8-4; Rams 5-7. Series record: Bills lead 9-5. Last meeting: Bills beat Rams 31-10 in Inglewood, Calif. on Sept. 8, 2022. Last week: Bills beat San Francisco 35-10; Rams beat New Orleans 21-14. Bills offense: overall (10), rush (11), pass (17), scoring (2). Bills defense: overall (11), rush (18), pass (8), scoring (T-6). Rams offense: overall (18), rush (26), pass (11), scoring (20). Rams defense: overall (25), rush (28), pass (15), scoring (21). Turnover differential: Bills plus-17; Rams plus-3. WR Amari Cooper. He has so far played a valuable bit role since being acquired in a trade with Cleveland. He’s scored a TD and made a highlight reel play last weekend by making a one-handed catch and, before getting tackled, lateraled the ball back to Josh Allen to set up the quarterback’s passing and receiving TD. Cooper’s getting healthier after being hampered by a left wrist injury, and is expected to play a larger role in the passing attack down the stretch. LB Omar Speights. Little was expected of Speights as an undrafted free agent out of LSU, but he has quickly established himself as a promising piece of the Rams young defense. Speights had a career-high 10 tackles versus the Saints and was constantly around the ball. Los Angeles will need him to maintain that level of activity against Buffalo’s high-powered offense. Rams offensive line vs. Bills defensive line. Keep QB Matthew Stafford upright, and open up holes for RB Kyren Williams. It’s a pretty simple formula for the Rams, and they executed it well in New Orleans, letting Williams rush for 104 yards while Stafford was only sacked twice. Buffalo has two disruptive ends in Gregory Rousseau (6 1/2 sacks, 15 tackles for loss) and A.J. Epenesa (5 sacks), so keeping them in check will be a challenge. The Bills are also proving to be sturdier in stopping the run in recent weeks, though there was statistical regression last week with San Francisco reduced to keeping the ball on the ground in heavy snowfall. Bills TE Dalton Kincaid resumed practicing, though on a limited basis, after missing two games with a knee injury. He is listed as questionable. ... Rookie WR Keon Coleman (right wrist) is questionable after being limited in practice all week. He sat out the last three games. ... Starting S Taylor Rapp is good to go after landing on the injury report this week with a shoulder/neck injury. ... Rookie DT DeWayne Carter (left wrist) is in position to be activated off IR barring a setback. ... Stafford sprained his ankle against the Saints, but he doesn't expected to be limited by the injury and didn't have a designation on Friday's report. ... Rams LT Alaric Jackson is expected to play through a foot injury. ... OLB Jared Verse should play despite rolling his ankle in practice Thursday. ... TE Tyler Higbee, who sustained a serious knee injury in the NFC wild-card game at Detroit, won’t make his season debut this week despite getting in three full practices. The Bills thumped the Rams at SoFi Stadium in the 2022 season opener, heralding a miserable defense of its Super Bowl title for Los Angeles. ... Buffalo has won three straight in the series, scoring 30 points or more in each of those victories. The Bills have already clinched their fifth straight AFC East title, and look to catch the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1), whom they beat last month, for the conference’s top seed. ... Buffalo is 20-2 in regular-season games played in December and January since 2020. ... The Bills have won seven straight since losing consecutive road games at Baltimore and Houston. They’re one win from matching the franchise’s second-longest streak set first in 1990 and again spanning the 2023-24 seasons. The team record is 11, spanning the 1963-64 seasons. ... Buffalo has at least 10 wins through 12 games for the fifth time in team history and first since 1991. ... Allen has a record of 30-5 when he doesn’t commit a turnover. His two lost fumbles and five interceptions account for all seven of Buffalo’s giveaways this season. And he’s 43-27 overall when committing a turnover. ... With 107 yards rushing, including a career-high 65-yard TD run last weekend, RB James Cook topped 100 yards for the fifth time in his career. Cook has four TDs in his past three games and 12 overall (including one receiving) this season. His 11 TDs rushing are the most by a Bills player since LeSean McCoy had 13 in 2016. ... Edge rusher Von Miller’s 127 1/2 sacks lead active players and rank 17th overall, a half-sack behind Rickey Jackson. ... Buffalo has forced at least one takeaway in each game this season, including three forced fumbles against the 49ers. ... The Rams haven’t forced a turnover in their past two games. They had seven takeaways in the three games prior to this stretch. ... Williams earned his second 100-yard game of the season against the Saints. The 6.9 yards per carry average was Williams’ best of the season. ... Since getting ejected in the first half in Seattle, WR Puka Nacua has 30 receptions for 394 yards and two touchdowns over the past four games. He had five catches for 56 yards and a score versus the Saints, his seventh game with at least 50 yards and a touchdown. ... Stafford threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns in the Superdome, the second time in the past seven games the Rams won with Stafford not passing for 200 yards. They did that just twice in Stafford’s first 46 games with the team. ... CB Cobie Durant had two tackles for loss against New Orleans, the first time in his three-year career having multiple negative stops without a sack. ... After starting 16 for 19 on field goals, rookie PK Joshua Karty has missed his past two attempts. He did not attempt a field goal against the Saints, with coach Sean McVay choosing to go for it on fourth-and-4 from the New Orleans 25-yard line in the second quarter. Williams has put together consecutive solid outings, with at least 70 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles and Saints. The one part of his game that still hasn’t resurfaced is as a passing game option, where Williams has one grab for 9 yards over the past three games. Williams is too useful as a receiver to not get him involved there, so expect McVay to dial up some calls, to the benefit of those in point-per-reception formats. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

Damien Lillard had 15 points and 11 assists and Bobby Portis added 23 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Bucks won for the 10th time in 13 games. Dennis Schroder had 34 points and 10 assists, Cam Johnson scored 26 points and Nic Claxton added 21 points and nine rebounds as the Nets lost for the fourth time in five games, falling to 4-13 against Eastern Conference foes. Milwaukee: Lillard’s streak of six straight 25-point games ended. Antetokounmpo had his NBA-best 14th game with at least 30 points. Brooklyn: Schroder led Brooklyn in scoring for the fourth time this season, surpassing 30 points for the third time. He is averaging 31.5 points in two games against Milwaukee this season and has 493 points in 31 career games against the Bucks. Brooklyn led 108-104 after Schroder's jumper with 3:08 left, but Milwaukee countered by scoring 15 of the game’s final 20 points. Bucks forward Khris Middleton, playing in just his third game this season while recovering from bilateral ankle surgery, scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Portis put Milwaukee ahead for good, 109-108, with a 3-pointer with 2:08 left. Brooklyn snapped Milwaukee’s 15-game streak of holding opponents to below 50% shooting. The Nets were just the fourth team to make more than 50% of its field goals against the Bucks. Milwaukee improved to 1-3 in games in which it allows a team to shoot better than 50%. After making just 8 of 22 field goals (36.4%) in the first quarter, the Nets shot 56% over the final 36 minutes. Milwaukee hosts Orlando in an NBA Cup quarterfinal Tuesday. After months of speculation and guessing, we now know the official Team Canada roster for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. The tournament, which will take place in February, is the first best-on-best international tournament featuring NHL players since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and will feature teams from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden. It is a nice preview for the NHL's return to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Canadian roster (shown above) has a lot of the expected names, but also a few surprises. Now that we know the roster, who is on and who is off, it is time to talk about some of the winners and losers. This seems like a big deal. Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were the two most hyped players to enter the NHL in decades, and both have not only matched the expectations, they have exceeded them. Crosby's career is one of the best in NHL history as he continues to climb the all-time scoring leaderboards and has three Stanley Cups, Olympic Gold and multiple individual awards on his resume. McDavid has not quite had the team success, but he has been the most dominant offensive player in the NHL since entering the league and (as of Wednesday) has 140 more points than any other player in the league since his debut in the 2015-16 season. They have been two of the most dominant players of this era and are both on their way to becoming all-time greats. Now they get to play on the same team, and perhaps even on the same power-play unit. It will be a sight to see. Objectively speaking, Bedard probably did not deserve a spot on this team. At least not yet. He is still only 19 years old and his season so far has not been dominant with five goals and 19 total points in 25 games. From a big-picture standpoint, that is fine. We sometimes set expectations that are too high for players like him when they enter the NHL and forget that development and progression are not the same for everybody. It took Nathan MacKinnon a few years before he became a megastar. Not everyone steps right in like Crosby or McDavid and instantly starts scoring 100 points. Still, Bedard is an immense talent and figures to be a staple on Canadian rosters well into the future. This might have been a good time to get him some top-level international experience in a tournament that is not quite as high stakes as, say, the Olympics. It would have also been exciting to see Crosby, McDavid and Bedard on the same team and represent three different age levels of NHL stars. If Bedard develops as everybody expects and hopes over the next year and a half, he should be an Olympic participant. If he is not, that would be a problem—either for his development or Hockey Canada's decision-making. When piecing together what are basically All-Star teams there can sometimes be concerns with how players will actually play alongside each other. In Canada's case, it was actually able to piece together several sets of teammates, including two potential defensive pairings. Cale Makar and Devon Toews have been one of the league's best defense pairings the past few years in Colorado, and they figure to be locks to play together in this tournament. At least they should be. They also have the potential to keep Vegas teammates Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore together (though they have not played as much together as teammates). At forward, they also have three Tampa Bay Lightning players, including the potential for a great depth line with Anthony Cirelli and Brandon Hagel. Keeping teammates together should not be the top priority when putting together a roster like this, but when the opportunity presents itself it can be an enormous advantage. The forward and defense groups for Canada are as good and deep as any other groups in this tournament. They could probably piece together two teams that could compete for a championship at those positions. The Achilles heel of this team is clearly in net with the trio of Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Sam Montembault. It is just...not impressive. It is also worth wondering if they are even taking the best goalies when somebody like Logan Thompson was also sitting out there as a possibility. Goaltending is the one position that can make or break a team, and of the four teams in this tournament, Canada might be in the fourth spot when it comes to the position. It is a concern. It could be a problem. We already talked about the potential benefit of having teammates together, and the Tampa Bay Lightning have quite a few connections here. They have head coach Jon Cooper behind the bench, and he has three of his players—Brayden Point, Brandon Hagel and Anthony Cirelli—on his roster. Point was one of the six players chosen for the roster ahead of time, so we knew he was going to be on the team, while Hagel and Cirelli have the potential to form an outstanding depth line. Sometimes international teams can overthink the roster-building process when it comes to these tournaments. You do not need a checking line. It is okay to just load up on stars when you do not have salary-cap constraints to worry about. Maybe keeping Hagel and Cirelli together is an example of overthinking it. On the other hand, they are really good and productive individually, and really good together as a group. Over the past three seasons, Hagel and Cirelli have spent 1,114 minutes together during 5-on-5 play and outscored teams by a 65-52 margin with a 55.8 percent expected goals share. That is a great duo. It should work against any competition. Nashville's Steven Stamkos and Washington's Tom Wilson seem like two of the more notable omissions from the roster. In both cases it is completely understandable, but also a little surprising. In regards to Stamkos, no, he is not the player he used to be at his peak. But he is still Steven Stamkos and can still stand in the face-off circle and unload one-timers at the net on the power play. He also would have added to the Tampa Bay connection (even though he does not actually play for Tampa Bay at this point). Given his track record, success and star power, he seemed to be a good bet to be on the roster even if his play has declined. Wilson might not be your prototypical international tournament player, but he was talked about a lot as a potential player on this roster in the lead-up to the roster selection and is having a strong year offensively with 19 points in his first 25 games (as of Tuesday). If we are being objective, Canada probably did not make a glaring mistake leaving either player off the roster. It just seemed like both might have had an opportunity to make it and may have expected it.USDA Orders Testing of Milk Supply for Presence of Bird Flu VirusNone
LOS ANGELES — UCLA football underclassmen carried their seniors off the field after Thursday’s practice as part of Bruin tradition, hoisting them above their shoulders in honor of the work they’ve done in their time with the team. Two days later, 42 players walked in the Senior Day celebration prior to the Bruins’ season finale against Fresno State at the Rose Bowl. Redshirt junior Carson Schwesinger took part in the celebration, indicating the possibility that the Butkus Award-nominated linebacker may not stay for another next season. Schwesinger and head coach DeShaun Foster said the FBS’ leading tackler has not made a decision as to whether he will go to the NFL. “He’s really going to do whatever is best for him in that situation,” Foster told reporters Wednesday. “I completely understand, especially if he gets the Butkus Award, and the way that he came out and performed this season. He deserves to get a shot and go to the NFL.” Receiver J.Michael Sturdivant also walked for Senior Day. Sturdivant, a redshirt junior, was UCLA’s third-leading receiver heading into Saturday’s game with 311 total yards and one touchdown. He averaged 31.1 yards per game. Sturdivant’s ability to stretch the field was underutilized in his two seasons at UCLA after he previously played two seasons at Cal. Offensive lineman Josh Carlin, edge rusher Oluwafemi Oladejo and defensive lineman Jay Toia each walked with the seniors Saturday and are expected to make a push for the NFL. “Incredibly grateful for the Bruin program, the UCLA program,” Oladejo told reporters Tuesday. “Came in here at the age of 19 and I’m now 21, so I’ve grown here a lot. Grown as a man, matured. Not just on the field but off the field as well. This means a lot to me.” Other notable players who took part in Senior Day: offensive lineman Garret DiGiorgio, quarterbacks Ethan Garbers and Chase Griffin, running back Keegan Jones, receiver Logan Loya, tight end Moliki Matavao and linebacker Kain Medrano. “A game like, this you want to send the seniors off on the right note,” Schwesinger said, “but on top of that, it’s being able to go out there and play competitively. We’re all here because we like to play football and you get a chance to do that, you’ve gotta go out and play your hardest.” Jordan Chiles promotes return Olympic and UCLA gymnast Jordan Chiles was in attendance for Saturday’s football game and gave a “4’s up” gesture on the big screen during the second quarter, promoting her return to UCLA. Chiles, a junior who took a year off to train for and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, will make her return as a Bruin for the upcoming 2025 season. She made the announcement in an interview with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb in early August. Chiles won a silver medal in 2020 to make her the most decorated Olympian in UCLA women’s gymnastics history. She scored three perfect 10s in her 2022 season as a Bruin — two in floor exercise and one on the uneven bars. She won NCAA titles in both events in 2023 and was the runner-up in the all-around at the national championships. UCLA’s gymnastics season begins with its Meet the Bruins event on Dec. 14 at Pauley Pavilion.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., joins ‘America’s Newsroom’ to discuss the Department of Government Efficiency’s plans to cut spending. Republicans have big plans for spending cuts next year, but some GOP lawmakers are doubting Congress can muster the momentum for significant changes. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, whom President-elect Trump tapped to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an advisory panel on cutting spending and the national debt, were on Capitol Hill Thursday for a series of meetings with lawmakers on how Congress and the White House can work together to achieve that goal. And while that advisory panel is chiefly aimed at what executive actions Trump could take, lawmakers are conceding that significant, lasting change must be achieved through legislation. And some Republicans are skeptical they can get there. "The problem’s in that room," said Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., referring to other GOP lawmakers who met with Musk and Ramaswamy. GOP SENATORS ‘VERY IMPRESSED’ WITH MUSK, RAMASWAMY DOGE FRAMEWORK AMID MEETINGS ON CAPITOL HILL Trump announced Nov. 12, 2024, that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy would be leading the Department of Government Efficiency. (Getty Images) "These guys, you know, they talk real tough," but they did not vote in ways he believed showed they were serious about cutting spending. "You don’t see a lot of that. Now, when is that going to start? Is it going to start just because Elon and Vivek [address us]?" Burchett asked. "I just worry about us losing steam. ... We’ve got to get some guts, and people have got to hold us accountable." REP. JARED MOSKOWITZ FIRST DEMOCRAT TO JOIN CONGRESSIONAL DOGE CAUCUS Retiring Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C., told Fox News "a lot of members" stood up to suggest ways to "save money" during Thursday afternoon’s brainstorming session with Republicans and the DOGE duo. "One would think more of them would have been willing to vote, cast votes on the floor of the House in order to do those things early," Bishop added. The DOGE discussions have opened up longstanding wounds within the House GOP, whose members spent a significant amount of the 118th Congress battling among themselves over how to navigate government funding and other fiscal issues. The national debt recently surpassed $36 trillion. Rep. Chip Roy questioned whether fellow Republicans have the "spine" to pass spending overhauls. (Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images) A senior House GOP aide expressed optimism about the new goal but added that Musk and Ramaswamy were "swinging for the fences." "The hard part is once they find the stuff to cut, I think it’s Congress who has to do the actual cutting, right?" the aide said. Another senior GOP aide said, "The mission of DOGE is worthy and absolutely necessary, but nothing is going to change . We aren’t going to cut spending like we [have to] to get our fiscal house in order, and we aren’t going to slash waste at any significant level." US NATIONAL DEBT HITS A NEW RECORD: $36 TRILLION Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, also skeptical, told Republicans at Thursday's meeting they needed to "grow a spine" to actually move meaningful spending cuts. "I've said to my colleagues, ‘If you can't print money, if, literally, it was banned today, what would you do?’ You would do what you do for your home budget. You would say, 'Well, we can't take a vacation here. I can't get a fancy new car because I need to get braces for my child,'" Roy told WMAL radio host Larry O’Connor. "We don't ever do that, and, until we do, all of the DOGE waste-cutting in the world won't help. We’ve got to do both. We need the waste-cutting, but we need Congress to grow a spine." The GOP lawmaker called DOGE a "magical department that has been erected out of thin air," and pointed out its logo was heavily inspired by a cryptocurrency known as "dogecoin" that Musk has backed. "They’re going to run into a brick wall called ‘members of Congress who know how to do our job,’" the lawmaker said.
