Kennedy Jr. as his nominee for secretary of health and human services. The Curb Your Enthusiasm star shared a bizarre video of RFK Jr. partially nude to promote a line of scented candles, sprays, and body creams sold by her self-care company, Hines + Young. Some of the candles were even branded as “MAHA” or make America healthy Again. In the clip, RFK Jr.’s upper body is visible in the background behind Hines while she playfully admonishes Kennedy for taking a shower while she is hawking her products. ADVERTISEMENT “No, you can’t take a shower,” Hines said to her ostensibly oblivious husband while staring directly at the camera. “I’m doing a video. No, no, no—you’ve got to give me a second, I’m doing a video for Hines + Young. Honey... 60 percent off.” The video includes an embedded link to purchase the candles, highlighting a 60 percent Black Friday discount. The clip is the latest sign that Hines, once a vocal Trump critic, is increasingly on board with her husband’s politics—which wasn’t the case when Kennedy first endorsed Trump in late August after ending his own presidential bid. “Her trepidation about this and discomfort with this... were the dominant feelings,” Kennedy told TMZ of his wife at the time. “She’s a lifelong Democrat and the idea of me supporting Donald Trump as president was just... something that she would have never imagined, that she never wanted in her life.” Earlier this month, Hines joined Kennedy to attend a party at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s resort and residence, where she was snapped living it up alongside major MAGA figures such as Tucker Carlson, Tulsi Gabbard, and Donald Trump Jr. , with Elon Musk , JD Vance , and of course Trump, himself also in attendance. Hines and Kennedy’s relationship had entered the public spotlight in September after news broke that he had a fiery sexting affair with political reporter Olivia Nuzzi . In any case, Hines, who was reportedly at one time considering divorce , appears to have moved past the infidelity—and into Team Trump.NEW YORK , Nov. 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Report on how AI is driving market transformation - The global carbon fiber market size is estimated to grow by USD 2.48 billion from 2024-2028, according to Technavio. DENVER (AP) — Highly touted high school quarterback Julian Lewis has committed to the University of Colorado, possibly an indicator that coach Deion Sanders does indeed plan to stick around in Boulder. The five-star recruit recently decommitted from Southern California to explore his options. He announced Colorado would be his destination Thursday on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” as he donned a Buffaloes stocking cap. Lewis figures to be the heir apparent to Shedeur Sanders, who’s expected to be a top pick in the next NFL draft. handing the keys over to the young QB in a video posted on Lewis’ Instagram account. The Idaho State Capitol rotunda is pictured in this Jan. 23, 2024, photo. (Otto Kitsinger for Idaho Capital Sun) An influx of out-of-state campaign money paid for many of the negative ads in Idaho during the 2024 elections, Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane said Wednesday during the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho Conference in Boise. “There was more money from out of state on negative ads than there was in state,” McGrane said. “That’s the big shift.” During the tax conference, McGrane presented campaign spending and independent expenditure data for 2024 . The data are available on the revamped VoteIdaho.gov website, by clicking the “elections info and results” tab and then the “data and dashboards” header. Most of the money for negative ads came during the 2024 primary election, not last month’s general election. SUBSCRIBE: GET THE MORNING HEADLINES DELIVERED TO YOUR INBOX Of the $1.1 million in out-of-state spending during Idaho’s 2024 primary election, $925,985 was spent opposing candidates versus just $187,649 in out-of-state money spent supporting candidates. By contrast, most of the in-state campaign finance money was spent in support, not in opposition. Among in-state expenditures, almost $1.5 million was spent in support, while $795,643 was spent in opposition. “Everyone I talked to, every legislator who’s approached me recently – and I’ve had people come to the office – is like, ‘How do we stop out-of-state money?’” McGrane said. “And the biggest challenge is, you can’t stop it. We can add more reporting, more transparency. We can steer the rules – whether it’s the funding limits for candidates or other things. But money in politics is a part of the system. It’s like water in a river. You can steer it but you can’t stop it.” “There is more money coming in than ever before,” McGrane added. With the influx of campaign money – almost $16.4 million in total spending in 2024 – McGrane said transparency and accurate financial reporting are more important than ever. The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office recently revamped the VoteIdaho.gov website to include campaign finance data. From the site, the public can search for the candidates who spent the most money, the out-of-state organizations that spent the most money and more. For the 2024 primary election, the out-of-state group spending the most was the Alexandria, Va.-based Make Liberty Win. The group spent $703,533 in Idaho for the 2024 primary election, more than all other out-of-state groups combined. In the primary, Make Libery Win spent $107,473 opposing former Senate Majority Leader Chuck Winder, R-Boise, who was defeated in the primary. Make Liberty Win also spent $112,852 opposing House Speaker Mike Moyle, R-Star, who won his primary election and went on to be re-elected Nov. 5. Make Liberty Win spent money opposing Winder, Moyle and 30 incumbent Idaho legislators during the primary election. “It’s interesting, because all of a sudden, we’re not used to this attention,” McGrane said. “We’re used to our cause. We’re Idaho. We’re a flyover space. People aren’t supposed to pay attention. All of a sudden people are paying attention, and we’re seeing more money in this space.” Overall, most campaign money still comes from Idaho, not out-of-state, McGrane said. But when it comes to negative campaign spending, the out-of-state contributions exceed in-state. Now in its 78th year, the annual Associated Taxpayers of Idaho Conference has long been considered the unofficial kickoff to Idaho’s annual legislative session, which begins Jan. 6. About 500 people attended Wednesday’s taxpayers conference in Boise, including dozens of elected officials, business executives, lobbyists, finance and accounting professionals. During the tax conference, McGrane also announced the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office is launching a revamped lobbyist reporting and disclosure system and website. The new lobbyist disclosure site is similar to the revamped campaign finance site McGrane used to highlight out-of-state spending. Monday, December 30, 2024 UK citizens heading to the European Union will face new travel regulations in 2025, including the implementation of biometric border checks under the Entry/Exit System (EES) and the introduction of visa-waiver requirements. These changes are part of the EU’s effort to modernize and secure its borders. EES Biometric Border Checks The long-anticipated EES system is expected to go live in 2025 after several delays. This digital border control system will replace the traditional passport stamp process with biometric data collection, such as fingerprints and facial scans, to record travelers’ entries and exits from EU countries. First-Time Registration: When the system launches, UK travelers will need to scan their passport, provide fingerprints, have a facial photograph taken, and answer four questions about their trip. Subsequent Travel: For future trips over the next three years—or until their passport expires—travelers will only need to provide one biometric detail, either a fingerprint or a facial scan. Process at Ports and Airports At airports, biometric checks will occur upon landing. For Eurostar, Eurotunnel, or ferry travelers, the checks will be conducted on UK soil before departure. Drivers crossing via ferry ports will be required to exit their vehicles for biometric processing, raising concerns about potential delays and longer queues. To streamline the process, travelers will be able to pre-register their details via an app or self-service kiosks at select locations. However, the rollout is expected to be phased, with some teething issues anticipated during the initial implementation. Exemptions for Children Children under 12 will only need to have their photo taken and will not be required to provide fingerprints. Visa Waiver Requirements Alongside the EES, UK citizens traveling to the EU will also need to obtain a visa waiver under the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), which is set to be introduced in 2025. This electronic authorization will cost €7 and will be valid for three years or until the traveler’s passport expires. Impact on Travelers The new rules aim to enhance border security and streamline data collection, but they are likely to alter the travel experience for British citizens. Critics have expressed concerns about potential delays, particularly at ferry ports where drivers must leave their vehicles for checks. To minimize inconvenience, officials recommend pre-registering biometric details and ensuring all travel documentation is up to date. The UK government advises travelers to familiarize themselves with the new requirements before their first trip to the EU in 2025. Conclusion These new measures mark a significant change for UK travelers to the EU, with the introduction of advanced biometric technology and visa-waiver systems. While the updates aim to improve border security and efficiency, travelers are advised to prepare for potential initial delays as the systems are rolled out across member states.Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau flies to Florida to meet with Trump after tariffs threat WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has flown to Florida to have dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club after Trump threatened to impose sweeping tariffs on Canadian products. Joining Trump and Trudeau at dinner were Trump's picks for commerce secretary, interior secretary and national security adviser, and the three men's wives. From the Canadian side, the dinner guests included Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, whose responsibilities include border security. Trump’s transition did not respond to questions about what they had discussed or whether the conversation alleviated Trump’s concerns about the border. A smiling Trudeau declined comment upon returning to his West Palm Beach hotel late Friday. Emboldened 'manosphere' accelerates threats and demeaning language toward women after US election CHICAGO (AP) — An emboldened fringe of right-wing “manosphere” influencers has seized on Donald Trump’s presidential win to justify and amplify misogynistic derision and threats online. Many have appropriated a 1960s abortion rights rallying cry, declaring “Your body, my choice,” and have been using it publicly on college campuses and even in public schools. While none of the current online rhetoric is being amplified by Trump, experts say many young men see the former president’s return to the White House as vindication of their views on women. For many women, the words are a worrying sign of what might lie ahead as some men perceive the election results as a rebuke of reproductive rights and women’s rights. Syrian insurgents are inside Aleppo in a major setback for Assad as government forces regroup BEIRUT (AP) — Thousands of Syrian insurgents have fanned out inside Syria's largest city Aleppo a day after storming it with little resistance from government troops. Syria's army said troops have redeployed to prepare for a counteroffensive. Witnesses said insurgents were seen Saturday at landmarks in Aleppo for the first time since 2016, when they were expelled by government forces backed by Russia and Iran. The surprise offensive is a major embarrassment for Syrian President Bashar Assad, who has regained total control of the city eight years ago. An Israeli strike in Gaza kills World Central Kitchen workers. Israel says 1 was an Oct. 7 attacker DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli airstrike on a car in the Gaza Strip on Saturday killed five people including employees of World Central Kitchen. The charity says it is “urgently seeking more details” after Israel’s military said it targeted a WCK worker who had been part of the Hamas attack that sparked the war. The charity in an email says it is “heartbroken” by the airstrike and that it had no knowledge anyone in the car had alleged ties to the Oct. 7, 2023 attack, saying it is “working with incomplete information.” It says it is pausing operations in Gaza. Lebanese fisherman hope ceasefire with Israel means normal life returning TYRE, Lebanon (AP) — The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is bringing hope for normality back to many in southern Lebanon. That includes fishermen who’ve long launched their single-engine wooden boats into the Mediterranean at dawn. For months, Israel imposed a siege that kept hundreds of fishermen at this ancient Phoenician port ashore. That upended their lives and dealt the industry a major blow. The port siege also cut people off from key ingredients for traditional Lebanese dishes. As war devastated their country, the loss of fish damaged a deep association with home. Now, the possibility of renewed fishing is helping fuel hope. How Brazilian police say Bolsonaro plotted a coup to stay in office SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil’s Federal Police have formally accused former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro and 36 others of plotting a coup to keep him in office. The plot was allegedly comprised of several components and substantiated by evidence and testimony in the agency's 884-page report. The pieces of the puzzle include laying the groundwork by systematically sowing distrust of the electoral system among the populace. It also includes drafting a decree to give the plot a veneer of legal basis and pressuring top military brass to go along with the plan. Bolsonaro and his main allies have denied any wrongdoing or involvement and accuse authorities of political persecution. More than 100 arrested as Georgian police clash with protesters over suspension of EU talks TBILISI, Georgia (AP) — More than 100 demonstrators were arrested overnight in Georgia as protesters clashed with police following the government’s decision to suspend negotiations to join the European Union, the country’s Interior Ministry said. Friday marked the second straight night of protests after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze of the country’s ruling Georgian Dream party announced the suspension the previous day. The Associated Press saw protesters in Tbilisi being chased and beaten by police as demonstrators rallied in front of the country's parliament building. The violence follows Georgian Dream’s disputed victory in the Oct. 26 election, which was widely seen as a referendum on the country’s aspirations to join the European Union. Romania's parliamentary vote risks being overshadowed by presidential race chaos BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanians are preparing to go to the polls in a parliamentary vote that will determine a new government and prime minister to lead the European Union and NATO member country. However, Sunday's vote is sandwiched between a two-round presidential race and is overshadowed by controversies and chaos following the outcome of the first vote. While the president has significant decision-making powers in areas such as national security and foreign policy, the prime minister is the head of the nation’s government. Sunday’s vote will determine the formation of the country’s 466-seat legislature. North Korea's Kim vows steadfast support for Russia’s war in Ukraine SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country will “invariably support” Russia’s war in Ukraine as he met Russia's visiting defense chief. China investigates defence minister for corruption: report BEIJING: Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun has been placed under investigation for corruption, a report said on Wednesday, which would make him the latest official to fall in a sweeping crackdown on graft in the country ́s military. Citing current and former US officials familiar with the situation, British newspaper the Financial Times said the investigation into Dong was part of that broader probe into military corruption. If confirmed, Dong would be the third Chinese defence minister in a row to fall under investigation for corruption. Asked about the report at a regular briefing on Wednesday, Chinese foreign ministry spokewoman Mao Ning said it was just “chasing shadows” and did not offer further information. A former navy commander, he was appointed defence minister in December following the surprise removal of predecessor Li Shangfu just seven months into the job. Li was later expelled from the ruling Communist Party for offences including suspected bribery, state media said. He has not been seen in public since. His predecessor, Wei Fenghe, was also kicked out of the party and passed on to prosecutors over alleged corruption. “It ́s certainly a blow... because one would imagine they will be super careful to have someone very clean in this role,” Dylan Loh, an assistant professor at Singapore ́s Nanyang Technological University.
