BBC Breakfast fans were left baffled on Saturday morning when the early news program broadcast from a pub at a time when most wouldn't have even had their morning toast. While presenters Naga Munchetty and Roger Johnson were helming the weekend instalment of the BBC news show, the cameras cut to reporter Oli Constable in Essex where he was standing outside a local pub in the market town of Saffron Walden. With the clock clearly showing it was the very early time of 7:20am and the winter sun had not yet begun to rise on the horizon, the young reporter bounded inside the building to reveal a bustling community of people gathered together in the pub. Standing outside The Ickleton Lion, Oli explained: "This is a community pub that has been saved from closure. It’s one of the oldest pubs in the village. Let’s go inside, shall we? Because it’s cold out here, but there’s going to be a lovely, nice warm welcome for us inside. "Let’s pop inside, because we’ve asked people to come down, early this morning, to say hello. Because this is a very exciting day. They had the keys just a week ago to reopen this pub and create this lovely community venue. And look how great it is!" The cameras showed a bustling pub environment and Old went on to interview members of the local community who had united together to save the historic venue - which has been serving the local community since 1728. It had been put up for sale by Greene King in 2023 and the local community members successfully raised £440,000 to secure the premise and keep it open. While the local news story certainly had its charm, viewers tuning in to BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning took to social media to question why the segment had been approved by news editors. One complained on X: "I know it's the Christmas holiday, and news is generally a bit slow, but a 'saving a pub' is more suited to #ThisMorning than #BBCBreakfast." Another viewer complained: "Dont look like a pub, just turned up to get on the telly with a free coffee." And a further morning news fan who appeared to be lacking festive cheer added: "England's most boring pub." The team at the Ickleton Lion pub, however, were very happy with the spotlight that was shone upon them in the early hours of the weekend. Taking to Facebook following their starring role on the BBC show, the group wrote: "A huge thank you to Oli and Kevin from BBC Breakfast for joining us this morning to cover our brilliant news! It was lovely to meet you both." They added: "Fabulous support too from loads of Ickletonians and shareholders - some coming from as far afield as Kent, Surrey and Scotland ! Thank you all for coming out so early. There’ll be a mega celebration when we open in a few months time. Looking forward to seeing you all then!" Could the face of the Las Vegas Raiders franchise be on a new team next season? We’re referring to Pro Bowl pass-rusher Maxx Crosby, of course. Controversy has roared over the past couple of days throughout social media due to Maxx Crosby discussing his concerns with both his contract situation and turnover within the Raiders organization. On his podcast, “ The Rush “, Sin City’s superstar addressed the constant coaching revisions and instability with his contract. Correspondingly, Las Vegas may deem this as the perfect opportunity to trade Crosby and receive an abundance of draft capital. This season was surprisingly underwhelming for the reliable edge rusher. Crosby was poised for a historic year, but injuries to his teammates and himself derailed the possibility. He finished his 2024 campaign with half of the sacks he had in 2023, totaling only seven . On December 14th, the Eastern Michigan alum wrote a ‘goodbye’ post, noting he opted to undergo season-ending surgery. While addressing a similar situation with Myles Garrett in Cleveland, Crosby empathized with him. Both players endure constant change with teammates and coaching staff. “There are new coaches every other year and new teammates,” Crosby said. “There have been years where I think this D-line is cold and then I come back and every one of them is gone.” Additionally, “The Condor” has no more stability left in his current deal . “I have no more guaranteed money,” Crosby noted. “There’s going to be a lot of things that need to be talked about.” Does trading Maxx Crosby make sense for the Las Vegas Raiders? No. 98 is currently still under contract from the four-year, $94 million extension he received during the ‘23 offseason. However, only 2023 and 2024 offered a guaranteed salary for the veteran . This means the Raiders have a loophole out of the contract in 2025 that would involve a dead cap hit of only $10 million. Crosby will be 28 years of age entering next season and in the prime of his career. However, rewarding him a new contract after a subpar year does not make sense. Trading away a superstar like him will not be an easy task. The difficulty is finding a willing trade partner ready to “win now.” Crosby should only be traded for multiple first-round picks on account of his perceived impact. Unfortunately for the Raiders, not many teams will want to reach this compensation if things reach that point. You could argue that Crosby is beginning to suffer the effects of being an “ iron man. ” Wear and tear might finally be rearing its head. On the other hand, if the edge rusher wishes to be traded, the Raiders should honor the request. A major reason to trade him is for the upcoming draft. With few lottery quarterbacks to choose from, and the Raiders winning meaningless games, the team may need to trade up. Particularly for Crosby, he has been an impact player from day one. Be that as it may, that has not created team success: one playoff appearance and zero playoff wins. More than that, he has only witnessed one winning season as a Raider. Raider Nation has seen this story before, and it did not end well When the Raiders traded Khalil Mack, the franchise was arguably set back. Though, at that time, it was widely recognized that the Silver and Black were entering a full rebuild under the returning Jon Gruden. Draft picks are a risk no matter what round it is. The Raiders learned this the hard way upon trading Mack. The team thought draft capital was better than a generational talent. In the end, the Raiders became the laughingstock of the NFL draft due to essentially wasting their high-round picks. What Trading Maxx Crosby Means Nobody wishes a tremendous player like “The Condor” off of their team. However, if everything makes sense for the future, it is the right move. Head coach Antonio Pierce is not secure in his current position. It is possible a new regime enters the building in 2025; a new coach will bring a brand new philosophy and different game-plan. If that happens, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham could be departing from the team as well. He garnered interest last offseason for head coaching gigs , and with the way his defense has performed this season, he could do so once again. Alternatively, Graham could potentially be canned as a scapegoat to the Raiders’ miserable season. In any event, trading Crosby means either this regime or a new one believes his production and compensatory value do not match. Crosby will ask for guaranteed money this offseason and the decision will be on the head coach and general manager tandem. Should the Raiders pay Crosby and keep the face of the franchise happy, or start a new era in Sin City with a multitude of assets? Elon Musk has been a presence in our lives for a long time now, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change any time soon. Whether it’s starting Tesla , venturing SpaceX , turning Twitter into X, and now running the Department of Government Efficiency under the incoming Trump administration, the CEO has a hand in things that affect your life, directly or indirectly. And like any other celebrity , he has gotten into the booze game, even if it’s a vague affiliation— Tesla just released a new mezcal priced at a cool $450, and we got to sample this curiosity. The marque’s first agave spirit was a tequila that launched in 2020, a $250 bottle produced by tequila and mezcal brand Nosotros and sold by Speakeasy Co., followed by another tequila marked to an astounding $1,000 per bottle. This new mezcal was also produced in partnership with Nosotros, the second run of limited-edition mezcal that now has spirits e-commerce site and subscription service Flaviar onboard as “tech, online marketing, and fulfillment partner.” The first release came out last June and sold out pretty quickly, and this expensive bottle is also being released in pretty limited numbers. “At Flaviar, we’re inspired by the ecosystem Tesla has created through its groundbreaking innovations and are proud to be the trusted technology and fulfillment partner for Tesla Mezcal,” said Josh Jacobs, the brand’s SVP of strategic partnerships. “As with Tesla Tequila and Beer before, we have seen the first batch of Tesla Mezcal fly off the shelves in June, and we are positive this holiday restock will be no exception.” Tesla’s director of product design Javier Verdura thought up the black lightning bolt–shaped bottle; he says he was inspired by his Mexican roots. To be fair, it really looks more just like a Tesla design than anything that has to do with Mexican culture, and it sits in a holder to keep it upright but is a bit unwieldy to pour. Tesla Mezcal is an ensemble expression made from Espadín and Bicuishe agave varietals. According to the brand, the agave is milled using a tahona wheel, a traditional volcanic stone that crushes the pinas, and it is distilled in alembic stills before being bottled at 86 proof. This is an assertive mezcal, with a strong smokiness throughout every sip. There are notes of raisin, pineapple, overripe lime, and some under-ripe stone fruit on the palate, along with equal parts mineral and floral flavors. This is not some watered down version of one of Mexico’s most beloved agave spirits categories, but it still begs some questions. As Javier Cabral pointed out on the website L.A. Taco last week, the world’s richest man selling mezcal feels like exploitation and appropriation taken to a new level, even in an agave-spirits industry in which that is rampant. And it’s not that Tesla Mezcal is actually bad as far as quality or flavor—in fact, Nosotros is a well-regarded brand, although it is made at a distillery that produces many, many others. If you’d like to give this status-symbol mezcal a try to see what you think, you can purchase a bottle now from the Tesla Mezcal website .
The Philadelphia Eagles listed three players on their initial injury report ahead of their Week 13 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens listed seven players on their initial injury report. Here's the Eagles-Ravens injury report, with analysis... Wednesday notes : • Smith did not play Week 12, but it didn't matter as Saquon Barkley ran all over the Rams. The Ravens are allowing 277.7 passing yards per game, second-worst in the NFL, so this is a game that the Eagles really need Smith to help exploit a Baltimore defensive weakness. • Slay suffered a concussion Week 12 against the Rams. He was replaced in the lineup by Isaiah Rodgers, who gave up a few completions, but also made one of the plays of the night when he forced a red zone fumble that was recovered by the Eagles. • Ringo did not play at all on defense Week 12 despite some garbage time opportunities late in the game. He likely got hurt earlier in the game. • Not shown above are Saquon Barkley, Mekhi Becton, London Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Cam Jurgens, Jordan Mailata, and Josh Sweat, who were all limited with "rest" days. Other notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc. • EDGE Brandon Graham (IR) : Graham tore his left triceps in the Eagles' win over the Rams. Before the season, Graham said that the 2024 season, his 15th in the NFL, would be his last. He played very well, and was arguably the team's best edge defender. If indeed his season is over, Graham will have finished with 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks, with his stats not truly showing his actual impact, as has been the case throughout his career. • S James Bradberry (IR) : The Eagles kept Bradberry on their active roster for no good reason at 53-man cutdowns, and then the next day he suffered a "lower body" injury that was originally supposed to keep him out 6-8 weeks. MORE : NFC Hierarchy/Obituary: Week 13 edition Wednesday notes : • The Ravens held a walkthrough, so this is just an estimation. • Roquan Smith is the Ravens' first-team All-Pro linebacker. On the season he has 110 tackles. He did not play Week 12 against the Chargers, but his projected ability to practice on Wednesday in a step in the direction of being able to play again, I guess? He did not practice at all last week. • Van Noy is in his 12th season. He co-leads the Ravens with 8 sacks. • Kolar has 9 catches for 131 yards and a TD this season. He has a broken arm and is out. He'll likely go on IR later in the week. • Maulet is a journeyman slot corner. Backup. Other notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc. • DT Michael Pierce : Rotational DT. 15 tackles, 1 sack this season. He had his 21-day practice window opened on Wednesday. • RS Deonte Harty : Ultra-small (5'6, 170) return specialist. is sharing the serendipitous way she met her boyfriend, . On the Christmas episode of podcast, the pro, 19, opened up about how her relationship with the USC football player began after she decided to take an Uber after feeling frustrated with Los Angeles traffic. As she prepared for her second season of the dance competition show, Arnold confessed she felt "sad and lonely" and "didn't really have anybody" as her family lived in another state and her friend and fellow pro were away in New York. "I remember I had to go get an outfit for, I think it was for ," she recalled. "And I was just like, I don't want a freaking drive right now and try to find parking at a random Mall. And it's Saturday. Like, I'm just not going to do that." Related: When she called her mom on the phone, she suggested Arnold take an Uber ride, find an outfit and go right home for some "self-care." "I get in this Uber. It's this really nice lady," she said of her driver. "And we're just like, talking about dance, and she's talking about what she does. And also she was like, 'Okay, this might sound really weird. Don't take this the wrong way.'" Her driver revealed that she had a "nephew playing USC football" and she had an instant impression that the two would "really get along." She encouraged the dancer to look Lyons up on Instagram and to connect with him if she was interested. Rylee Arnold/ Instagram Related: "I was like, okay, trusted this girl," Arnold continued. "I looked him up, and I was like, 'Okay, he's cute.' So at that point, I was like too scared to really do anything about it, and so I was just kind of like put it on my back pocket." When she came back home, she forgot about the exchange and went back into " mode." At the time, she "didn't really have a desire to get into a relationship" and balancing love with her hectic schedule seemed "so crazy to me" as she was unsure about her emotional availability. One day, one of her sisters sent a TikTok video to their family group chat and suggested she reach out to him for a potential date. "I was like, 'You guys are gonna die right now. Like, I literally was in his aunt's Uber a week ago,' and they're like, 'Riley, like, follow him. Now, follow him now,'" she laughed. "And then come to know that my brother-in-law is actually friends with his best friend's dad, and so there's a connection there." Rylee Arnold/ Instagram Related: Turns out, Lyons knew a lot of her friends in Utah as many his hometown friends also went to school in the same area she grew up. "We have a crazy amount of mutuals so the fact we hadn't met before is kind of crazy, but I think we met at the most perfect time in both of our lives," she added. "But anyways, I followed him first on Instagram, so then he followed me back, and he messaged me, and then got my number, and we text for a while, and then he was like, 'Can I take you on a date?' And I was like, 'Of course you can,'" she said. "That's where it all started." In October, Arnold debuted her relationship with Lyons in an Instagram post that featured a carousel of photos from one of his football games. "Is this a hard launch?? 🤭❤️🔥," she captioned the post.
