MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski makes bizarre social media move after defending her controversial Trump meeting Follow DailyMail.com's politics live blog for all the latest news and updates By JOE HUTCHISON FOR DAILYMAIL.COM Published: 21:55 GMT, 22 November 2024 | Updated: 22:02 GMT, 22 November 2024 e-mail View comments Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski has backed away from using social media platform X despite defending her meeting with president-elect Donald Trump and encouraging fans to 'speak to everyone'. Brzezinski, 57, made what appears to be her final post to the platform, owned by Trump supporter Elon Musk , opting to move to left-leaning site Bluesky . 'I’ve decided to leave X, but I’d love to keep the conversation going. Join me on BlueSky!', linking her new profile on the site. It's a far cry from the open-mindedness she has been preaching since her meeting with Trump. On Monday, Brzezinski and her husband and co-host Joe Scarborough said on their show that they had visited Trump at his Florida home after a years long feud. Things came to a boil earlier this year after Scarborough likened Trump to Adolf Hitler , with their visit sparking fury amongst their liberal viewers and show staff. Speaking about the visit for the first time with The Daily Beast podcast with hosts , Brzezinski said they met with Trump due to people being 'really scared'. 'The way I look at it is people are really scared, that's one of the reasons we went in there. People are really scared about Trump's comments about political adversaries. A lot of people are scared because of what has happened with abortion.' Whether they are in the media or citizens of this great country. 'I think everybody is scared, disorientated, fearful of the future, and I think just for a quick moment I might the punching bag for that. Her comments don't square with her leaving X, which is owned by Trump's closest ally, Elon Musk. When asked if the meeting made her more hopeful , she said: 'No, I would have no illusions about that. I am glad it happened. The fact that it happened is good.' 'I am deeply, deeply, upset and fearful for the woman of this country, and not just the women of child-bearing age. I'm going to be looking for ways to work on this issue.' Revealing the meeting on Monday, Brzezinski said they decided to reach out to Trump due to their viewers expressing fear over his election win . She added: 'My father [diplomat Zbigniew Brzezinski] often spoke with world leaders with whom he and the United States profoundly disagreed. That's a task shared by reporters and commentators alike. 'Joe and I realized it’s time to do something different and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him.' Brzezinski shared that Trump was cheerful during their meeting and seemed interested in finding common ground with Democrats. Trump told Fox News that he took the meeting in order to 'Make America Great Again, it is very important, if not vital, to have a free, fair and open media or press.' 'I am not looking for retribution, grandstanding or to destroy people who treated me very unfairly,' he added. 'Many things were discussed, and I very much appreciated the fact that they wanted to have open communication,' he said. 'In many ways, it's too bad that it wasn't done long ago.' Trump said that both of the hosts, 'congratulated me on running a 'great and flawless campaign, one for the history books.' 'The meeting ended in a very positive manner, and we agreed to speak in the future,' he said. Following the big reveal on Monday, their ratings have tanked 15 percent overall and a whopping 41 percent in the 25-54 year old demographic. Trump appeared on the show dozens of times before the pair fell out spectacularly during the 2016 election cycle The show went from 770,000 viewers on Monday, to 680,000 Tuesday, to 647,000 Wednesday, per Variety. Trump used to be routine contributor to Morning Joe, and Scarborough was an early cheerleader for the billionaire's maverick bid for the GOP nomination in 2016. But relations soured as Trump pulled off a surprise victory in the Republican primaries and began to look like a serious challenger to the Democrats' Hillary Clinton. Read More Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough addresses claims he 'killed' intern who died in his office The four-hour morning show became a bastion of the Democratic establishment after Trump's first term, with President Joe Biden routinely tuning in while doing his morning exercises to see his acolytes promote the party's talking points. With Trump in the White House and Scarborough engaged to co-host Brzezinski he began cementing his show's identity as an outpost of opposition to the new administration. The couple even recorded a Christmas album called 'A Very Drumpf Christmas' with children's songs portraying the president as Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It eventually attracted the attention of the president himself, who delivered a series of withering put-downs, labeling Scarborough 'Psycho Joe' and his then-fiancée as 'low IQ Crazy Mika', while mischievously claiming she had been 'bleeding badly from a face-lift' during a visit to his Mar-a-Lago estate. Brzezinski later confirmed she'd been recovering from cosmetic surgery during the trip. And the feud deepened when the president revived long-debunked claims that Scarborough had been involved in the death of his former congressional staffer who was found dead on his office floor in 2001. An autopsy found that Lori Bolterstein Klausutis, 28, had hit her head on a desk after collapsing from an undiagnosed heart-valve irregularity but Trump called for a fresh investigation into the case. The allegations earned Trump his first rebuke from Twitter, which would eventually kick him off the platform altogether in January 2021. NoneIf social media and influencer culture have been good for any industry, it would have to be cameras. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok beg users to capture the world for all to see, whether it's through ridiculous stunts, random acts of kindness, scripted skits, or outlandish adventures. At the center of every parkour video and trending challenge post, a camera is there to absorb the moment so it can be replayed for all the world to witness. That sounds like a pretty hefty undertaking, which is why you may tend to see the same camera brands being trusted. Among the more common is Insta360, a relatively new entry in the camera scene behind the revered 8K recordings of the Insta360 X4 . Introduced in 2015, nine years after GoPro came onto the market with a 35mm GoPro Hero, Insta360 rapidly expanded to eventually establish a product base of more than a dozen handheld, miniature, or action cameras. According to the Insta360 website, the goal of the brand was to develop a 360-degree camera that could capture panoramic videos to pull viewers into the action. Today, it continues to improve upon the concept in offices based in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Berlin, Shenzhen, and Tokyo. Though Insta360 expanded into those territories, none of them are where the company was established. Nor are they where the cameras are manufactured. For those locations, we'll need to look across the Atlantic. Unlike the known practice of some American companies, Insta360 isn't an American-made brand outsourcing its manufacturing to another country. While you'll find local corporations like Apple moving the assembly of products like the iPhone to China, that isn't quite the case for the camera manufacturer. That's because Insta360 is already a Chinese company doing business under the name Arashi Vision, Inc. out of Shenzhen. Before becoming as big as it is today, though, Insta360 was a concept that took shape in a dorm room on the Nanjing University campus. When JK Liu conceived of the idea for the 360-degree camera, panoramic video wasn't common among casual videographers, as the tools were still big and cumbersome. In 2015, after his graduation from Nanjing, Liu went to work on a user-friendly panoramic camera. The result was Insta360, which immediately found a home in Shenzhen, a district known for its thriving tech industry and access to components. Despite its growth after the Insta360 Nano premiered at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2017, the company kept its roots in Shenzen. As of December 2024, JK Liu was still noted as the CEO of Arashi Vision and even earned a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30. Considering all the production it takes on for the United States, it can be reasoned fairly simply that a China-based company would handle its own manufacturing. While not explicitly stated anywhere on the Insta360 website, the country of origin is mentioned on the Amazon listings of some of its cameras, like the tiny but serviceable Insta Go 3 . Per the listing, Insta360 cameras are manufactured out of the company's parent country, China. While Amazon requires all companies to list the country of origin for products, it's not something that is necessarily verified. However, there's no real benefit for Insta360 to lie about China being the originating country. As for the satellite offices outside of Shenzhen and China, they may not manufacture products, but they do serve a consumer-facing purpose. When searching for an Insta360 service center on the official website, most countries are directed to contact service centers in Hong Kong, Germany, California, and Japan. A select few, like the Philippines, are directed to contact a local company that seems unaffiliated with Insta360. For the Philippines, it's Agile Technologies' TekMage, an authorized repair service center located in Manila.

NoneToday’s news headlines and Thought for the Day for school assembly: 5 December 2024Pets and classrooms might not seem like the perfect pair, but a dedicated group of teachers at Bessemer Middle School is proving that pet therapy can change that and make a difference in some students' behavior. Bodie, a golden retriever who the kids have met before, recently returned for another visit, and this time, "Little Lilly" joined him. "Having the dogs here was really fun because I never thought in a million years I would have had a dog in my classroom," said sixth-grader Jeremiah Freeman Getting to participate in this new program is all about good behavior. "We usually try to do this once a month on a Friday, at the end of the month," explained Yuvraj Verma, a sixth-grade math teacher. "So, that way students have an incentive of something that they could look forward to before the month ends." Verma and his colleagues are using this different approach to help boost their students' social and emotional well-being. "Socialization skills are, you know, essential when you're in the sixth grade, and this is a great initiative to actually teach them, you know, certain skills to be successful," said Verma. "When I was giving the students the consent forms, I was asking them, who's ever had a dog, who's ever played with the dog? Who's ever been to just general therapy? Because that kind of got us into the conversation of mental health as a whole. It wasn't just focusing on, you know, just being with pets." Verma secured a grant from the nonprofit "Pet Partners" to fund the program for up to 100 students throughout the school year. Since its launch in September, the teachers agree the impact has been remarkable. "We've noticed students who may not interact with one another have interacted," said Verma. "We have a lot of ELL students, meaning they don't speak English as their first language, so a lot of times they may not feel as are able to communicate, but when you're petting a dog, and everyone's just smiling and happy, that's a natural language that everyone knows." Farrah Cureton, a sixth-grade teacher, shared her personal experience with the program. "So the first moment they came in, I think you could, like, hear a pin drop. I was a little apprehensive. I want to be a dog lover, but I'm a little afraid. But after meeting Bodie, he was awesome. And I actually purchased a dog after the first pet therapy," Cureton said. Students like Kaleah Mayes and Malaysia White are already looking forward to the next visit. "It is very exciting to see our classmates happy and just getting to know the dog better," said Mayes. "I hope Lillie and Bodie come back," said White. By exposing students to something new and creating a safe, positive space, the teachers hope this provides an outlet for students who may have experienced trauma and that the lessons learned through pet therapy will stay with their students for years to come.Juventus are considering moves for Liam Delap and Joshua Zirkzee, while Paris St-Germain might offer Randal Kolo Muani in part exchange for Christopher Nkunku. Maryland (7-0) led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, but George Mason (6-1) rallied and took the lead late in the third. The Terrapins led by two with just more than three minutes to play when Smikle stole the ball and made a layup while being fouled. The free throw pushed the lead to 58-53, and a putback by Smikle put Maryland up by seven.

While Christmas Day is the most wonderful time of the year for many, Scottie Scheffler will remember his 2024 festivities for different reasons. To cap off a roller coaster year for the men’s golf World No. 1, Scheffler suffered an injury while preparing his Christmas dinner and will now miss the start of the PGA Tour’s 2025 season . “On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” Scheffler’s manager Blake Smith said via the PGA Tour on Friday. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.” Smith added that Scheffler has been told he “should be back to 100% in three to four weeks”. But following surgery, the 28-year-old will miss The Sentry tournament, the PGA Tour season-opener in Hawaii. This news is just the latest in a hectic calendar year for Scheffler – on and off the golf course. On the links, Scheffler has been on a streak that most golfers can only dream of. In April, he won the Masters before going on to win gold at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris. In total, Scheffler won seven events on the PGA Tour in 2024, including the TOUR Championship. Scheffler also won the Hero World Challenge and helped lead Team USA to its tenth straight win at the Presidents Cup. It was an equally memorable year off the course for the Olympic Gold medalist. Scheffler and his wife Meredith welcomed their first child on May 8 this year, just over a week before Scheffler played in the PGA Championship. It was during that tournament that Scheffler was arrested , charged with felony assault and released from jail before shooting a stellar 5-under par on day two of the event. All charges against the golfer were later dismissed . There certainly won’t be many more eventful years in the golfer’s life and his 2025 season will now be getting off to a much quieter start after his injury. Scheffler expects to return to competition in mid-January at The American Express tournament at La Quinta, California, according to Smith.LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers’ signing of Blake Snell became official Saturday, adding the two-time Cy Young Award winner to front a starting rotation stocked with question marks. Snell, who will turn 32 next week, agreed to a five-year, $182 million contract that includes a $52 million signing bonus and $65 million in deferred salary. That deal was pending a physical which Snell passed. The 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner with the Tampa Bay Rays, Snell won the National League Cy Young in 2023 after going 14-9 with a 2.25 ERA for the San Diego Padres. He became a free agent last winter but stayed on the market well into March looking for a long-term deal that never materialized despite his Cy Young history. The Dodgers were involved with Snell at one point before he signed a two-year, $62 million contract with the San Francisco Giants that included an opt-out clause. He exercised that opt-out after going 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA in an injury-interrupted season with the Giants. He had 145 strikeouts and just 44 walks in 104 innings. But he made just 20 starts due to two trips to the injured list with a groin injury (likely related to his late signing affecting his preparation for the season). The 20 starts were his fewest in a full season since his rookie year in 2016 (19 starts). Snell goes to the front of a rotation that includes a number of players returning from injury and/or surgery. Shohei Ohtani is expected to return to pitching after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery in September 2023. But his return to the mound will be delayed by surgery on his non-throwing shoulder following the World Series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto finished the 2024 season healthy but missed three months with a rotator cuff strain. Neither he nor Ohtani will be asked to pitch on less than five days of rest and the Dodgers are planning to go with a six-man rotation in 2025. Tyler Glasnow’s 2024 season ended early with an elbow injury and his status for 2025 is uncertain. Tony Gonsolin will be returning from Tommy John surgery. Dustin May did not pitch in 2024 while recovering from his own elbow surgery and a torn esophagus. Emmet Sheehan is expected back at some point in 2025 after his Tommy John surgery. Clayton Kershaw is expected to re-sign at some point. But he underwent foot and knee surgeries in November and is not likely to be available for a full season. Walker Buehler and Jack Flaherty are free agents. The Dodgers will start the 2025 season early again with another trip to Asia. They are scheduled to open the regular season with two games against the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19 in Tokyo.Trump gave Interior nominee one directive for a half-billion acres of US land: ‘Drill.’
