India's antitrust body has turned down a request from Apple to put a hold on an investigation report which found the company breached competition laws, allowing the case to continue, an internal order from the regulator seen by Reuters showed. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) in August ordered a recall of investigation reports after Apple said the watchdog had disclosed commercial secrets to competitors in the case dating back to 2021, including Tinder-owner Match. These elements should have been redacted. The CCI had asked parties to return the reports and destroy any copies. The regulator then issued new reports. The CCI internal order showed that Apple in November alleged that the main complainant in the antitrust investigation - Indian non-profit Together We Fight Society (TWFS) - had not complied with the directives to give an assurance that the old investigation reports had been destroyed. Apple asked the CCI "to take action against TWFS for non-compliance with its order" and "to withhold the revised" report, the CCI order, dated Nov. 13, seen by Reuters showed. Hummus is a simple dish consisting primarily of mashed chickpeas, tahini, oil, and lemon juice with a few seasonings. Yet, nevertheless, you could wind up paying over $5 for a small tub of it. If you have a daily hummus habit, this can add up, so you might want to consider . Not only is it cheaper, but you can control the flavor and omit any unwanted additives. (This last one probably goes without saying unless you're a food chemist who stocks their pantry with preservatives.) How can you make sure that your DIY hummus is as creamy as the kind that comes out of a tub, though? The Takeout posed this question to CJ Jacobson, who competed on "Top Chef" back in the mid-tweens and is now involved in running the two Chicago restaurants and . He feels very strongly that the best homemade hummus always begins with dried chickpeas. So, if you start with rock-hard little legumes, how do you wind up with something soft and creamy? As Jacobson told The Takeout, you need to "Cook the chickpeas for a very long time." Which is to say, for about two hours. You want the garbanzos (yep, same bean) cooked way past al dente. According to Jacobson, the desired texture is "soft and mushy." He also recommends sprinkling baking soda into the cooking water to soften the skins. The softer the better, because . Instead, Jacobson suggested taking time to scoop out a small amount of the water before — and this is important — sticking it in the freezer to chill. If you're lucky, most of the skins will have fallen off as the chickpeas cook, but you'll need to peel off all the remaining bits. (You can outsource this task to any kitchen minions in your employ.) The water can keep chilling as you make the hummus. Blend the tahini and lemon juice until the mixture is nice and fluffy, then add the oil along with garlic, salt, cumin, or any other seasonings you want. Mix in about half of the peeled garbanzos and puree them with the other ingredients, then finish with the rest of the chickpeas along with any other like pesto, cocoa powder, or roasted red peppers. Right at the end, blend in a few tablespoons of icy-cold chickpea water. This starchy liquid, which Jacobson notes is similar to pasta water, makes the hummus light and airy when whipped into the mix. Recommended

This past year, the development of robots has surged with innovations that once seemed far-off now becoming imminent. The long-anticipated release of fully autonomous humanoids—previously confined to industrial settings—is possibly approaching. This is the view of deep tech investor Anders Indset , who has told Digital Journal: “We stand on the brink of a new era as these machines become increasingly sophisticated and capable.” Indset argues: “ Humanoid robots like Tesla’s Optimus are designed for industrial applications, capable of performing tasks in manufacturing and logistics. Elon Musk has indicated that Optimus will become a cornerstone of the company, with Optimus Gen 3 likely to debut by the end of 2024. With the integration of advanced software, visuals, and cameras tied to the Tesla ecosystem—similar technologies pushing for autonomous vehicles and robot taxis—the possibilities for these robots in 2025 are limitless.” The focus on AI agents has attracted significant investment, according to Indset, with record-high “dry powder” of $250 billion in the Bay Area alone directed toward the convergence of AI models and robotics. Indset explains: “Boston Dynamics is not alone in this race; they have introduced fully autonomous working partners that move beyond pre-programmed functions. The humanoid’s shift from hydraulic systems to electric capabilities indicates a move toward enhanced physical and mental performance, closely mimicking the human musculoskeletal system.” Notable examples in humanoid robotics include Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, which has demonstrated impressive agility, and Hanson Robotics’ Sophia, known for her advanced conversational abilities and emotional expressions. These robots, Indset thinks: “showcase the potential for humanoid agents to engage meaningfully with humans, enhancing customer service, healthcare, and education. Similarly, UBTech’s Walker and Agility Robotics’ Digit highlight the industry’s push towards creating robots that can navigate complex environments while performing intricate tasks.” The cost of employment is likely to be a driver. Indset observes: “Today, human labour accounts for approximately 50% of the global GDP, a staggering $42 trillion. As humanoid robots begin to take on roles in construction, logistics, and manufacturing, they will also address the needs of a growing aging population—estimated at 700 million individuals requiring home care in 2.3 billion households worldwide. The demand for assistive technologies will drive the integration of humanoid agents into daily life, providing support to the elderly and enhancing their quality of life.” The issue of technological innovation is not without its concerns. Drawing these out, Indset says: “However, the reliance on foundational AI models presents risks for these companies. The integration of self-hosted models and the potential for AI errors remain significant challenges. If AI fails, the humanoids, while designed to replicate human capabilities, may not achieve the desired outcomes. The ethical and social implications of humanoid agents must also be addressed, particularly concerning job displacement, privacy concerns, and the potential misuse of technology.” So, what does the future hold for humanoid robots? Indset’s view is: “As we approach 2025, we can anticipate the widespread adoption of AI in robotics, enhanced human-robot interactions, and the rise of Robotics as a Service (RaaS) models, making advanced robotic solutions accessible to more industries. Try the more than $115 million that will be spread across the conferences at the end of the season, all depending on who gets in and which teams go the farthest. According to the College Football Playoff website , the 12 teams simply making the bracket earn their conferences $4 million each. Another $4 million goes to conferences whose teams get into the quarterfinals. Then, there's $6 million more for teams that make the semifinals and another $6 million for those who play for the title. Most of this bonanza comes courtesy of ESPN, which is forking over $1.3 billion a year to televise the new postseason. A lot of that money is already earmarked — more goes to the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference than the Big 12 or Atlantic Coast — but a lot is up for grabs in the 11 games that will play out between the opening round on Dec. 20 and the final on Jan. 20. In all, the teams that make the title game will bring $20 million to their conferences, all of which distribute that money, along with billions in TV revenue and other sources, in different ways. In fiscal 2022-23, the Big Ten, for instance, reported revenue of nearly $880 million and distributed about $60.5 million to most of its members. The massive stakes might help explain the unabashed lobbying coming from some corners of the football world, as the tension grows in advance of Sunday's final rankings, which will set the bracket. Earlier this week, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark lit into the selection committee, which doesn't have a single team higher than 15 in the rankings. That does two things: It positions the Big 12 as a one-bid league, and also threatens to makes its champion — either Arizona State or Iowa State — the fifth-best among conference titlists that get automatic bids. Only the top four of those get byes, which could cost the Big 12 a spot in the quarterfinals — or $4 million. “The committee continues to show time and time again that they are paying attention to logos versus resumes,” Yormark said this week, while slamming the idea of teams with two losses in his conference being ranked worse than teams with three in the SEC. The ACC is also staring at a one-bid season with only No. 8 SMU inside the cut line of this week's projected bracket. The bill, which passed third and final reading on Wednesday and set to become law, creates new exemptions for what government documents the public has a right to access. Changes include a blanket exemption for any document created by or for the premier, government ministers or the provincial treasury board, including correspondence like emails. Further changes include documents containing background and factual information used in behind-the-scenes government deliberations in the development of policy and legislation. Information and privacy commissioner Diane McLeod says she had shared her concerns before the bill was tabled last month, and that her letter to Service Alberta Minister last month wouldn’t have been a surprise.
