Apple has stopped selling three iPhone models in Europe -- the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and the iPhone SE 3rd Generation. Here is why. If you’re in Europe and planning to buy an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus or iPhone SE (3rd generation), then know Apple has officially stopped selling these models in certain regions, including the European Union (EU), Northern Ireland, and Switzerland. The reason? A new EU law requires all electronic devices, including smartphones, to use USB-C charging ports by December 28, 2024. Apple, which traditionally used its own Lightning port, started switching to USB-C with the iPhone 15 series. But older models like the iPhone 14 and iPhone SE still use Lightning ports, so they no longer meet the EU’s requirements. Can You Still Buy Them? Yes, but only for the time being the long term. Even though Apple has pulled these units from its official shops in Europe, you may be able to get them through other dealers. For example, even Amazon Spain could have some stock left. However, this is likely to be a short-lived trick as once the existing stock is sold out, these models are not going to be available in the area anymore. However, if you are outside Europe, for instance in the United States, India or China, there won’t be any changes. Apple still sells the iPhone 14 and the iPhone SE in these markets. What Was The EU’s Motivation To Bring This Law? Implementation of new rules has only one goal, to reduce e-waste as well as consumer’s experience. With one single port, you will no longer have to worry about how many cables you have to carry for various devices. As most Android phones use USB-C already, the effect will only be on Apple and its use of the Lightning connection. Apple, on the other hand, was against the idea while claiming that the Lightning port served its purpose well. But the company has adopted USB-C, first on its new iPhones starting iPhone 15 series, then on its iPads and AirPods. What Does This Mean for the Future? For Apple, this move lines up with its broader strategy. The iPhone SE wasn’t selling well anyway, and there are rumours that a new model with USB-C is in the works for early 2025. This gives Apple a chance to refresh its budget lineup while complying with regulations. For users, there’s no need to worry if you already own a Lightning-port device. Accessories and chargers will still be available for years. But if you’re in Europe and want to buy an iPhone 14 or SE, now’s the time to act before stocks run out. As of now, this regulation only affects Europe. But other regions could follow suit. If you’re considering upgrading your phone, it’s a good idea to keep these changes in mind. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended on Sunday the signing ceremony of a landmark agreement between Mansour Group and China’s SAIC Motor to establish a $135m automotive manufacturing plant in Egypt. The agreement includes a technical licensing deal to produce MG cars locally, as well as a land allocation contract for the factory site in New October City. The land agreement was signed between Mansour Group and the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, with the factory expected to span 126,000 square meters in the industrial zone of New October City. The project will be a major boost to Egypt’s automotive sector, aligning with the country’s strategy to localize vehicle manufacturing and increase local production capacity. Prime Minister Madbouly praised the initiative, emphasizing that the new factory would not only create jobs and promote technological transfer but also increase the local content of vehicles produced in Egypt. “This factory represents a significant step in implementing Egypt’s national strategy for the automotive industry, which aims to boost local production and foster sustainable growth,” he said. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir, and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib. Under the terms of the agreement, the Mansour Group plans to begin production in the second quarter of 2026. The initial output will be 50,000 units annually, with plans to scale up to 100,000 units in phase two of the project. Local content is expected to exceed 45%, a critical component of Egypt’s strategy to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen the domestic automotive supply chain. Al-Wazir highlighted the factory’s advanced capabilities, which will include a range of specialized units such as a body shop, a high-tech paint workshop, a general assembly line, and a comprehensive warehouse. The project will not only focus on car production but will also offer a range of transportation solutions, contributing to the broader automotive ecosystem. The factory will be equipped with modern facilities designed to meet international standards. Key infrastructure includes an 8,000-square-meter body shop, a 12,000-square-meter paint workshop, a 10,000-square-meter assembly workshop, and a utilities building. Additionally, the factory will feature a 5,000-square-meter warehouse. Mansour Group plans to create significant job opportunities, both directly at the factory and within the broader supply chain. The project is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting Egypt’s industrial development and the growth of its automotive sector, which has long been a cornerstone of the country’s economic diversification efforts. This strategic partnership between Mansour Group and SAIC Motor underscores the growing economic ties between Egypt and China, further solidifying Egypt’s position as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing.Ajyal fest a ‘beacon of hope’, says Saleh Bakri

Who won’t be CMCilantro is a top contender in both herb popularity rankings and . Culantro, on the other hand, well, some people don't even know what it is. Though they share some flavor qualities, culantro and cilantro aren't the same plant. Cilantro is coriander, an annual herb that grows best in cooler climates. Culantro is recao, a tropical biennial herb popular in Latin America, the Caribbean, and many Asian countries – particularly Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. It goes by a few other names: saw leaf herb, fitweed, ngò gai, and shado beni to name a few. It's easy enough to tell the two apart when you know what you're looking for, since they look virtually nothing alike. Visually, cilantro has small, paddle-shaped frilly leaves, while culantro has long leaves with spiky edges. Culantro also has a stronger, more pungent flavor than cilantro. Many describe it as having a citrusy zest, tasting like parsley and a touch of cilantro. For those who don't think eating cilantro is like chowing down on a bar of soap thanks to their genes (it was for that reason), it tastes refreshing and peppery, with a hint of parsley and lemon. The best ways to use culantro and cilantro Cilantro certainly seems like the more well-traveled herb, as it's difficult to get your hands on culantro if you don't have a specialty grocery store nearby. But both cilantro and culantro pack flavorful punches that work well in many dishes, making them each worth trying. Typically, you use cilantro in salads, soups, curries, salsas, and as a garnish. Culantro often stars in soups and sauces, but people also mix it into beans, rice, chutneys, marinades, and sofritos. Don't use it fresh like you would cilantro. Adding it to cooking meats, stews, and stocks like you would with onion or garlic is the best way to extract its flavor. As far as recipes go, this zingy is perfect for tossing on all your favorite sauce vehicles with reckless vigor — pizza, chicken wings, or tacos anyone? These feature cilantro in various components and have a juicy, savory oomph that'll leave your taste buds craving another bite before you're even through with your first. Meanwhile, culantro takes center stage in this , a savory and faintly fruity dish that makes use of the mild flavor of partially ripened mangoes. It also shines in this from St. Croix that checks all the boxes — it is savory, herbaceous, and has just a bit of kick expected of the island's cuisine. As long as you aren't cursed with the cilantro soap gene, you'll find either herb an absolute mealtime win. RecommendedTikToker teaching science hopes short-form video will become part of curriculum
