Indian billionaire Gautam Adani on Saturday said "attacks" on his company made it "stronger", days after US prosecutors accused him and other officials of fraud. The November 20 bombshell indictment in New York accused the industrialist and multiple subordinates of deliberately misleading international investors as part of a multi-million-dollar bribery scheme. Addressing the allegations for the first time, the 62-year-old tycoon said his conglomerate was committed to "world-class regulatory compliance". "What I can tell you is that every attack makes us stronger and every obstacle becomes a stepping stone for a more resilient Adani Group," he said at an awards ceremony in the northern Indian city of Jaipur. Adani is suspected of having participated in a $250 million scheme to bribe Indian officials for lucrative solar energy supply contracts. The billionaire, however, said nobody from his company had been charged with any violation of corruption laws or "any conspiracy to obstruct justice". The US Justice Department said Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and one other official were charged "with conspiracies to commit securities and wire fraud and substantive securities fraud". Five others were charged "with conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act," the department said. On Thursday, Adani's company said it had suffered a loss of nearly $55 billion in market capitalisation across its 11 listed companies since the US indictment was filed. With a business empire spanning coal, airports, cement and media, Adani Group has weathered previous corporate fraud allegations, suffering a similar stock rout last year. The conglomerate saw $150 billion wiped from its market value in 2023 after a report by short-seller Hindenburg Research accused it of "brazen" corporate fraud. Adani is a close ally of Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was at one point the world's second-richest man, and critics have long accused him of improperly benefitting from their relationship. ash/aha

David Courell has defended the FAI’s decision to hike the price of Ireland season tickets, insisting it still represents value. But while the chief executive confirmed FAI debt stands at €40m, he would prefer a favourable Word Cup draw for 2025 over seat-filling glamour dates with big nations. Those World Cup qualifiers form the bulk of Ireland’s matches in 2025, with the draw taking place in Switzerland on December 13. Read More: Significant Euro 2028 qualification boost for Ireland as path clears for finals spot Read More: Ireland fans face nightmare journey and ticket crunch as Bulgaria venue is confirmed Ireland will be in a four-team group which means the qualifiers won’t start until September and will conclude in November. In the meantime, Ireland play Bulgaria in a two-legged Nations League promotion-relegation playoff in March and will also have June friendlies. It’s unclear how many summer friendlies will be arranged, or who the opposition will be, but at least one game is expected to be in Dublin and part of the season ticket. Within the 2025 renewal increases, family season tickets have jumped from €460 to €600 and kids tickets have climbed to €100 from €80. Last month, the group representing supporters’ bodies in Irish football hit out at the hikes. And the ‘Irish Football Supporters Partnership’ also criticised a new system where 50% of the season ticket price was due before the World Cup draw was even made. Quizzed on the increases, FAI boss Courell said: “It would be remiss of me not to praise our fans who have been fantastic, probably the most loyal in the world. We haven’t always performed in recent years but they have stayed with us. We have the highest season ticket membership of any federation in Europe at 24,500 last year. We don’t take that for granted but equally there are costs associated with hosting games in this fantastic facility (Aviva Stadium).” Courell continued: “We have only increased ticket prices once (before this) in the last decade. It was merited that we had to increase our season ticket prices but we wanted to reward the loyalty of those fans so if they’re renewing there’s still amazing value there. You can still get an adult ticket for an average of €30 per game which I think we’d all recognise in this day and age in this country represents good value for money. “While no fan group anywhere in the world would ever countenance any price increases, I’m happy to see the interest in season tickets is in rude health. We’re now at over 20,000 sold already. While I understand there may be some disappointment, hopefully they can understand our cost base is increasing.” While Ireland will be in a small, four-team group for those World Cup qualifiers, there’s still scope to land heavyweight opposition. For the failed Euro 2024 bid under Stephen Kenny, Ireland were pitched into a group of death with kingpings France and Netherlands, joining Greece and Gibraltar. Asked if he would prefer glamour draws or winnable games in the World Cup campaign, Courell plumbed for the latter. “I think we have been unfortunate, particularly in the men’s team, but also recently in the women’s team, to be drawn in very difficult groups,” he said. “I would be very welcoming to taking a slightly easier path to the main tournament.” Meanwhile, Courell said any future contract talks with Ireland women’s boss Eileen Gleeson would be parked until after the upcoming Euro playoffs with Wales. And while he expressed satisfaction with men’s boss Hallgrimsson, there are no plans to initiate fresh contract talks with the Icelander’s deal covering the World Cup. Courell said: “Heimir has landed really well. I think his engagement with the team has been really positive. We’re in a really good place. We’ve got a great relationship with Heimir and I don’t see any reason why we would open those conversations earlier. We’re happy with the direction and the trajectory that we’re on but there’s no movement on the timeline.” Gleeson admitted last week that she wants to stay on as Ireland boss, but said talks were on hold for now. Asked about it, Courell said: “Our focus is on the next two games. Eileen has done a fantastic job and at the end of this campaign we’ll sit down and decide what’s next." MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa doesn't want to take chances with his family's safety, so the Miami Dolphins’ star quarterback hired personal security when one of his cars was broken into about a year ago. "(It was) a little too close for my comfort with my family being in the house,” Tagovailoa said Wednesday. “So we got personal security to take care of all of that. When we're on the road, we've got someone with my wife, got someone also at the house, surveying the house.” Tagovailoa, speaking days after the home of Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow while the Bengals were playing a Monday night game at Dallas, also noted his security is armed, "so I hope that if you decide to go to my house, you think twice.” Burrow's home was the latest targeted in a string of burglaries of pro athletes' homes in the U.S., which included the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Mahomes' and Kelce's homes were broken into in October, prompting the NFL to issue a security alert to teams and the players' union warning that the houses of numerous pro athletes were “increasingly targeted for burglaries by organized and skilled groups," according to a memo previously obtained by The Associated Press. Law enforcement officials noted these groups target the homes on days the athletes have games. Players were told to take precautions and implement home security measures to reduce the risk of being targeted. Tagovailoa's personal security has been in place since long before this string of break-ins. No one was injured in the Monday night break-in at Burrow's home, but it was ransacked, according to a report provided by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. , Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis had his home broken into Nov. 2 and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr.’s home was burglarized on Sept. 15 while he was at a Minnesota Vikings game. Portis had offered a $40,000 reward for information, and the NBA later issued its own memo revealing that the FBI has connected some burglaries to “transnational South American Theft Groups” that are “reportedly well-organized, sophisticated rings that incorporate advanced techniques and technologies, including pre-surveillance, drones, and signal jamming devices.” Some of the groups have conducted extensive surveillance on targets, including attempted home deliveries and posing as grounds maintenance or joggers in the neighborhood, according to officials. Tagovailoa, who just signed an extension with the Dolphins last offseason, said he doesn't necessarily feel like a target, "but I wouldn't want to play the chances with my family and kids sleeping, my wife sleeping, me sleeping at the house.” AP NFL:The NFL could see its second snow game of the 2024 season this Sunday in Buffalo. Last Thursday's Browns-Steelers game featured heavy snow in the second half and it made for some awesome plays and great photos. This Sunday's 49ers-Bills game in Orchard Park could also see some snow, which would favor the Bills since they're used to playing in the cold while the 49ers aren't. This news has NFL fans fired up since snow games are so fun to watch. Bills/IG "Six inches of snow is common in Buffalo (so meh whatever unimpressed), but nothing beats the magic of snow globe football here—it’s as romantic as it is beautiful. Pretty sure I went on a long rant on air about my love of snow globe football in Buffalo with @dandakich once," one tweet read . "Tired of the people wanting domes for every stadium. FOOTBALL WEATHER really is any inclement weather and is an integral part of the game and its history. Some of the most magical moments happened in inclement weather Hot take: We need less dome stadiums," another tweet read . "A reminder, football fundamentally changes at Thanksgiving, let’s do this thing," another tweet read . "Snow games are good when your team isn’t playing in it," another tweet read . The exact snow forecast will continue to get refined since we're still four days away from this game taking place. It's a big one for the 49ers since they have a 5-6 record and need a win to stay alive in the NFC playoff race. Meanwhile, the Bills are trying to keep pace with the Chiefs for the No. 1 spot in the AFC. Kickoff will be at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. The group is set to spend $838.8 million to acquire Holcim’s stake in Lafarge Africa. It also estimated the enterprise value of Lafarge Africa to be between $1.06 billion and $1.59 billion. Also, the firm estimated the replacement value of Lafarge Africa’s assets to be $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion, with an enterprise value of $1.057 billion. The Chinese firm used an alternative valuation approach by multiplying Lafarge Africa’s 2023 EBITDA of $151 million by a factor of seven, resulting in an enterprise value of $1.057 billion. Lafarge Africa stated that the acquisition aligns with Huaxin’s overseas expansion plan, focusing on leveraging its expertise in industrial technology and production chain integration to drive growth. Contact: Chris Calabrese LifeSci Advisors, LLC ccalabrese@lifesciadvisors.com 917-680-5608WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump said Saturday that he will nominate former White House aide Brooke Rollins to be his agriculture secretary, the last of his picks to lead executive agencies and another choice from within his established circle of advisers and allies. The nomination must be confirmed by the Senate, which will be controlled by Republicans when Trump takes office Jan. 20. Rollins would succeed Tom Vilsack , President Joe Biden’s agriculture secretary who oversees the sprawling agency that controls policies, regulations and aid programs related to farming, forestry, ranching, food quality and nutrition. Rollins, who graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in agricultural development, is a longtime Trump associate who served as White House domestic policy chief during his first presidency. The 52-year-old is president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute, a group helping to lay the groundwork for a second Trump administration. Rollins previously served as an aide to former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and ran a think tank, the Texas Public Policy Foundation. The pick completes Trump’s selection of the heads of executive branch departments, just two and a half weeks after the former president won the White House once again. Several other picks that are traditionally Cabinet-level remain, including U.S. Trade Representative and head of the small business administration. Rollins, speaking on the Christian talk show “Family Talk" earlier this year, said Trump was an “amazing boss” and confessed that she thought in 2015, during his first presidential campaign, that he would not last as a candidate in a crowded Republican primary field. “I was the person that said, ‘Oh, Donald Trump is not going to go more than two or three weeks in the Republican primary. This is to up his TV show ratings. And then we’ll get back to normal,’” she said. “Fast forward a couple of years, and I am running his domestic policy agenda.” Trump didn’t offer many specifics about his agriculture policies during the campaign, but farmers could be affected if he carries out his pledge to impose widespread tariffs. During the first Trump administration, countries like China responded to Trump’s tariffs by imposing retaliatory tariffs on U.S. exports like the corn and soybeans routinely sold overseas. Trump countered by offering massive multibillion-dollar aid to farmers to help them weather the trade war. President Abraham Lincoln founded the USDA in 1862, when about half of all Americans lived on farms. The USDA oversees multiple support programs for farmers; animal and plant health; and the safety of meat, poultry and eggs that anchor the nation’s food supply. Its federal nutrition programs provide food to low-income people, pregnant women and young children. And the agency sets standards for school meals. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, has vowed to strip ultraprocessed foods from school lunches and to stop allowing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries from using food stamps to buy soda, candy or other so-called junk foods. But it would be the USDA, not HHS, that would be responsible for enacting those changes. In addition, HHS and USDA will work together to finalize the 2025-2030 edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. They are due late next year, with guidance for healthy diets and standards for federal nutrition programs. Gomez Licon reported from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Associated Press writers Josh Funk and JoNel Aleccia contributed to this report.

Projectors are for the most part expensive, even the small, portable ones that you can move from room to room or take outdoors for a backyard movie night. That’s why the Black Friday deals season is the best time to shop for a new projector, whether it’s one of the best 4K projectors or one of the best portable projectors . I’ve been digging through the projector deals before Black Friday and am finding great discounts on some of the best projectors right now. The three Black Friday deals that I’m most excited about are all for compact portable models, leading is the LG CineBeam Q for $799 (was $1,299) at LG . The CineBeam Q is a 4K portable projector, and LG is bundling it with its XBoom wireless speaker ($199.99 value) and CineBeam Q stand ($99.99 value) as part of its Black Friday deal. Is $799 still too rich for your budget? Samsung’s great The Freestyle 2nd Gen portable projector is getting a $200 price cut to $599 at Best Buy. Need a more robust, battery-powered projector to take on outdoor excursions? The Anker Nebula Mars 3 is now just $799, a 24% discount off its regular price. See details on these three below. Today's best projector deals This fantastic Black Friday deal knocks $500 off the LG CineBeam Q portable projector. LG also bundles its XBoom wireless speaker ($199.99 value) and CineBeam Q stand ($99.99 value), making this a deal not to miss. We loved this portable projector in our LG CineBeam Q review , citing its accurate picture quality and excellent webOS streaming interface, and it can now be yours in this Black Friday bundle. Samsung's portable projector is one of the most innovative we've seen, and it's now selling for its lowest-ever price at Best Buy. Portables are great for outdoor movie nights but can also be set up anywhere you want to get a big 100-inch HD-res image. The Freestyle leads our list of the best portable projectors , so this is a deal we can enthusiastically recommend. The Anker Nebula Mars 3 is getting a very welcome 24% discount in this Amazon Black Friday deal. In our Nebula Mars 3 review , we admired its robust build quality and bright picture. Its built-in battery can also last for 2.5 hours at full brightness, making it the ideal portable for outdoor movie nights. While it’s true that Amazon is filled with cheap projectors , it’s also true that the vast majority of these aren’t any good. The three projectors above are ones that TechRadar has properly tested, and we can vouch for their quality – and for these being great Black Friday deals. In our LG CineBeam Q review , we loved its reasonably bright (for a portable) 4K image, which also had excellent color accuracy courtesy of its RGB laser light engine. Two things we didn’t love about it were the relatively high price and the weak built-in sound. Both of those shortcomings are addressed in LG’s Black Friday bundle deal, which knocks $500 off the CineBeam Q’s price and tosses in a free speaker to link with its Bluetooth wireless audio output for improved sound. When we reviewed the Samsung The Freestyle 2nd Gen , we were taken with its versatility and innovative design. This is another projector that seems a bit expensive at full price, so Best Buy’s $200 Black Friday deal makes it much more worthy of consideration. In our Anker Nebula Mars 3 review , we also tripped a bit on its price while admiring its very bright picture (again, for a portable projector) and excellent 2.5-hour battery life – enough to last for an entire movie and then some. If you want a great projector for summer backyard nights or camping trips, the Nebula Mars 3 is the ticket.
