Plenty of investors hold large quantities of ( ) shares in their portfolios. Woolworths is one of the larger ASX shares, after all. However, there could be better with stronger growth prospects to own right now. Buying shares in retail businesses can be a great way to tap into consumer trends and pick out stocks that can benefit from the economy's recovery. However, many households are struggling right now due to and high . I think a good time to invest in ASX retail shares is during tough retail conditions when share prices are depressed rather than once retail conditions improve. Considering the current opportunities and share prices, here's why I think the following companies are buys. Shaver Shop Group Ltd ( ) Shaver Shop is one of the leading retailers of personal grooming products, including electric shavers, clippers, trimmers, and wet shave items. It also offers a range of other products, including oral care, hair care, massage, air treatment, and beauty categories. In my view, this business has fairly defensive earnings because consumers always need these products. Shaver Shop has exclusive agreements with some shaver brands, which allows the company to provide desired products to consumers and achieve a higher . I think the ASX retail share can grow its profit in the longer term by opening more stores, expanding its online stores, working with more brands, being more efficient throughout the business, and expanding its product range. Based on the company's FY24 numbers, the ASX retail share is trading on a of 11, with a grossed-up of 11%, including . These are attractive statistics, in my view. Temple & Webster Group Ltd ( ) I think Temple & Webster is an exciting ASX retail share because of its rapid growth and online-only presence. The company benefits from the fact that Millennials and Generation Z are reaching the higher-spending stages of their lives. These consumers are also more likely to shop online, so Temple & Webster can benefit as more Aussies adopt online shopping. Temple & Webster is a very scalable business, in my opinion. Many of its products are shipped directly by suppliers, so the ASX share doesn't need to carry the inventory. This gives the business a capital-light model, allowing it to generate pleasing . The ASX retail share is implementing technology throughout its operations, including AI running the online chat interactions, which helps to lower costs and increase conversion. As the business gets larger, it expects its profit margins to increase, partly thanks to its fixed costs being spread across more sales. Temple & Webster continues to grow revenue at a strong pace. Between 1 July and 24 October this year, its FY25 revenue soared another 21%. Around 60% of orders are now from repeat customers.Following a three-year ( three months!) wait, another season of Netflix’s has come and gone. In a significant move to enhance technological capabilities, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), supported by Ministry of Economy, signed a cooperation agreement with World Economic Forum (WEF) on Monday to establish a centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies in Oman. The centre will be the sixth of its kind in the Middle East and the 22nd globally aimed at advancing technological innovations that benefit the development and production sectors. The centre is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2025. The agreement was signed by H E Dr Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at MTCIT, and Sebastian Buckup, Head of Network and Partnerships and Member of Executive Committee of WEF. The agreement aims to accelerate adoption of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in line with international standards and frameworks, while benefiting from the global network of digital experts at WEF. Additionally, the agreement seeks to launch initiatives that bring together stakeholders from various sectors – government, business and academia – to discuss and collaborate on the development of shared policies. Furthermore, the agreement will help create an environment to test governance principles, and policy and regulatory frameworks, aimed at mitigating risks associated with 4IR technologies. It will also contribute to guiding WEF’s activities in various areas of 4IR technology by actively participating in the forum’s platforms, launching an expertise exchange programme between the two parties, and engaging in the forum’s 4IR community. H E Shidhani emphasised the significance of the agreement, saying, “This cooperation reflects the sultanate’s commitment to adopting the latest innovations and advanced technologies to drive sustainable development and achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040. This initiative is also part of our ongoing efforts to transfer knowledge, localise technology, and strengthen Oman’s position as a regional hub for technology and innovation.” He added that the agreement will open new avenues for cooperation in key areas, with the first phase focusing on enhancing technical innovation. “Through this partnership, we aim to apply AI and advanced technologies in alignment with the initiatives and projects of the National Digital Economy Programme.” On his part, Buckup said, “We are delighted to establish this centre in Oman. Undoubtedly, the presence of this centre will facilitate close collaboration on numerous projects that promote digital innovation and sustainable digital solutions to address existing challenges across various fields.”Conor Coady turned away in frustration and Ruud van Nistelrooy wore a look of disappointment as Erling Haaland put Manchester City 2-0 up at the King Power Stadium. Another promising Leicester City display would bring no points. They created enough chances to equalise, but failed to take them as they fell to an 11th league defeat and fourth in succession. Advertisement Van Nistelrooy’s side have shown progress since his arrival as Steve Cooper’s replacement earlier this month and there were plenty of positives to take from their offensive performance on Sunday. But that progress — and Leicester’s status as a Premier League side — are at risk of being undermined by a defence that just cannot stop conceding. Defensive fragility is not new to this Leicester team, who have kept just two clean sheets in their last 42 Premier League matches when the end of their 2022-23 relegation season is included. They have conceded 42 goals in 19 games this season (the joint-worst record along with Wolverhampton Wanderers ), including 23 in 12 games under Cooper, and 15 in six under Van Nistelrooy. The Dutchman was in the stands as interim manager Ben Dawson took charge of the 4-1 defeat at Brentford. In those six games, Leicester have already conceded 20 or more shots twice, including 31 in his debut against West Ham United (a 3-1 win) and 27 in a 4-0 defeat by Newcastle United . Opponents have created an average xG (expected goals, a measure of how many goals a team is expected to score based on the quality of chances created) of 2.2. Leicester’s attack, which created opportunities against both Liverpool and Manchester City, has seen them average less than 1 xG per game (5.8 across six matches). Sunday’s match indicated there is potential for the attack to improve. Jamie Vardy was trapped offside twice in promising situations and forced a save from Stefan Ortega , and Facundo Buonanotte hit the post while James Justin forced a goalline clearance and Vardy put Leicester’s best chance over the bar. But those misses and Manchester City’s goals turned the focus back towards a greater problem — individual errors. Jakub Stolarczyk — playing his second Premier League match in a row in place of Mads Hermansen , who injured his groin against Newcastle, and ahead of Danny Ward — palmed Phil Foden ’s shot straight into the path of Savinho for the first goal while Coady and Boubakary Soumare failed to see Haaland run into the space they left behind to head home. This has become a theme under Van Nistelrooy. Across his six matches in charge, they have made four errors leading to shots and three errors leading to goals after recording five and two in Cooper’s 12 league games. In the defeat at Newcastle, Alexander Isak benefited from Coady’s awkward attempt to clear while Rodrigo Gomes took advantage of Justin’s misjudgement of a routine cross in the 3-0 defeat by Wolves. These numbers do not include Leicester’s failure to mark Haaland adequately against Manchester City nor Niclas Fullkrug against West Ham, nor their slowness to react to situations such as the corner routine that led to Jacob Murphy ’s opener for Newcastle. Advertisement Van Nistelrooy addressed the errors after Sunday’s game. “After the Wolves match, I referred to structural mistakes or individual mistakes – this is something we have to separate. “I think Jakub had a fantastic (home) debut in a great game, so credit for him, but he is not happy with the first goal. (It is) something we have to accept, and it will happen, but we have to reduce these moments to stay in the game or take the lead,” he said, adding that he felt their performance merited a better result. There is a case to be made for errors emanating from Leicester adapting to Van Nistelrooy’s style, similar to Enzo Maresca’s early months in charge in their Championship-winning season. But the margin for error was far smaller to begin this season than the last given the quality of opposition in the top tier, and only reduces with every defeat, especially with the potential implications that relegation could have on the team’s finances. GO DEEPER How Leicester avoided a points deduction - and what it means for PSR Wolves, who drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, sit only two points clear of Leicester in 18th, but are unbeaten in three games under Vitor Pereira, keeping clean sheets against Leicester and Manchester United . Prior to their 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 16th-placed Everton drew with Chelsea , Arsenal and Manchester City, conceding just once, in their toughest stretch of the season. For Leicester to move out of the relegation zone in 2025, which begins with a daunting visit to Aston Villa before Crystal Palace and Fulham visit the King Power Stadium, Van Nistelrooy will need to reduce his team’s errors, especially in defence. DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos signed left tackle Garett Bolles to a four-year extension on Thursday, locking up a big piece to protect rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Bolles has spent his entire career with the organization after being drafted out of Utah with the 20th overall pick in 2017. He has a chance this season to help the Broncos into the postseason for the first time since they won Super Bowl 50 after the 2015 season. The Broncos (8-5) are currently in the seventh and final playoff spot in the AFC. They can put some distance between them and Indianapolis on Sunday (6-7) with a win over the Colts. After an up-and-down start in Denver, Bolles has developed into a dependable pass protector. He's allowed one sack and 24 quarterback pressures over 13 starts this season. What's more, his 4.9 percent quarterback pressure rate is the second-lowest mark among tackles with at least 200 pass blocking snaps this season, according to NextGen Stats. With time to scan the field, Nix leads all rookies in completions (277), yards passing (2,842), offensive touchdowns (22) and passing touchdowns (17). Bolles earned second-team Associated Press All-Pro honors after the 2020 season. On social media , Bolles posted: “Broncos Country, It’s been a great 8 years! Thanks for everything! And ... I’m not leaving. The show goes on!” Since 2017, Bolles has allowed the sixth-fewest sacks (36) among tackles with at least 3,100 snaps. The extension of Bolles means the Broncos have all five starting offensive linemen on board through next season. Guard Quinn Meinerz agreed to four-year contract extension in July. The Broncos also signed cornerback Patrick Surtain II to a four-year contract extension in September worth $96 million, including $77.5 million in guarantees. Linebacker Jonathon Cooper agreed to a four-year, $60 million extension in November.
