Actor Keanu Reeves has said he joined the cast of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 as he is “a big fan” of the series. Reeves, 60, plays Shadow in the latest film adaption of the Sega video game, which will see Sonic, Knuckles and Tails battle him to protect the planet. Speaking at the movie’s London premiere on Tuesday, the Canadian star said: “I’m a big fan, I mean, I really enjoyed the first two films. “I really liked the character of Shadow, so I was really excited to try to be a part of it.” The Matrix actor went on to speak about the differences between voice acting and appearing on screen. He added: “It’s fun to play pretend, I love acting, so it’s fun to try and inhabit another character. “There’s an intensity to doing voice work and specificity, it’s kind of more like doing, it’s its own thing, because it’s kind of like theatre, but no audience. “So it’s like doing radio, and it’s just fun.” Canadian-American actor Jim Carrey co-stars as villain Doctor Eggman, a role he told the PA news agency it was “great” to be playing again. Carrey told PA: “I do like to play a character filled with disdain here and there, the Grinch was that. “But there were other characters like The Truman Show, he’s somebody who loves the world and believes in the world, and believes in the people in his life, and believes in his neighbours, and he’s just a good-hearted soul that finds out there’s something more in the world than what he knows and something beyond his own neighbourhood. “So it’s a lovely story, but they’re all different characters, they all have different desires, and you have to do something special with each one.” He added: “I just let it rip when they say action, it’s just a perfect excuse to be an obstreperous bloviating bag of ill will. “And then of course they say cut, and all of that horrible politeness and needing to be loved seeps back in.” Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will be released in UK cinemas on Friday December 20.Revival of negotiations
Airline passenger satisfaction remained high and stable this year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), though the association suggested investing more in technology to meet customer demand. IATA collected more than 10,000 responses from 200 countries to compile its Global Passenger Survey 2024. The survey revealed passenger satisfaction for flying was 82% in 2024, the same rate as last year, but an improvement from 75% recorded in 2019. Nick Careen, senior vice-president of operations, safety and security at IATA, said bookings, check-in and arrivals achieved a solid approval rating of more than 80% because of improvements in digitalisation, while the satisfaction rates for border controls and baggage collection were less than 66%, attributed to long queues. Mr Careen said the satisfaction rate ought to surpass 90% once the entire end-to-end journey -- from booking to boarding -- becomes fully digitalised. Only 46% of respondents used a biometric process at an airport in 2024. The survey found speed and convenience remained the top priorities for passengers. Border controls could be improved by streamlining the visa process before the passenger reaches the airport, while a baggage delivery service should be made available prior to a passenger's arrival at the airport, according to IATA. In terms of investing to improve the passenger experience, he said airlines report a low net profit margin of US$6.14 per passenger, causing budgets for technology investment to be more limited than aircraft investment -- typically a carrier's biggest expense -- as well as the budget for staff expenses. However, Mr Careen said airlines will continue to invest in technology if there is clear demand from customers and a return on investment. Government regulations are needed to provide support to the sector, he said. One example that illustrates the improvements made over the past decade is passengers can now pass through security without any interaction with the airline, as check-in can be carried out remotely if a passenger only has carry-on luggage. The survey also found Generation Z are willing to use technology to improve their travel experience, much more than the poll average. Some 51% of passengers younger than 25 prefer to use a digital wallet for payment, compared with a total survey average of 21%. In addition, 50% of Gen Z respondents want to utilise a biometric process, assuming the data is secure, greater than the total survey average of 39%. Mr Careen said advancements in biometrics and digital processes will eventually reduce costs for passengers in the future, allowing airlines to better tailor the customer experience. NoneThe winter session of Parliament had a stormy start on Monday with both Houses adjourning for the day without conducting any substantial business as the Opposition pressed for a discussion on the indictment of business tycoon Gautam Adani by the US authorities in an alleged bribery case . The day's proceedings began in Lok Sabha with obituary references. The Speaker adjourned the House for an hour. When the House reassembled at 12 noon, the Opposition MPs marched into the well of the House demanding constitution of a joint parliamentary committee to investigate the US Indictment of Adani. Earlier, Congress chief whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore had moved an adjournment motion to discuss the indictment. This was rejected. The House was adjourned for the day within a minute. In the Rajya Sabha, soon after Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar finished with the birthday greetings and the House had paid respects to members who passed away recently, the Opposition raised the Adani issue which was disallowed by the Chair. Opposition members had given notices under Rule 267 for suspension of listed business to take up the Adani issue, violence in Manipur and the death of protestors in Sambal, Uttar Pradesh in the Jama Masjid survey matter. Dhankhar dismissed the notices. The Opposition members were on their feet to press for their demands.
