The BJP won 7 out of 9 bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, results of which were announced on Saturday, Reacting to wins, state Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed confidence that the the party would return to power after the next Assembly elections. Lucknow: With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning seven of nine polls in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, state’s Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya hailed the victory of the party and expressed confidence that the party will form the government in the next Assembly elections. Calling is an historic win the deputy chief minister also took a dig at the Samajwadi Party and said the Akhilesh Yadav-led party’s ‘game is over’. “This is a historic victory and it is a strong foundation for 2027. The BJP government will be formed for the third time in Uttar Pradesh. SP’s game is over .”, news agency ANI quoted him as saying further. Win in by-polls a massive boost for BJP in UP With today’s win in 7 Assembly seats, the party has regained lots of confidence, mainly after the lower-than-expected performance in the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year. In the Lok Sabha polls held earlier this year, the party won 33 seats while the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats from the state. There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Karhal and Sishamau were the only two Assembly constituencies from where the Samajwadi Party (SP) won. Even as UP by-poll results are a massive boost for the BJP in the state, the results, have no significance as far as the state government is concerned as CM Yogi Adityanath -led BJP Government is already running a stable government. Adityanath reached BJP office even before results were announced Earlier in the day, even as results were being announced a confident Adityanath reached the UP BJP office in Lucknow to reiterate the importance of “ek hain toh safe hain” and “batenge toh katenge” slogans. NBC Sports Bet Best Bet Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) likes OG Anunoby to go Over his 15.5 points prop against the Utah Jazz: “In 11 games this month, Anunoby scored at least 15 points in eight out of those contests and 16-plus in seven games. The Knicks’ forward averages 19.4 points per game on the month and 36.6 minutes per game. OG’s shooting 51/40/83 splits on the month and is in a good spot after only taking seven field goal attempts in his last outing. In the two times that he had less than 10 field goal attempts, OG bounced back with 21 and 14 points on 8-of-15 and 6-of-12 from the field in the following games. Utah is a soft matchup for OG to exploit and with Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns as the two of the top most bet players on the slate, I like taking a shot on the third-leading scorer for New York.” Here are the best bets our model is projecting for the Knicks and the Jazz: · Moneyline : NBC Sports finds confidence in taking New York on the ML (-360) · Spread : NBC Sports has strong confidence in New York -8.5 on the spread · Total : NBC Sports has low confidence towards a play on the Total UNDER 232.5 points Want even more NBA best bets and predictions from our expert staff & tools? In their final fixture of 2024, Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game midway through the opening period. Arsenal’s victory takes them back to within six points of leaders Liverpool, having played one match more than the Reds, and a point clear of Chelsea following their Boxing Day defeat to Fulham. Ipswich, although much improved in the second half, have now lost five of their last six games, and remain just one place off the bottom of the table, three points away from safety. 🎯 pic.twitter.com/hDd5bkHwXr — Arsenal (@Arsenal) December 27, 2024 Mikel Arteta’s men have been rocked by Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury which could keep the England winger, who has nine goals and 13 assists this season, out of action for the next two months. Gabriel Martinelli was handed the unenviable task of filling Saka’s shoes on Arsenal’s right-hand side and the Brazilian was involved in the only goal of the evening. The Ipswich defence failed to deal with Martinelli’s cross, with the ball falling to Leandro Trossard on the opposite side of the area. Trossard fought his way to the byline before fizzing his cross into the box for Havertz to convert from a matter of yards. It was Havertz’s third goal in four matches, his 12th of the season, and no less than the hosts, who at that stage of the match had enjoyed a staggering 91.4 per cent of the possession, deserved. Heading into Friday’s fixture, Arsenal had lost only one of their last 75 Premier League games when they had opened the scoring, and their triumph here rarely looked in doubt following Havertz’s strike. Three points that take Arsenal into second 🪜 #ARSIPS pic.twitter.com/Dx3s6XlwQ2 — Premier League (@premierleague) December 27, 2024 Havertz thought he had doubled Arsenal’s lead with 34 minutes gone when he converted Gabriel Jesus’ cross. But Jesus – handed his third successive start for the first time in a year – strayed into an offside position in the build-up. When referee Darren England blew for half-time, Ipswich had failed to touch the ball in Arsenal’s box, becoming just the second side to do so in the Premier League this season. Nottingham Forest were the other, away at Liverpool, before they went on to inflict Arne Slot’s sole defeat of his tenure so far. And for all of Arsenal’s possession, while they held just a one-goal advantage, Ipswich knew they were still in the game. An encouraging start to the second half for the Tractor Boys ensued, albeit without testing David Raya in the Arsenal goal. Shortly after the hour mark, Gabriel should have settled any growing Emirates nerves when he arrived unmarked to Declan Rice’s corner, but the defender headed wide of Arijanet Muric’s post when it looked easier to score. Just over an hour on the clock. #ARSIPS pic.twitter.com/JXNipX1J1Z — IPSWICH TOWN (@IpswichTown) December 27, 2024 Martin Odegaard then forced a fine fingertip save from Muric at his near post after a mazy run and shot from the Arsenal skipper. Rice’s stinging goal-bound volley from the following corner was blocked by Dara O’Shea as Arsenal pushed for a game-killing second. Havertz should have tapped home Trossard’s header but he fluffed his lines. And moments later, substitute Mikel Merino’s effort was diverted from danger by a diving Muric. Ipswich looked to catch Arsenal on the counter, but the match ended without them registering a single effort on Raya’s goal. Ipswich fans goaded their opponents with chants of “boring, boring Arsenal”, but it was the Gunners who enjoyed the last laugh as they saw out 2024 with a win which keeps the pressure on Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola has insisted Erling Haaland alone is not responsible for Manchester City’s dramatic collapse in form this season. The Premier League champions, on a unprecedented run of four successive English titles, saw their campaign go from bad to worse with a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa on Saturday - their ninth defeat in 12 matches in all competitions. The reverse also marked previously prolific striker Haaland’s fifth game without a goal in six matches. After the game, the Norway international told TNT Sports: “First I’m looking at myself. I haven’t been scoring my chances. I have to do better, I haven’t been good enough.” City manager Guardiola subsequently defended Haaland, who has scored 108 times for the club since joining in 2022 by saying that “without him we will be even worse” and that “he needs to be delivered the right balls in the right spots”. Guardiola stuck to his theme on Tuesday during a pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s Boxing Day match at home to Everton. “It’s about us, not just one player,” he said. “When in the past we score goals and Erling was so prolific, helping us, it was because of the team. “And when you have problems at the back, in the middle, it is for everyone, it is a team, it is not about one player. It would be easy, if it was just one player, the reason why. It’s not about that.” The Catalan boss added: “Erling is so important for us, will be so important for us, has been. (We have to) try to do things better, to use him better. In this situation, this tendency for all of us (is to say) ‘the reason why is this one, and this one and this one’. It’s about us, about everyone. “The guys are running, making effort more than ever. All the tendency ‘it’s because we don’t run, because we don’t fight, the reason why is this situation or this player or this manager’... It’s not about that. “It’s many little details or big details that make all together not as good as we were. But we have another opportunity on Boxing Day.” Related Story EAA signs pacts to empower youth in Qatar, Palestine Monoprix launches sensory friendly hours at Doha Festival City outletDaily Post Nigeria An kama jigon NNPP a jihar Borno Home News Politics Metro Entertainment Sport Hausa An kama jigon NNPP a jihar Borno Published on December 24, 2024 By Kabeer Bello Rundunar ‘Yan Sandan Jihar Borno ta kama wani jigo a jam’iyyar New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Atom Magira, bisa zargin sa da sukar Gwamna Babagana Zulum. Luigi Mangione, 26, was shackled and seated in a Manhattan court when he leaned over to a microphone to enter his plea. The Manhattan district attorney charged him last week with multiple counts of murder, including murder as an act of terrorism . Mangione's initial appearance in New York’s state trial court was preempted by federal prosecutors bringing their own charges over the shooting. The federal charges could carry the possibility of the death penalty, while the maximum sentence for the state charges is life in prison without parole. Prosecutors have said the two cases will proceed on parallel tracks , with the state charges expected to go to trial first. One of Mangione’s attorneys told a judge that the “warring jurisdictions" had turned Mangione into a “human ping-pong ball” and that New York City Mayor Eric Adams and other government officials had made him a political pawn, robbing him of his rights as a defendant and tainting the jury pool. “I am very concerned about my client’s right to a fair trial,” lawyer Karen Friedman Agnifilo said. Adams and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stood among a throng of heavily armed officers last Thursday when Mangione was flown to a Manhattan heliport and escorted up a pier after being extradited from Pennsylvania. Friedman Agnifilo said police turned Mangione’s return to New York into a choreographed spectacle. She called out Adams' comment to a local TV station that he wanted to be there to look “him in the eye and say, ‘you carried out this terroristic act in my city.’” “He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest stage perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career. It was absolutely unnecessary,” she said. She also accused federal and state prosecutors of advancing conflicting legal theories, calling their approach confusing and highly unusual. In a statement, Adams spokesperson Kayla Mamelak Altus wrote: “Critics can say all they want, but showing up to support our law enforcement and sending the message to New Yorkers that violence and vitriol have no place in our city is who Mayor Eric Adams is to his core.” “The cold-blooded assassination of Brian Thompson — a father of two — and the terror it infused on the streets of New York City for days has since been sickeningly glorified, shining a spotlight on the darkest corners of the internet,” Mamelak Altus said. State trial court Judge Gregory Carro said he has little control over what happens outside the courtroom, but can guarantee Mangione will receive a fair trial. Authorities say Mangione gunned down Thompson as he was walking to an investor conference in midtown Manhattan on the morning of Dec 4. Mangione was arrested in a Pennsylvania McDonald’s after a five-day search, carrying a gun that matched the one used in the shooting and a fake ID, police said. He also was carrying a notebook expressing hostility toward the health insurance industry and especially wealthy executives, according to federal prosecutors. At a news conference last week, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said the application of the terrorism law reflected the severity of a “frightening, well-planned, targeted murder that was intended to cause shock and attention and intimidation.” “In its most basic terms, this was a killing that was intended to evoke terror,” he added. Mangione is being held in a Brooklyn federal jail alongside several other high-profile defendants, including Sean “Diddy” Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried. During his court appearance Monday, he smiled at times when talking with his attorneys and stretched his right hand after an officer removed his cuffs. Outside the courthouse, a few dozen supporters chanted, “Free Luigi,” over the blare of a trumpet. Natalie Monarrez, a 55-year-old Staten Island resident, said she joined the demonstration because she lost both her mother and her life savings as a result of denied insurance claims. “As extreme as it was, it jolted the conversation that we need to deal with this issue,” she said of the shooting. “Enough is enough, people are fed up.” An Ivy-league graduate from a prominent Maryland family, Mangione appeared to have cut himself off from family and friends in recent months. He posted frequently in online forums about his struggles with back pain. He was never a UnitedHealthcare client , according to the insurer. Thompson, a married father of two high-schoolers, had worked at the giant UnitedHealth Group for 20 years and became CEO of its insurance arm in 2021. The killing has prompted some to voice their resentment at U.S. health insurers, with Mangione serving as a stand-in for frustrations over coverage denials and hefty medical bills. It also has sent shockwaves through the corporate world , rattling executives who say they have received a spike in threats.Norma Jean Telling Beach
