NoneThe Detroit Lions revoked the season tickets of the fan who got into a verbal altercation with Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur during last week’s Thursday Night Football game . Per the Detroit News Fahad Yousif said the Lions informed him of the decision via email. The altercation happened when Yousif was on the field before the game to hold part of the oversized flag during the national anthem. “The biggest gut punch, man,” Yousif said, per Pro Football Talk . “Just waking up and seeing that email and not being able to talk to somebody in person, it was a terrible feeling. I don’t have my chance to give my side of the story or anything.” Before halftime, officials asked Yousif to leave. He said he “got caught up” in the moment and was “devastated” by the team’s decision. Yousif admitted that the incident “definitely could have been avoided” on his end. After the altercation, LaFleur explained what happened , calling the fan “arrogant” and saying he’d never seen anything like it during his time coaching. “You know, you’re trying to de-escalate it, and then he gets in my face,” LaFleur said, via WXYZ Detroit . “I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike. I’ve never seen that. I’ve been on many fields, and usually they police that much better. Matt LaFleur is moving forward as the Packers face the Seahawks “I thought it was an arrogant fan that wanted to get part of the action. I would like to see security, or something step in there and get him out of there because he shouldn’t be doing that.” The Packers fell to the Lions 34-31 to drop to 9-4 on the year. They are in a good spot when it comes to the playoff picture, but it’s unlikely they will win the NFC North since they are three games behind the Lions with four games remaining in the season. Green Bay has to move forward because the Seattle Seahawks are up next and they have won their last four games. “They’re going to throw a lot of different things at you,” LaFleur said of the Seahawks’ defense, per Packers.com . “You’ve got to be ready to adjust to them.” This article first appeared on 5 GOATs and was syndicated with permission.

Apple has "healthier" plans for its AirPods. While the tech major has already made clear that they are not just an audio device (the second-generation AirPods can be used as hearing aids), it is planning to integrate more health features into them. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the third-generation device —rumoured to be called AirPods Pro 3 — could be used for heart rate monitoring, as a temperature sensor, and tracking various physiological aspects. While still in "early development," Gurman acknowledged that heart rate monitoring may be included in AirPods Pro 3. They are anticipated to arrive in 2025, so the health features may get a reveal sometime soon. While the ability for the AirPods to track a user's heart rate is one of Apple's challenges, the other presumably would be how another health tracking gadget will add to the company's repertoire of health devices. The iPhone and Apple Watch already have health monitoring features, and Gurman mentioned that users who wish to track heart rate may not have to look at the Apple Watch. How Apple integrates the AirPods into its health tech ecosystem while sustaining the relevance of all devices remains to be seen. AirPods Pro 3 might also be the first audio product from the company’s stable to use Apple Intelligence. The future AirPods could have built-in cameras that could “be used to capture data that would be processed by AI and assist people in their daily routines.” The cameras will allow Apple Intelligence to visually comprehend the surroundings, similar to Apple’s recently unveiled Visual Intelligence feature in the iPhone 16 series. Apple may install a new H3 chip in the AirPods Pro 3 to power Apple Intelligence. This could allow for other capabilities, including health-related ones. Along with hearing assistance capabilities of the AirPods Pro 2, the updated device could include a new temperature sensor for more precise body temperature readings and other health sensors. The company is also anticipated to make the current audio capabilities of the AirPods, including adaptive transparency and noise reduction, even better. Though temperatures have already started to drop in some parts of the country, winter doesn't officially begin until mid-December. Here's what to know about the winter solstice, the astronomical start to the snowy season and the shortest day of the year. 24/7 San Diego news stream: Watch NBC 7 free wherever you are What is the winter solstice? The winter solstice marks the beginning of astronomical winter. It's different from the beginning of the meteorological winter, which is based on our 12-month calendar. To answer this question more completely, let's go back to middle school science class for a minute. The Earth rotates in two primary ways: first, it moves in a big circle around the sun; second, it spins around an axis like a top, creating day and night. That axis is tilted on a slight angle, causing the Northern and Southern hemispheres to receive different amounts of sunlight at different times of the year. So, though we tend to think about the winter solstice as a day-long event, the term actually refers to a precise moment at which one half of the Earth — either the top or the bottom — is tilted the furthest away from the sun, meaning that that half of the planet sees the fewest hours of sunlight it will see all year. Though the winter solstice marks the shortest day of each year, it also signals an increase in the amount of sunlight each day for the next six months. Holidays From gift guides to local events, we're here to help you celebrate in style. A Thanksgiving survival guide for parents of picky eaters Takeout Thanksgiving: 27 restaurants offering grab-and-go meals for the holiday Similarly, the day when the Earth's tilt is closest to the sun is called the summer solstice. It's the longest day of the year and marks the astronomical beginning of summer. When is the winter solstice? In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs every year on Dec. 21 or 22. This year, it falls on Dec. 21. The summer solstice is six months later around June 21. For people who live below the equator, however, those days are flipped. Their winter solstice occurs in June, while their summer solstice happens in December. What's an equinox? Each year, there are two equinoxes — one in the spring, and one in the fall. During the equinoxes, the sun is directly above the Earth's equator, meaning there are equal amounts of sunlight and darkness on those two days. The vernal equinox, which happens in March in the Northern Hemisphere, marks the astrological end of winter. In September, the autumnal equinox signals the astrological end of summer. When are the next astrological season changes? Below is a list of the astronomical season changes we can expect to see following the upcoming winter solstice next month: Vernal Equinox (Spring): Thursday, March 20, 2025, 5:01 a.m. Summer Solstice (Summer): Friday, June 20, 2025, 10:42 p.m. Autumnal Equinox (Fall): Monday, September 22, 2025, 2:19 p.m. Can you see the winter solstice? Sort of. Each day, the sun traces a path across the sky, rising in the east and setting in the west. As the winter solstice approaches and the number of hours of sunlight in a day decreases, the sun's path sinks lower in the sky, though it follows the same general arc. By the time the winter solstice arrives, the sun sits at the lowest position in the sky it can. As a result, the shadow you cast becomes longer and longer as the winter solstice approaches. So, while solstices aren't nearly as visible as eclipses, if you go outside at noon on the winter solstice, your shadow will be the longest it will be all year.

Ban use of dogs for certain kinds of hunting, Tucson group asks ArizonaCNN polling guru reveals what Americans really think of Trump's transition and why he has 'exhausted' Democrats By NIKKI SCHWAB, CHIEF CAMPAIGN CORRESPONDENT FOR DAILYMAIL.COM IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA Published: 21:44 GMT, 25 November 2024 | Updated: 21:47 GMT, 25 November 2024 e-mail 9 View comments Americans are feeling more positively about President-elect Donald Trump 's transition than they were eight years ago, CNN 's polling guru Harry Enten revealed in a segment Monday morning. Enten also said that Democratic voters are not likely to put up much resistance, describing them as 'exhausted.' CBS polling found that only 44 percent of Democrats wish to oppose Trump, while 46 percent told pollsters that his win 'doesn't motivate me at all,' while another 10 percent of Democrats said they planned to support the incoming Republican president. 'They're exhausted. They're tired,' Enten said. 'You know it's very hard being in the opposition. Donald Trump wears out his opponents and I think they've done that here.' He added, 'Democrats are really, really tired.' In November 2016, Trump only had a plus-one net approval rating for his transition. 'That was well, well, well below the historical norm,' the polling expert explained. Eight years later, he stands at plus 18 - with 59 percent of Americans saying they approve and 41 percent saying they disapprove. CNN's polling guru Harry Enten (right) described Democrats as 'exhausted' after President-elect Donald Trump's election win earlier this month 'The bottom line is this, if eight years ago Americans were lukewarm on Donald Trump at this particular point they're giving him much more of the benefit of the doubt,' Enten said. 'A lot more Americans are in love with this transition.' Enten said Trump's current numbers are more in line with the historical norm. 'Where normally presidents get that boost coming out of their victory,' Enten said. 'And what we're seeing here is Donald Trump's presidential transition is getting a thumbs up - dare I say a two thumbs up from the American people.' The numbers on how Americans are feeling about Trump coming into office are flipped from where they were in 2016. In 2016, 53 percent reported feeling scared and concerned, while 46 percent said they were excited and optimistic. In 2024, 53 percent said they're excited and optimistic, while 46 percent said they're scared and concerned. 'Look at where we are now,' Enten said. 'The shoe is on the other foot.' The polling found that Republicans are more excited than they were eight years ago about what Trump will do once he's in office in January. President-elect Donald Trump is getting better approval ratings at the advent of this transition than he did eight years ago Democrats, on the other hand, are more scared about what the 78-year-old Republican will do. They expressed to pollsters that they feared Trump would threaten their rights and freedoms. Americans, and Democrats specifically, said they do believe that President Joe Biden should work with the Trump transition team to ensure the White House changeover goes smoothly. They also said that Congressional Democrats should work with Trump and Republicans to find some common ground. NoneThe Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes have something in common lately, and both teams are trying to shed recent labels. The teams have hit rough patches, making their meeting Thursday night in Raleigh, N.C., crucial for both sides. "I think we know we're in a little bit of funk here with our play," Carolina forward Eric Robinson said. The Hurricanes have lost three games in a row for the first time this season. Their 4-2 loss to visiting Seattle on Tuesday night came while putting just 19 shots on net, a low figure for the normally high-shot team. They had just seven shots through two periods. "We fought back a little bit, but we can't play two periods like that," Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "We were not sharp." The Avalanche hold a 7-5-0 road record after a four-goal third period produced a 5-4 victory Tuesday night at Buffalo. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice and provided an assist in that game as his team rallied from a 4-0 hole. "We went into a couple of things, more details of what we need to do and what we need to see from every guy if we were to get back into that game," Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said. "They knew we needed to get more competitive. We definitely got more relentless on the puck." That was just Colorado's second victory in its last five games (2-3-0), with the other win coming in a shootout. So there's a lot to be concerned about for the Avalanche despite the big boost to begin a five-game road trip. "It's nice to see our team dig in," Bednar said. Carolina suddenly has stalled, failing to generate the scoring chances that have often defined the team. Hurricanes forward Martin Necas has a league-high 13 multi-point games, including a goal and an assist Tuesday. He certainly needs more help, and that's something that Brind'Amour has noticed. "Our top guys got to come and that includes everybody," he said. "If we're going to win, we have to have those guys being the top guys." Brind'Amour has adjusted line combinations, hoping to spark some of the forwards into more production. "I've done that, so that's not the answer," Brind'Amour said. "You got to look in the mirror and do your job. We're going to turn the page." There were encouraging aspects despite some dismal numbers for Carolina earlier this week. The Hurricanes have racked up 12 power-play goals across their last 11 games. Colorado goalie Scott Wedgewood, making his debut with the Avalanche, notched his first victory since October with Tuesday's relief effort at Buffalo, stopping all 22 shots. He began the season with Nashville. Wedgewood has had past success against Carolina, making 44 saves in his Dallas debut in March 2022 in a memorable outing in Raleigh. Carolina's 9-3-0 home record reflects back-to-back losses on home ice. Overall, the team has dropped five of its last seven games (2-4-1). Including Thursday's contest, the Hurricanes will play five of their next six games at home. "It's a great opportunity for us to come together and get back to our winning ways," Robinson said. "Everybody is working hard. Everybody wants to win." The visit to Raleigh marks the second stop on Colorado's five-game road trip.
