Donald Hand Jr. racked up a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds to help Boston College stave off visiting Fairleigh Dickinson 78-70 on Saturday in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Chad Venning added 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting and Dion Brown contributed eight points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Eagles (8-5) wrapped up their nonconference slate with just their second win in six games. Ahmed Barba-Bey, a grad transfer from Division II, exploded for a season-high 31 points to power FDU (4-11). Barba-Bey buried 8 of 9 attempts from the 3-point arc. Terrence Brown added 15 of his 20 points in the second half, as the Knights made it close before falling to 0-10 on the road this season. Bismark Nsiah scored 10 points. Boston College led 70-59 with 3:39 to play when Barba-Bey was fouled attempting a corner 3. He made all three of his foul shots, and after a stop Brown got to the bucket to cut FDU's deficit to six. It was 72-67 when Venning made a clutch turnaround jumper from the high post with 51 seconds left. Boston College let Barba-Bey get loose for his eighth 3-pointer, pulling FDU within four, its closest margin of the half. But Hand drove to the basket and scored with 29 seconds on the clock, and FDU was out of time. The Knights trailed by as many as 12 in the first half, but Barba-Bey kept them in the game. He made a fastbreak layup off Brown's steal and added a 3-pointer on the next possession, turning what was a 10-point deficit to a manageable 29-24 game. Boston College led 38-28 at halftime, with Hand scoring 15 for the hosts and Barba-Bey pouring in 16 for the Knights, including 4-of-5 shooting from deep. FDU pulled within nine points three times in the early stages of the second half, the third coming when Nsiah knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 56-47 with about 10 minutes to go. --Field Level MediaChristmas unwrapped: Where to get your festive fix in SydneyNo. 22 UCLA edges No. 14 Gonzaga in another classic between rivals9s app online casino

The high-flying Dutch tactician has hit the ground running on Merseyside this season where he has relished the impossible task of replacing Kop icon Jurgen Klopp . While Johan Cruyff and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola serve as inspiration where his footballing principles are concerned, key figures from his homeland - including Marco van Basten - are adamant Slot's ability to seamlessly transmit his ideas to his players is what separates him from the rest. Van Basten revealed: "I have met him and talked football with Slot a number of times now, tactically he is brilliant. I have rarely been so impressed by a coach. His man-management is top class, the way he gets on with a big squad and big players, is very good. "But the way he communicates all his football ideas and gets his players to play exactly in that way, is really impressive. Everything about him is calm, because he is mega intelligent. "Slot can work at the most difficult clubs, because of his intelligence, I have always said that the bigger the club and the better the players he would have, the easier the job becomes for him because super players would understand his football ideas even quicker. "Superstars or top players have strong characters and they can be difficult but Slot is so smart, he can steer them all the direction where he wants them to go. "Slot can really do this same job anywhere. Whether it's Liverpool or Bayern Munich - you name it, I am one hundred percent convinced he would be a success there, too." It's also reflective of Slot's character that during a recent conversation with Van Basten - not only did he outline his love and respect for the former Ajax and AC Milan striker for delivering Holland's only international trophy, Euro 1988, but he also invited him to Liverpool to work with his forward line. Slot, who rejected the chance to join Tottenham in 2023 to continue building at Feyenoord three months after also snubbing an offer from Leeds, has also swatted aside persistent speculation over the futures of out-of-contract trio Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold amid Liverpool's captivating Premier League title pursuit. The 46-year-old has only made minor tactical adjustments, tweaking Klopp's heavy-metal style into a more controlled, possession-based approach but those adaptations have got the Reds firing on all cylinders and leaking less goals. Dutch coach Alex Pastoor, who previously worked at AZ Alkmaar like Slot, is in awe of his compatriot's work, adding: "To have good football ideas and vision is one thing but to get the players doing exactly what he has in mind, is another. And Slot has created that so fast again at Liverpool because he has these highly intellectual communication skills. "Slot has actually got the gift to indoctrinate players. In his mind he knows exactly, in fact in detail, what he wants to see on the pitch and how he wants to see it. "The formation, the various shapes of attacking and defending, but in particular the communication of what he wants his players to do is extreme. "In my opinion Slot is at an unimaginable height with his ability to explain to his players what he wants." Join our new WhatsApp community! MONTREAL — A childhood friend of the Quebec man killed in a Florida boat explosion Monday said one of the victim's sisters was among the other six passengers injured in the blast. Thi Cam Nhung Lê said 41-year-old Sebastien Gauthier was celebrating the holidays with his family when the explosion occurred in Fort Lauderdale. Lê said Gauthier’s older sister was also on the boat when it erupted into flames, and she was taken to a hospital. “It’s unimaginable, incomprehensible,” Lê said Saturday, adding that Gauthier’s family and mutual friends informed her about his death. Lê, 40, said she first met Gauthier in her early adolescence and they grew up together in Quebec City. She remembers him as a globetrotter who always had a smile on his face. “He’s still my best friend. It’s always him I call if I need something, but he’s no longer with us,” she said. The last time the two friends saw each other face-to-face was about two years ago, Lê said, but she last messaged Gauthier on social media in the days before Monday's explosion. And on Jan. 1, her birthday, she would have expected a call from him, just like every year. “I’m shocked, surprised, and feeling a little bit of regret," she said. "You regret not having seen him more. I spent yesterday crying. You can’t believe your friend disappears from one day to the next." Earlier this week, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed that Gauthier died of his injuries in Broward County. The FWC said its preliminary investigation in Fort Lauderdale showed a 37-foot vessel exploded after its engines were started, injuring all seven passengers on board. Video posted on social media Monday showed the vessel engulfed in flames, with a thick column of black smoke billowing into the sky. However, Florida authorities have not provided The Canadian Press with more information about the investigation. Searching for an explanation has also left Lê angry. As she mourns the loss of her longtime friend, she said she’s still waiting for answers about what led to his unexpected death. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 28, 2024. Joe Bongiorno, The Canadian PressColby Rogers made 6 of 9 3-pointers and scored 28 points as host Memphis defeated No. 16 Ole Miss 87-70 on Saturday afternoon. Rogers fouled out and finished one 3-pointer and one point short of his career-highs in both categories and Memphis never trailed. Investors threaten to call in police over huge losses after collapse of Alastair Campbell son's football betting syndicate

Dayle Haddon, an actor, activist and trailblazing former Sports Illustrated model who pushed back against age discrimination by re-entering the industry as a widow, has died in a Pennsylvania home from what authorities believe was carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities in Bucks County found Haddon, 76, dead in a second-floor bedroom Friday morning after emergency dispatchers were notified about a person unconscious at the Solebury Township home. A 76-year-old man police later identified as Walter J. Blucas of Erie was hospitalized in critical condition. Responders detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property and township police said Saturday that investigators determined that “a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak.” Two medics were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene. As a model, Haddon appeared on the covers of Vogue , Cosmopolitan , Elle and Esquire in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also appeared in about two dozen films from the 1970s to 1990s, according to IMDb.com, including 1994’s Bullets Over Broadway , starring John Cusack. Haddon left modelling after giving birth to her daughter, Ryan, in the mid-1970s, but then had to re-enter the workforce after her husband’s 1991 death. This time she found the modelling industry far less friendly: “They said to me, ‘At 38, you’re not viable,'” Haddon told The New York Times in 2003. Working a menial job at an advertising agency, Haddon began reaching out to cosmetic companies, telling them there was a growing market to sell beauty products to aging baby boomers. She eventually landed a contract with Clairol, followed by Estée Lauder and then L’Oreal, for which she promoted the company’s anti-aging products for more than a decade. She also hosted beauty segments for CBS’s The Early Show . “I kept modelling, but in a different way,” she told The Times , “I became a spokesperson for my age.” In 2008, Haddon founded WomenOne, an organization aimed at advancing educational opportunities for girls and women in marginalized communities, including Rwanda, Haiti and Jordan. Haddon was born in Canada and began modelling as a teenager to pay for ballet classes — she began her career with the Canadian ballet company Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, according to her website. Haddon’s daughter, Ryan, said in a social media post that her mother was “everyone’s greatest champion. An inspiration to many.” “A pure heart. A rich inner life. Touching so many lives. A life well lived. Rest in Light, Mom,” she said.Rosanna Davison shares ‘beautiful’ snaps while ‘making memories’ with family on winter holiday to Morocco

Wade Taylor IV scored 15 points and dished out 10 assists and C.J. Wilcher added 14 points as No. 13 Texas A&M throttled Abilene Christian 92-54 on Saturday afternoon in College Station, Texas. The Aggies (11-2) were in charge from the jump, forging a 19-point lead at halftime and never looking back. Texas A&M scored the first points of the second half, was up by 28 with 13:23 to play and cruised to the finish line while winning its seventh straight game. Taylor's output moved him into second place in the Aggies all-time scoring list. His 1,779 points are now behind only Bernard King, who had 1,990 from 1999-2003. Andersson Garcia and Zhuric Phelps added 12 points each for Texas A&M, which appears to be hitting on all cylinders heading into its Southeastern Conference opener at home against rival Texas on Jan. 4. Phelps added 10 rebounds for the Aggies. Quion Williams led the Wildcats (8-6) with 14 points. Abilene Christian missed its final six shots and went the last 5:24 of the game without a point. The Aggies made a statement in the early going by scoring the game's first nine points over the initial 3 1/2 minutes, with seven of those coming from Coleman. Abilene Christian fought back to within 16-12 after Dontrez Williams' layup with 12:12 left in the half. But A&M swung back, producing a 14-0 run capped by Garcia's layup with 8:51 to play in the half to pull away to a 30-12 advantage. The Wildcats again cut into their deficit, pulling to 30-19 when Cade Hornecker hit a layup with 6:26 to play until halftime. A&M boosted the lead back to 17 points after a pair of free throws by Taylor and got two more from the charity stripe to take a 48-29 edge to the break. Wilcher led all scorers in the half with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc while Garcia hit for 10 points for A&M while making all four of his shots from the floor. The Aggies outshot Abilene Christian 61.5 percent to 40.7 percent before halftime. Quion Williams and Leonardo Bettiol paced the Wildcats with seven points each in the first half. --Field Level MediaUS agencies should use advanced technology to identify mysterious drones, Schumer says

Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video of Indian Railways’ first cable bridge in the Anji section of Jammu and Kashmir. In the video, a freight train can be seen undergoing a load test by running past the bridge. Srinagar: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video of Indian Railways’ first cable bridge in the Anji section of Jammu and Kashmir. In the video, a freight train can be seen undergoing a load test by running past the bridge. The test was conducted on December 25. The bridge has been built at the Katra-Banihal sports section of Northern Railways. As per officials, the length of this bridge is 473.25 meters, while the width is 15 meters. Also, a single pylon 193 meters high is built in the middle of the bridge. Importantly, several successful trials have already been conducted for running engine and goods trains from Sangaldan to Reasi station. How load test was conducted on the track Sharing further details, the authorities informed that the engine had first reached Reasi station from Katra at a speed of 20 km/hr and then returned to Katra at a speed of 30 km per hour. After this, a good train with 32 racks loaded with gravel reached Reasi station from Katra. During the test, the officials attached two engines and two special brake coaches to the goods train. Notable, it was on Friday that the goods train left Reasi station to test the load of the country’s first cable stay bridge built on Anji Khad. Thereafter, the queue of dumpers started arriving at the 15 feet-wide space, that had been built on the side of the railway line. After this, the 57 dumpers were parked on the bridge. The weight of each dumper was nine tonnes. The first phase of the load test was completed, and the goods train returned to Reasi. Construction of the bridge started in 2008 Importantly, the construction of the Anji Bridge was started in the year 2008. However, due to certain difficulties, the design of the track was earlier cancelled and a cable-stayed bridge was considered. Later in 2015, the Sridharan Committee visited the site and assessed the situation. After discussions, a decision was made to build a new cable-stayed bridge. In 2017, construction started on the cable-stayed bridge on Anji Khad, and the responsibility was handed over to Hindustan Construction Company. Click for more latest Business news . These medications, such as metoclopramide and domperidone, are popular due to their ability to address the fundamental cause of the condition. While not all prokinetic agents produce a corresponding improvement in stomach emptying, they are effective in alleviating symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and early satiety. Other recent drugs, including ghrelin, motilin, 5-HT4 receptor agonists, and dopamine receptor agonists, are being studied for their potential in gastroparesis treatment. The use of prokinetic agents for symptoms like constipation, caused by decreased motility in the distal GI tract, also increases their demand and drives market growth during the forecast period. Ani Pharmaceuticals offers Reglan, a metoclopramide formulation, for gastroparesis treatment in the US. Analyst Review Gastroparesis is a chronic condition characterized by delayed emptying of the stomach, leading to various digestive disruptions such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Neurogastrx's tradipitant is a promising new drug for gastroparesis treatment, while metopimazine, deudomperidone, and metoclopramide are common antiemetics used for symptom management.
